“The perfect place in Mancora”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 September 2012

We stayed at the hotel at the end of our journey in Peru.
It was the perfect place to unwind.

Location in Las Pocitas was perfect, as it is far away from hussle and trouble of Mancora (that you can reach with a 40 min walk on the beach)

The beach in front of the hotel is very nice, and you can enjoy this very long beach by making some nice walks.

The room, was nice, very modern and clean. It had sufficient space and closets but it is not a big room; bathroom is nicely set even if I must say that I would have added an additional light in the shower.
Every room has a very nice private patio, very large with some outdoor lounge, very pleasant.
All the room are with ocean view and what a beautiful view.

This hotel is also eco friendly you can see it in many details from the bathrooms ameninities that are not in monouse bottles but in bottle in ceramic that are refilled every day.

You have a real feeling of "boutique hotel" style in this place; with attention paid to the details, the music you heard is very nice and make you in the perfect mood to relax by the pool or on the beach. When the day starts to become very hot, Jackie would pop up with some icy towels, or by lunch one of the waiters will pop up by the sunbeds offering you some spoon appetizers...

The staff are very friendly how can we thank enough Jorge, Paco, Luz and Jackie for how they have assisted us during our week stay always smiling and being kind.

And let's talk about the food, a world : "WOW!" Spectacular!
We, the people used to skip lunch during our holiday, ended up by eating breakfast, lunch and dinner at their restaurant !!!!!!!!! And thank to their very long menu choice we have eaten there for one week without getting bored!

With my husband, we signed for the him & her spa treat; it was perfect 2 hours of pure bliss di front of the ocean ending by jacuzzi & champagne.
The spa is located on the top floor, is very cleaned and the therapists were excellent
If you intend to do the same, I warmly suggest you to do as what we did by booking the session that ends around 6 p.m. giving you the possibility to enjoy the sunset from there.

Let's talk about the negative, because yes there are still improvements to be made at the DCO and that i why my valutation is Very Good and not Excellent.
For an hotel quite expensive, we had some negative surprises like
1) the water bottles to wash your teeth available in the room are not refilled, if you want some more (for e.g. if you stay 1 week) well you have to pay for it. Now it is not for fun, that in Mancora you wash your teeth with mineral water but because it is needed!
2) breakfast is included in the rate but .... many items are left out; for e.g. a basic thing like yoghurt and Kellogg's! If you want them you have to pay.... every day I ordered them, so it is like I paid twice my breakfast.
3) boutique hotel means attention to details; I was very surprise when in a need of 1 iron (my clothes after 3 weeks of going around with luggages were crying for some ironing) I had been told "we don't have any". I don't say that you need to have an iron in every room we are in Mancora not in a big american city, but at least 1 for the hotel would have been nice.

This is anyway the best hotel in Mancora.

Room Tip: Top Floor at the right side (master suite wing)

We had a lovely few days at the DCO Suites at the end of our honeymoon. We booked the package which included meals, spa treatment and champagne. The staff were excellent and were very helpful. The setting was stunning and the massage was really lovely. The only small complaint we have was that the starter courses were as big as the main courses so we were unable to finish our food.

