“A hidden gem in Ballandean!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 December 2012

This place was so perfect for our getaway after the uni year and to celebrate our anniversary. The room was VERY spacious, especially the bathroom and very clean. We spent both sunsets watching wild skippies come down to graze in the fields. Location was close to wineries and a 2 minute drive to the Shiraz restaurant.
We were lucky to be the only guests during our stay and it was lovely hearing nature at night while enjoying the big spa! Gardens are well kept and manicured!
Everything was a breeze with checking in and out. Having real coffee every day was bliss! I can't count how many my partner had in the end but he loved it!
Oh and did I mention we got engaged here?! So this place is definitely very special.

Many thanks JustineHS for the wonderful review, and thank you for choosing azjure for such a special occasion. azjure really is a hidden gem, as you say, and watching the wildlife close up is definitely part of the magic (the spa and the coffee are too!). We're especially glad you liked our new digital check-in and check-out, as you say, it makes everything a breeze.

Looking forward to seeing you next time!

Kind regards
Ross and Cathryn

My fiance and I stayed at Azjure as a sort of preaversary. (We will be married that weekend a year from now). The staff were very helpful and friendly on the phone when booking and were more then helpful when we arrived. The room was amazing and had such a sense of privacy even with all of the curtains open in the bathroom and apartment space. All the little touches were great with the oil burner already going when you first enter so you are hit with an amazing smell and the relaxing soundtrack playing so you can get straight into relaxation mode. We were definitely planning on coming back for our anniversary after we are married. The only negative thing that we could say is that on the morning that we left when we were cleaning up we dropped one of the champagne glasses and $10 was charged to my credit card. Given the price of the room and the five star setting it did put a bit of a negative spin on the getaway as it seemed a bit stingy considering we had paid $640 for a weekend away, and when I have stayed in self contained cottages/before minimal damages like this have been included and budgeted for in the rate of the room. But overall it was a beautiful place to stay and the room was even more then we had expected. :)

Dear Stephie E,

Thank you for posting your lovely review. We’re so glad you and your fiancé loved your stay at azjure. It really is a very special place, and as you say the studios are amazing.

We are sorry the glass charge was a negative, and we hope it won’t put you off returning for your wedding anniversary – we would love to see you again. The eighteen beautiful crystal glasses provided in each studio are just one of the myriad things that make azjure so exquisite. In order to keep our rates as low as possible, we unfortunately need to recoup some of the cost of breakages, which unfortunately are more common than we would like (they actually cost way more than $10). The alternative is to build it into our rates, which means everyone would pay a higher rate. We do hope you understand.

Best regards
Ross

My husband and I enjoyed a two night stay at Azjure when we came to enjoy the Christmas in July atmosphere (and my husband's birthday). Cathy was very welcoming and helpful over the phone when I booked. Coming up, we were delighted to see some kangaroos in the grass outside reception, including an adorable joey who kept popping in and out of his mother's pouch.

Cathy welcomed us to Azjure. We were pleasantly surprised by the gift of essential oils - what a lovely gesture that we could choose the one we liked the most. It was a terrific start to the weekend. We had villa 3, the furtherest one and I loved it - so private.

The villa was huge and looked exactly as it does on the website. We are very particular about cleanliness and my husband remarked on how spotless it was. That makes for a very relaxing stay.

I was so happy with the kitchen. A proper size kitchen with a gas stove, excellent pots, pans, salt and pepper, a proper knife block...I love cooking and this was a happy cook's dream. The breakfast was adequate and I was very happy with the eggs we were given. But if you enjoy a bigger breakfast, I think it would be best to order the hearty breakfast pack or top up at the local IGA. The coffee machine is the easiest I have had the pleasure of using and made great coffee. I appreciated the full cream milk in the fridge.

The heater, electric blankets and fireplace all worked beautifully to create the warmth and ambience you want in July. The bathroom is beautifully appointed with a large shower, with perfect water pressure. The Molton Brown products were much appreciated. But best of all was the two person spa. What a beautiful tub - so relaxing in the morning before a day of visiting the wineries.

The location couldn't be better - 5 minutes from some of the top wineries and restaurants in the region.

On the last morning, I went outside on the back patio and watched six of seven kangaroos in front of our villa... magic and relaxing.

Well done Cathy and Ross.

