Went to Jake's for a yoga retreat with a couple of girls. We had the pleasure of staying in Calabash Villa- which was beautiful. Everything was great, I really don't have any complaints. The staff were wonderful and helpful. The grounds were clean and always has people hanging around having fun. It was a great vacation and I will definitely be back!

We spent a week at Jake's in Mussels and had friends join us in other cottages. There were 6 kids all together and 8 adults - everyone loved it. The kids ran around, playing on the field by Jack Spratt's and swimming in the pool, enjoying Ting, pizza and the delicious papaya pancakes. The adults enjoyed Dougie's excellent rum punch and pineapple punch and more red stripes than we care to count. The food was delicious and the people who work there are the nicest most helpful and fun hosts I've ever encountered. They delivered birthday cakes for us, held our 1 year old, arranged and changed multiple group trips and generally took such special care of us. If anything didn't work quite right, like our air conditioner wouldn't start, they were there to fix it immediately. I can't recommend Jake's enough actually - it's waaay off the beaten track and totally a pleasure.

Room Tip: Mussels was absolutely amazing, though a bit high maintenance with a 1 year old constantly about to throw himself off a little cliff into the sea. All the rooms looks amazing - our friends in Sweetlips said the fan was loud and the mosquito net didn't fit the bed, but it was still really lovely!

Jakes is truly a special, magical place. I have traveled all over the world and this was my favorite vacation. The property is eccelectic and charming and feels chic without trying too hard. You feel completely immersed in the Jamaican culture while feeling completely relaxed and pampered at the same time. The rooms are all unique and charming, the staff is friendly, the food is delicious.. I had an amazing massage at the spa, we went on great day trips around treasure beach.. every day was better than the next...I cried when I left. I can't recommend Jakes enough!

Room Tip: Request a room on the water with an outdoor shower!

We recently spent a week at Jakes. We stayed in Octupuss house, the accommodation was beautiful but not cheap at $474 a night. Overall we had a great time but the food was pretty expensive and largely average. I'd definitely suggest eating out (for example Pardy's Coffee Shop just down the road does a great ackee and salt and is about half the price). It was also irritating to have each bill changed from J$ to US$ with Jakes benefiting from the exchange rate.

They also took a healthy chunk when arranging trips, transport etc. Having said all of that, we had an amazing time there.

There is a reason why Jakes have so many repeat visitors, this place is full of charm.
Book a room facing the sea (their website has lots of info on the rooms). Dougie does the best fruit juice cocktails ever and the food is outstanding.
This place is just fabulous, please go and do yourself a favour.

Room Tip: Book a sea facing room with balcony. The top floors have more privacy