We came here from Buenos Aires. The trip took a bit, flying from BA to Lima, then to Piura and from Piura to Mancora it took about 2-3 hours by car. The correspondence with Diana in advance was very nice and they organized our pick-up from Piura airport. It was all very well organized. Even though our flight had an hour delay or so we immediately met our driver at the gate when we arrived. The ride up to Mancora was breathtaking already. The area is totally diverse. At some point the concrete jungle and hectic traffic of Piura changes into jungle, then once you get closer to Mancora the soil turns into a mars-like red and you can see oil-pumps along the way which makes the surrounding a little spooky but still intriguing. After a bumpy ride down the old panamerican highway we arrived in the middle of the night in front of the hotel. Diana was already waiting for us and she also had organized a short meet-up with a very nice surf instructor at the bar who we requested in advance. I wanted to go surfing around the area and he made a very easy and nice impression and also knew already which board sizes we d preferred. Upon arrival they handed us a nice and fruity cocktail and we got two little beach bags. Each one contained a sari for the beach, some useful stuff and a walkie talkie. Since the rooms don t have phones, that is the way to communicate with the service staff. Very nice idea we thought. Kike showed us our room. It was located on the ground level, only a few steps away from the Peruvian roaring Pacific. Rooms are very clean, the enterieur was chosen with good taste. outside the room is a little terrace (each one has one) that can be used in private too if you pull the silky white curtains around it. It was Cabana feeling on a high level. On the whole the place is also very eco-friendly. They don t provide shower gel in plastic bottles but fill it into really nice bottles made of porcelain each day. Rooms have TV, internet connection but no fridge which did not really came as a disappointment because you can order ANYTHING by walkie talkie. Kike also organized a surf and a boogie-board for our private use during the week. Unfortunately i became a little sick- must have been due to the long surf in the colder Lobitos area without a neo. The whole hotel staff seemed to want to help. Luz also managed to get a doctor to the place when my infection turned out nasty and everyone was really caring and just like a family. With 7 rooms the hotel felt very familiar and intimate. Sometimes other people from around came for dinner. Dinner and breakfast as well as lunch it between was haute cuisine on a top level. We still miss the fresh and funky food we had at the DCO. The cook and his assistant were awesome, they made gluten free bread for me and arranged every meal due to my allergy in a gluten free way. We also managed to dine directly on the beach for 2 nights. They set up a very romantic table with lights and roses. If you re not already married, you might want to consider getting married here. If it was not so far away from home we d do it right away. There s no better way to stay in the Mancora area. Of course it s pricy but in relation to its service and amenities the price is totally fair. SPA with massages was wonderful, too! We would come back any time! We still remember this place very often in our hectic lives and hope everyone is doing well at the DCO. If you ever wonder what paradise would be like...book a trip to the DCO.

the best aspect of this hotel was it's chilled, chic and trendy design. The music selection is too good, from chill out to 80s, great choice of diverse playlists. The food was superb, the best was to know that the meal we ordered the night before was not available, but it was not a problem for them, a lobster was on its way from Lima, to be at our table that night. That is an example of the quality of the service, they would do these things for their guests. Maybe it was their good attention in general or the luck of being their first ever guest back in 2009! One of the owners is a very lovely peruvian woman that has good eye for the details. The spa was their cherry on the cake, fantastic view, a trendy chic zen style. Get the spa package that comes with massages and the champagne. Try to book your massages for aprox 4pm, so you can enjoying the view of the sunset in the jacuzzi with a glass of champagne.

We went here on our honeymoon in June 2011 as the first part of a multi-leg trip throughout Peru. It was EXACTLY what we needed after our wedding. DCO is such a small, intimate location, and is only meant for those who truly want to get away from everything for complete peace and quiet. The hotel takes several hours to get to by car from Piura, the nearest airport, but it is worth the drive.

There are only 6 suites, all of which provide privacy from the few other guests at the hotel. Rooms are modest in size but are tranquil, modern, and provide the amenities you need for your time at the hotel. The staff is excellent, tending to your every whim. More importantly, they know how to do so without disruption to the peace of the location. There is a modest but gorgeous infinity pool on the same level as a small outdoor bar and restaurant area. The chef greeted us on our first night, and said that while the menu has excellent options, he could cook us anything we desired. We never at the same meal twice, and were always astounded at how good the food was.

We visited at a relatively quiet time of year, and walks on the beach were peaceful and pleasant as there were few other guests at our and the other surrounding hotels. The spa, though expensive, was a wonderful experience for honeymooners. It is on the top level of the hotel, and the experience includes time in the sauna, an outdoor shower, a massage, and time in the outdoor hot tub with a bottle of champagne.

In all, it is a wonderful location, if a bit expensive and remote. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Room Tip: The ground floor suites are a bit more secluded than the rest, as there are plants that shield peopl...
