“Beautiful, but this hotel has no beach. Not quite worth the $$$.”
Reviewed 25 September 2007

I initially made contact with the hotel to see if they could accomodate my situation, I had only 2 nights on Praslin and wanted to stay here, despite their 3 night minimum rule. They were soo accomodating!
We took the Cat-Coco back and forth from Mahe, which, provided you don't get seasick, is much cheaper than flying, and drops you off less than a 5 minute taxi-ride from the hotel.
We arrived at the Chateaux and were greeted promptly, told to leave our luggage just where it was, and head up to the reception area. Checkin was quick, and then the tour began. The views from this property are absolutely incredible!
We stayed in a superior bungalow, which, despite the photo on the website, does not have it's own outdoor jacuzzi. Apparently ONE of them does, but we didn't see it. Everything you need is in the room (except a corkscrew), like slippers and bathrobes, cd player, bath salts and incense, although the tub could have been bigger, as it didn't accomodate two!
There are only 8 rooms to this hotel, which means all couples seeking romance. It was wonderful, but don't get your hopes up too high for meeting people and chatting it up before/after dinner.
The food is fantastic! Absolutely delicious. And the dinner experience is very romantic, so much so that my boyfriend found it the perfect time to propose! Wine is decently priced, but cocktails are ridiculously expensive (ie. 14-19 Euros EACH for 1oz). And you pay 4 Euros for a bottle of still water. Breakfast is very typically French, carbs and jam, tea/coffee/juice. Anything else will cost you.
Went up to the jacuzzi with the nice view after dinner and luckily the rooms have a flashlight, or you wouldn't see anything at all! Save this trip for the daytime. We never saw anyone in the pool.
The trip to the private island was not all it's cracked up to be, despite being our deciding factor in choosing this hotel. There is a beach on either side of island, with short spells of sand, but then it is very, very rocky and doesn't get any better. We saw (and experienced) numerous war scars from snorkelling. It is very shallow, (ie. you could float and still touch the rocks with your hand even 35m out) although you do see alot of beautiful fish. We even swam with a sea turtle! There is NO swimming/frolicking on this island. But it is a great place to see the giant land tortoises and various types of crab. The bbq lunch was wonderful.
This hotel has no beach. Don't let the website fool you. Do not miss Anse Lazio, or the restaurant there called Bonbon Plume (order the grilled fish!) The free rental car comes in handy!
All in all, we have no complaints about this hotel, except that we expected a beach, and more elegance/luxury for the price tag.

We spent most of our honeymoon in Chateau de feuilles and to my amazement we did not receive a single honeymoon treat whilst there. The least I would expect from a hotel you pay such nightly price for is the bedding to be changed everyday. Our bedding was not changed for 2 days in a row, the day before we left, the toiletries were not refilled and on the day we were leaving we were told we had to check out of the hotel at 10.30am. This will be the first hotel in all my years of travelling that states that checkout is at 10.30. we were actually having breakfast when one of the staff came to ask us if our suitcases were ready to moved out of the room! (What a nice way to say good bye to your guests). The food in the hotel especially the omelette for breakfast was the most horrible omelette I had ever had, as soon as you cut through the center, water gushed out - not nice. There was no flexibility in the kitchen because the menu was set daily, however I was very lucky that one of the staff arranged some sort of food for me. I found the food either too greasy, too salty or just did not compliment each other. The Creole food was very good however, the best we had there.
We also wanted to sit on one of the tables in the restaurants and we were told we could not sit there because it is the manager's seat - Never heard such rubbish before! However it was true, he came for dinner and alas he was sitting alone at the so called manager's table.
The grounds of the chateau was good and very clean and so were the rooms. The staff especially the ones in the restaurant were very nice and helpful.

We enjoyed a great stay at the Chateau de Feuilles for our honeymoon.
We stayed in a very beautiful and luxurious bungalow with a private jacuzzi (very romantic !) and a fantastic panoramic ocean view.
Try to stay over the weekend because the free excursion to the private Island Grand Soeur is an unforgettable experience (the beach of Grand Soeur is the most beautiful beach of the Seychelles with Source d'Argent on La Digue, so don't miss the excursion !)
Outstanding food and service.
There is a free rental car included in the room rate which is very useful to visit Praslin and to go swim to Anse Lazio (the most beautiful beach of Praslin).
We'll be back soon !

Chateau de Feuilles is not a real hotel-resort (in such case, stay at the showy and top-deluxe Lemuria), but more a private residence where guests (very few, only 8 bedrooms...) are treated with an extreme and personalized care. The location of the hotel is enchanting and very quiet, overlooking the sea and the surrounding islands from the top of a cliff. A car is offered with each bedroom, allowing the guests to easily visit the island of Praslin and its wonderful beaches. However, the Chateau has a nice swimming pool, a superb jacuzzi on the top of the property, and a beautiful tropical garden.

The bedrooms are not furiously luxurious, but simply comfortable (however, flat screen TV, DVD player...) and well decorated with typical materials. Each of them offers a sumptuous terrace with a magic view (n°12 is particularly wonderful, with two terraces offering the view on the two bays).

With regard to the restaurant, do not expect an open buffet or a large "A la Carte" choice: the half board of this "Relais & Chateaux" includes an extraordinary menu for dinner, each day different, offering the best fresh products available on the Island... and they are cooked with a very great talent : the chef is probably one of the best in Seychelles. The continental breakfast is also delicious, with home made pastries and marmelades.

To conclude, let us speak of the hospitality of the staff (extremely nice, congratulations to Ary and its team), and of the fabulous excursion, offered each week-end to guests of the hotel: you are conducted by a private motor boat to Sister Island, belonging to the Hotel's owner: the beach, just for you, is amazing (one of the most beautiful in Seychelles) and the barbecue prepared by Ary one of the best you can imagine.

A very great address to keep confidential: not an hotel, but a sort of private eden for happy fews (prices are quite high, but constitute one of the best values in Seychelles, where everything is extremely expensive).
