We traveled to P.R. for nephew's wedding, on the east coast of the island. We were not sure where to stay but were looking for a facility that was more rural and not a standard hotel. We found the Ceiba Inn on line and although the photo's showed an inn that appeared somewhat 'rustic' we were swayed by the very good reviews.
The positive reviews were spot on. Although the property is rustic, the innkeeper, Michael, continues to improve the property. (A pool is scheduled to be completed by fall.) Its strength comes from Michael's excellent service, the concern for his guests and the spectacular setting in the hills overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The rooms are clean and have basic amenities (refrigerator, coffee maker but no TV--it was refreshing, we did not miss it).
Most impressive is the tranquility during the day and the serenading at night by the legion of 'coqui's', P.R.'s little frogs whose vocals are much bigger than their stature. Truly a unique experience.
Michael could not do enough to make sure our stay was outstanding. His local knowledge made our day trips enjoyable and our dining very satisfying. Morning breakfast was better than expected, with local fruits and hand squeezed juices, etc., all from Michaels hand.
If you want a clean, relaxing, peaceful location (only 50 miles from San Juan) provided by a solid innkeeper, this is the place for you. We would absolutely return (even my wife, who is rather picky with accommodations).

Room Tip: this is a small inn, so there are not too many rooms. We were in #8, which was very nice. It seemed that the rooms in the back of the inn have a better view of the jungle mountainside. Any room would be good.

Are you looking for a place to unwind, to get away from your everyday life? This is the place. A bed and breakfast on a hill side with fruit trees everywhere. A cozy room with no interruptions from today's busy lifestyle. No TV! It's quiet. You can listen to the Coqui's at night. It's very pleasant.
They also have a few dogs that are very friendly and loveable. They love attention and if you love dogs they know you are a sucker for attention.
We stayed here before and we came back to celebrate our 25th Anniversary.

This place was awesome. We just googled a place to stay near Fajardo and it worked perfectly. It is up in a mountain, very friendly and great service. Without knowing it is a gay friendly inn. That was a plus. Beautiful room for affordable price. I am a native puertorrican and it was the first time knowing of this place. Will definitely recommend to everybody. My fiancé, visiting PR for the first time loved it!! He loved how awesome were the nights there. You could hear all the coqui's very clearly. It has hammocks which was really nice.

We were looking for someplace to stay that wasn't a resort and was close to the rain forest. This place met all the things we were looking for. Additionally, Michael and his staff were friendly, helpful and easy to work with. The breakfast provided was great. The rooms aren't fancy, but they are clean, well kept, comfortable and quiet. If you're looking for someplace to get away but still have access to some of the great places in Puerto Rico, this is place to stay.

My fiance and I stayed at the Ceiba Country Inn last week and used it as a base to explore the eastern side of the island. What a great place! We were able to explore Luquillo, Fajardo, Humacao and even spend an afternoon in San Juan, all within less than an hour's drive. Michael was very helpful in answering questions and making recommendations. There is a beautiful terrace, perfect for enjoying a beer at the end of a long day of sightseeing. The location near the rain forest was beautiful and we were able to go on a day trip to a swimming hole led by Chris that was only about fifteen minutes away. The cocqui frogs and friendly dogs really add to the relaxing feel of the inn. And breakfast was great with fresh fruit, local coffee and freshly baked breads. We will definitely be back!
