“hanmer springs visit”
Reviewed 15 March 2013

This is a fantastic place to stay at. We were bowled over by the friendly hosts. The rooms are small but spotlessly clean and adequate. You have full use of a very large well equipped kitchen with large fridges to store your own food and drink. There is a massive lounge and dinning area as well as a BBQ for guests to use.
If you don't fancy catering for yourself there are plenty of good eating places within minutes walk.
Best of all it was one pensive and directly opposite Hanmer Springs pools.

We paid only $100 for a double room with kingsize bed, ensuite facilities, coffee/tea making in the room, with free wifi and Sky TV. The room was very small but top value for money. Friendly helpful reception. Huge common area for lounge dining and outdoor facilities and an amazing commercial-standard kitchen. Literally across the road from the hot pools entrance, and metres from town centre facilities. A little noisy in the corridors, but top choice for budget travellers.

We arrived on a lovely sunny day and were pleased to be greeted cheerfully by Ann the Manager and shown our room. The room was perfect and quiet and well decorated and had great facilities. The bed linen was GORGEOUS and the bed spot on. The shower had excellent water pressure and was spotlessly clean. Ann was so helpful with suggestions of where to visit, get coffee and dine and always seemed to have a smile. It was a shame to leave really.

Hotel has a nice communial area to be able to sit on leather sofa watch t.v or sit at tables if you want to bring in take away food. Large kitchen available to store and prepare own food. Free internet. Continential breakfast available $12.50
Friendly service on check in.

This place looks very good on the outside, but it's a disappointment. Carpet is stained and worn, hallways are painted a weird dark grey, there's paint coming off in obvious places in the rooms, and we had a terrible stain on the carpet; unlabelled taps that wouldn't turn off properly and nowhere to put your soap in the shower. Without air-con at night the room was too hot to close the window so we slept with it open. We then heard the shouting and yahooing from the pub next door all night long. The shared kitchen is ok, but the dining area is dark and uninviting. Last year we paid $260 for a two bedroom self-contained apartment with kitchen and balcony at Settlers and it was VASTLY superior to this. Sorry Drifters, you have a lot to improve.

We stayed here in December during very warm weather, around 30+ degrees. The room had no air conditioning and the windows could not be fully opened. The bathroom was so tiny that you couldn't swing a mouse in there! The room was small and very claustrophobic. Drifters Inn is more like a backpackers lodge.

We arrived late at night and great managers Penny& Mile were there waiting. Convenient location across from the pools and walking distance to everything even though everything is within walking distance, small town. Clean and comfortable, but needs maintenance in room 16 door heavy and really slams, every Time it opens, very annoying. Sink leaked all over my things all the time, small counter in bathroom, carpets are filthy, , but everything else was clean, nice bed and very nice kitchen and living area in common areas. For $ 110 should be in better condition, but beautiful town to stay in. Also the cleaners did not make my Room up gave fresh towels but that was that.

Room Tip: Do not get room 16 unless they fix sink, door and clean or replace carpets