Room Tip: They are all good but I prefer Villa 3 for privacy.

Thanks so much for the wonderful review - we're delighted you enjoyed the wildlife, kitchen, spa and everything else at azjure!

In particular thanks for mentioning how the studios look exactly as they do on the website. One of the reasons azjure has won so many top awards at both State and National level is that guests are never disappointed when they arrive, because they've seen all the huge photos on the website.

Thanks also for mentioning how clean the studios are. We go to great lengths to ensure every studio is perfect, every time, so it's great to have that recognised.

azjure's great location is something that a lot of people don't appreciate till they get here and find four top wineries within walking distance and the region's top restaurants close by in Ballandean village. Ballandean really is the best place to stay on the Granite Belt!!

Nice room, very clean, loved watching the kangaroos morning and night, from the little balcony. Probably one of the nicest in the area. There is no servicing of your room. Would be a good idea for the owner to ask people what cereals etc they wld like for breakfast each day, rather than , for 2 days, giving 3 different boxes cereal and a porridge, 1 egg each, white bread , muffins and assuming that it is what a person wld like, rather than what they wld prefer. Apart from that a nice place to stay

Room Tip: only 3 studios to choose from and they all look the same

We thank these guests for taking the time to post a review - we're glad they enjoyed their stay at azjure and that they thought the studio was great. The wildlife experience really is one of the highlights of a stay at azjure. We were surprised they described the patio as little, as it is about 25 square metres in size, which is very spacious for two people, but as they said it does provide a great place for watching the wildlife.

Regarding room servicing, a previous TripAdvisor reviewer put it perfectly in April this year: "This place is absolutely beautiful... It's not 5 star hotel with room service style, but that's part of what makes it so amazing."

Being fully self-contained accommodation, we provide guests with everything they need for their stay (and more!), and we then leave them alone to enjoy total privacy for the duration of their stay. azjure is just like most other self-contained accommodation, such as holiday apartments, in this respect.

We have consistently found that our guests prefer and value having their privacy, and that is one of the major reasons why they choose to stay at a self-contained property. However, it may be that these guests haven't stayed at a self-contained property before, in which case they may not have understood this style of accommodation.

The continental breakfast provisions that are supplied are those that we have found over time to be the most popular with guests, and are generally very well received, but guests are welcome to ask for different provisions if they prefer.

My partner and I were searching for the perfect spot for our anniversary when we came across Azjure. After reading some of the reviews our expectations were very high and we immediately booked 2nights away, and WOW aren't we glad we did! From the moment we arrived to check in we received the warmest welcome from Cathryn, who shared her extensive knowledge of the region and all it has to offer. Walking into our studio we were greeted by a relaxing soundtrack and the amazing smell of essential oils filling the room. Our room was immaculate, there was not one thing we could fault, from our super comfortable king bed to the amazing spa bath...everything was beyond our expectations. Cathryn and Ross really have thought of all the finishing touches...new release DVDs, current magazines, complimentary essential oils, easy to use coffee machine, candles, fire place, bath pillows, towel warmers, restaurant frozen dinners personally delivered by Cathryn herself, and a continental breakfast that could have lasted another 2 days. It was the perfect getaway and we are already planning our next escape to Azjure and spreading the word about this incredible place. If you're looking for a place to stay and relax, rejuvenate and romance while really experiencing the amazing great belt region, this should be the only one on your list!

Our stay at Azjure during April 2012 was amazing. Perfect location to explore the surrounding wineries and national parks, beautiful surroundings and room finishes, well equipped kitchen to allow you to enjoy the local produce. We found our room to be very clean and well maintained, with high quality kitchenware and appliances. The veranda was the perfect location to sit and enjoy the complimentary breakfast, and relax with some wine in the evenings.

Our time on the Granite Belt was one of the most enjoyable and relaxing holidays we have had, and we would definitely stay at Azjure again next time we visit.

I don't need many words to explain the 2 nights we stayed at this beautiful retreat - absolutely outstanding! From the minute we arrived on 3 March 2012 to the minute we left, everything was exceptional. Cost slightly more than some of our previous trips in Australia but worth every dollar. The views are stunning, the local wildlife was amazing - lots of kangaroos. We were so chilled out as we had everything we needed in the retreat. We visited some of the local wineries & fresh food stores before arriving and spent our time relaxing. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you.
