“Excellent short break”
Reviewed 14 June 2014 via mobile

We were a party of 10 and we stumbled across this hotel googling for self-catering accommodation that would take our party in a room around Ithaca. We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel... excellent facilities with enough entertainment for the family. Ask for the rooms facing the lake... good views.

The staff was excellent... highly hospitable, particularly Rebecca at the front desk for her excellent hospitality.

The waterpark is a bit expensive so make sure you secure the discounted rate when checking in. It doesn't have too many rides but enough to entertain the kids and adults alike.

Just make sure you do your groceries at the closest town as not much is available around the hotel location.

I just wanted to let you know that my family were guests at Hope Lake Lodge over this past Memorial Day Weekend and that we had an amazing experience. Back in November 2012, my family escaped the horror of Hurricane Sandy and sought refuge for a week at HLL. I knew right then and there and we would be returning Memorial Day Weekend 2014 to attend my son's graduation from Cornell. I made my first contact with Shelby and she and I worked together for almost a year planning every aspect of this amazing family celebration. She worked tirelessly, with grace and understanding, to ensure that every detail of the weekend was flawless. From room assignments to making sure that the Adirondack Room was set-up exactly the way we wanted, she made sure that we were happy.

Chef Doug was equally as impressive. We are a family that only eats kosher and Chef Doug understood our needs and was determined to make certain that we would be able to celebrate our family milestone without a worry about our dietary needs. He called me on the telephone many times to go over ingredients, kosher symbols and cooking techniques to ensure our level of comfort with the hotel taking on the responsibility of our meals. The food was delicious, the presentation and service were top notch. Additionally, the three or four servers who attended our room were so friendly and pleasant to be around.

Lastly, I just want to say that the waitress in your restaurant named Raven was very good. It cannot be easy to be that pregnant, take everyone's food orders, get everything right and smile (all at the same time). She has a wonderful personality and friendly disposition. We ate in the restaurant several times and she was a pleasure to have as a waitress.

We loved our vacation and were so happy with the way everything worked out. You were even able to arrange perfect weather. Just wanted to say thanks and that all of your efforts were greatly appreciated and did not go unnoticed.

Room Tip: 519ABC - Very large room (2 bedroom 3 bathroom) with nice views of the mountain and lake

Fantastic resort! We stayed for 2 nights in April in the Northwood Suites Studio. The room was amazing.. so cozy with a gas fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen and beautiful decor - the door handles on the rustic cabinets looked like tree twigs. Adorable touches all around. The room was clean and spacious. It had one Queen Bed and a sleeper sofa and we overlooked the ski mountain. The water park was so fun. The highlight is the indoor/outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi. You enter the pool and/or jacuzzi from inside and there are plastic flaps hanging that you pass through. When you come out the other side, you are in a nice warm heated pool or jacuzzi and you are overlooking the snowy mountain. It felt like a previous trip to the alps, sitting in the jacuzzi overlooking the Matterhorn at a much smaller scale and much closer to home. Beautiful and relaxing! I loved that there was both the pool and the jacuzzi as I can't do jacuzzi's but swimming in the heated pool overlooking the snowy mountain was PERFECT. My daughter loved the wave pool! She stayed in for hours on a tube. There were a few slides and a basketball hoop area and a dump bucket and kiddie area. The water park is small but I found it perfect for traveling with my 9 year old. I could always keep an eye on her and the slides were a good size and plenty for her to do. The life guards were vigilant.. they walked back and forth scanning the pool and did not stop to talk to others, etc., Very focused. There was a snack bar area that was good and the pool was open until 10 p.m. and the arcade until 11 p.m. and at night you can also bring your own s'mores and roast them in a giant stone fire pit. They supply the sticks. Across the street there is an adventure area. The mountain coaster is really fun and beautiful scenery. You can also zip line and do obstacle courses but we did not try that. The restaurant onsite was good.. a lot of choices and convenient. I would have liked to try the local restaurants but we ran out of time. We did use a Groupon which made it more affordable. The staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us a lot of history about the area. No complaints at all. We have already started to look at another long weekend. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: We got a room in the Northwoods Suite on the end one floor up from the waterpark and arcade. Very c...

My family recently stayed here when we attended my son's graduation from SUNY Cortland. The decor and ambiance was beautiful. The interior designers did a great job replicating an Adirondack style lodge, and all of the details were well thought out.

We had a one bedroom suite which could accomodate six people. Plenty of closet space, a fully equipped kitchen, and a gas fireplace were highlights of the suite. The only complaint I have with the design of the room was a full length mirror placed directly opposite the toilet - really??? A really odd flaw in an otherwise very well-designed room.

We did not use room service, but did have to call down to housekeeping twice for extra towels and blankets. The first time service was very prompt, the second time nobody came and we had to make a second call, but that's a pretty minor inconvenience. The room itself was immaculate when we checked in, everything was gleaming and spotless. Five stars to the housekeeping staff!

We ate in the restaurant several times, both for the breakfast buffet and also for dinner. The breakfast was ok, but pretty standard. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, french toast, pancakes, pastries and fruit. Not too imaginative, well done but fairly boring and bland. Dinner was better, the menu was creative and well done, and everyone in our party was happy with both the choices offered and the quality of the food. The waitstaff was also excellent, very friendly and seemingly very happy to be there and be of help.

We did not have the chance to use the pool or waterpark, so I cannot comment on them, We did, however, walk into the waterpark about 15 minutes before closing time just to take a look at it, and were turned away pretty rudely by a female employee who told us to leave and come back the next day because they were closed. (even though according the clock they were still open).

Overall, a good experience, and I would return if I were in the area.

Room Tip: The one bedroom suite was roomy, and definitely large enough for six as advertised, with a queen bed...

This hotel is very nicely decorated with a rustic theme. The water park is small yet perfect for younger children. The pool and hot tub were located as part of the water park but as a hotel guest you could go for free. We utilized a groupon package which made it more affordable. The rooms were clean and there was food service by the pool which was reasonable for a water park. The location is perfect for Greek Peak customers and we loved the adventure center across the street. I found out after that when booking your hotel , if you book your other adventures you will get a discount. We had a loft room with full kitchenette which worked out great for us! Plus 2 bathrooms was a nice treat!

The hotel is beautiful, clean and easy to get to. The staff works extremely hard and it was very busy. The food at the Acorn Grille is excellent. The programs for the kids were great and some were free as long as the parent stayed with them. It was a nice break from the water. It was also nice to be able to pay a reasonable fee to leave them for a couple of hours with well trained staff and they had fun on the scavenger hunt through the hotel. Def get to the water park right as it opens to get a good spot because people put their stuff down the entire day and leave it. It would be helpful if there was a policy for this. The only thing I would suggest is there should be someone walking around to pick up garbage disgusting people unfortunately leave on the waterpark floor. I saw this twice and it was left there until I said something. It also seems to be understaffed. One person checking people in at both the front desk and waterpark. It does not cause the rest of the staff to work any less however. We kept observing how hard everyone worked with no attitudes, always smiling. Anxious to go back again someday and go to the adventure center.
