“Best public beach on the east coast”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

The beach is truly beautiful. The mountains of the rain forest are on the background and make the beach more special. Restroom facilities are not too good.

“Best Beach but it gets crowded. ”
Reviewed 31 July 2014 via mobile

Luquillo is in the running for the best beach on the mainland if Puerto Rico. The sand is fine compared to many PR beaches. There are no rocks in the water to stump your toes on. There are plenty of coconut and pines trees to lay under. The beach itself is pretty wide. Great views of the waves breaking on the nearby protective reefs and a commanding view of El Yunque. Early morning is desolate until about 10am when the locals arrive and many tourist come to refresh after a morning hike visiting El Yunque. To the left the beach runs into Kiosk beach where a lively bar scene brings in tons of people. The further to the right you walk the more you loose the crowds. Very popular beach during the locals' holidays. Food, parking and bathrooms are easily accessible.

Great way to spend a day.

“One of the Nicest Beaches in Puerto Rico”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

This beach goes by a number of names, Balneario Luquillo, Luquillo Beach, Balneario Monserrate. The beach is clean and the water is calm. Also, there are almost no rocks underfoot when you go into the water, which is typical of many beaches in Puerto Rico. Chair rentals are $5 each and umbrella rentals are $10 each. Parking is plentiful and secure and costs $4.50. Access to clean bathrooms and locker storage is $1. Kayaks are also available for rental. There is food and beverages available at local kiosks, or you can take a short drive down Route 3 at the end of the day and have dinner at one of the many food kiosks about a mile down the road.

“Tranquil Waters.. RELAXING Wonderful place”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

We spent most of the day at Luquillo after a morning visit to El Yunque & Paylas. It was a perfect beach to enjoy quiet time together, the ocean was calm & refreshing.
Also, like the many little shops with souvenirs & food close by.

“Beautiful beach, lots of options”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

We briefly visited this beach, mainly for the kiosks. While it is picturesque and easy to access, and there are lots of food and shopping options close at hand, there is a ridiculous amount of trash all over the beach. That was a real turn-off for us. Too bad, because a bit of clean-up and care could really make this a first rate beach.
