We would just like to thank the Danna hotel for making our stay and wedding extra magical for us and our family and friends. As soon as we arrived we were all welcomed with a cold drink and a massage. The hotel staff were very attentive and looked after us and our guests very well from the moment we arrived.
The impressive hotel with its elegant colonial style and centre courtyard garden is truely amazing. The hotel is also conviently located by the harbour with restaurants and cafes nearby if you fancy a change of scenery. The Privilege restaurant at the marina next to the hotel is a must.

The spacious rooms with the most comfortable four poster beds were beautifully decorated. The large sized balcony with comfortable loungers had beath taking views of the sea and pool. The large bathrooms with a walk in shower and bath that has views looking out at the sea and pool. The huge infinity pool was the perfect place to chill out and relax with all family and friends.

Our wedding all was all I planned and more, completely flawless. The staff really went out of there way to make sure the whole day ran smoothly. The set up the beach really was the perfect back drop.
We are very well travelled and always expect, and pay for the best, and we can genuinely say the Danna met all of our expectations and more.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to any couple looking to have the beach wedding of their dreams!! Again everything was incredible, from the organisatation of the day,to the food, servie and entertaiment. We had so many guests tell us the whole day was just breathtaking and beautiful. I just wish we could rewind and do the whole day over again ;).

Make sure you take the cablecar while you are on the island and charter a boat around the National Park and surrounding islands.A true paradise.

We are an active couple in our early 60's who enjoy luxury holidays at reasonable prices. After several holidays to Bali where we always stay at the Intercontinental, we decided to go somewhere different and after booking with Air Asia looked at their website which invited their passengers to book Hotels in Langkawi at Special Air Asia prices. They had several hotels to chose from and after some googling we decided to book the Hotel Danna which was situated in the area known as Pantai Kok. It turned out to be the best decision ever as apart from being a superb hotel with a delightful restaurant which served a superb breakfast and had an extensive evening dinner menu, there was a charming cafe serving afternoon tea and a pool bar which served meals around the gorgeous infinity pool. There was even a small band which performed nighly in the Hotel lounge but they rarely began before 9pm so we only managed to stay awake twice to see them but they were fun and if you wanted to dance the night away they would try to play any requests .
But the icing on the cake was that within 50 metres of the hotel was a small complex which had several fabulous bars and restaurants with several different nationality foods so there was no need to take taxis anywhere, it truly was a pefect place.
And I should mention the beds!!! OMG I have never had such comfortable pillows, in fact when I left the hotel I managed to obtain the name of their supplier and I hope to be able to buy some myself.
Langkawi is a very quiet holiday destination so if you are looking for night clubs and a heavy bar scene this is not the holiday for you but for people who love quiet relaxing holidays filled with sun, good food and well appointed hotels I can really recommend the Hotel Danna.
Thank you Hotel Danna for a truly memorable stay and we shall definately be back!

We had the pleasure of spending 2 whole weeks at the Danaa in January and it certainly deserves all the praise it gets. You certainly get the feeling that the guests are number one. The greatest asset the General Manager here has is his team. Without failure we were given first class service from very welcoming and friendly staff. The attention to detail here is also without fail. In the background there are teams of people constantly cleaning and polishing and giving areas a quick fresh coat of paint.

We particularly enjoyed our cooking demonstration which was put on at our request. Shamsu was a little star and remembered our water and coffee order on the beach every morning at just the right time. We were very touched when on our departure Zam gave us a gift of a lovely photo of us with his team who waited on us every day. Thank you again!

Without a doubt we will be back!

This was our second visit to Langkawi. The previous time we stayed at Casa Del Mar but now wanted something a bit more secluded so we chose the Danna instead. I'm not going to even try to compare the two as they are quite different, but I can wholeheartedly recommend both.

We stayed for 8 nights in a sea view room. I could go on and on about the size of it, or the amazing view, or how comfortable the bed was, but I'll just cut it short and say that it was probably the best hotel room we've ever stayed at. Absolutely fantastic. And it's not just the room - the whole hotel is stunningly beautiful both inside and outside.

While the beach in front of the hotel is only mediocre, the pool area is second to none. The pool itself is HUGE and has separate sections with jacuzzis etc. Poolside service is great with cold towels, water, fruits and snacks throughout the day and a happy hour from 4 pm. And they have quite a good number of sunloungers (very cozy by the way) too, just remember to wake up early if you want to catch the best spots.

Food: besides the excellent breakfast, we ate at the Planter's restaurant a couple of times and also had the poolside buffet once. Very good and reasonable prices. However, the award for best food on the island must go to Privilege at the marina next to the hotel. Wow. I really didn't expect to find a restaurant of this caliber in Langkawi! Food, drinks, service, prices - everything was spot on. Another restaurant that deserves a mention is the Loaf (next door to Privilege). It serves as a bakery and an all-day diner and has a surprisingly varied menu full of excellent dishes.

Last but not least, to say that the service at Danna is brilliant would be an understatement. All of the staff were genuinely friendly, extremely attentive and helpful and spoke excellent English. A warm thank you for making us feel at home from the first moment we stepped in!

Hope to be back some day.

We stayed at the Danna in February this year. From the moment we entered the hotel the friendly staff were very attentive and we were well looked after. We had booked a room with a seaview (Viceroy) and it was luxurious. The magnificent poster bed and the spacious bathroom were just fantastic. The massive balcony area had a large sofa and loungers and the view of the sunsets were stunning. We were reluctant to leave our room and had room service several times. In our view, it was the best hotel we had ever stayed in and we have stayed in many upmarket hotels in Asia. The breakfasts were unbelievable in the variety and choice of food available. Whilst much of this was buffet style, the cooked breakfast was made to order and served to your table. The champagne at breakfast was a special touch. Overall the food was of exceptional quality. The infinity pool and beach area were beautiful as was the hotel garden. On our last night we had dinner on the beach and we must thank Levis for making it a memorable experience. We also want to thank Zam and all the numerous staff we met for making our stay such an enjoyable experience. Thank you to everyone at the Danna.

Room Tip: Top floor (5th floor) with a seaview

Beautiful luxurious new hotel in the South West of the island.
Absolutely delightful staff - especially the concierge, front desk and cocktail bar. The staff could not have been more helpful when a minor medical emergency needed hospital treatment and they drove us to the local hospital at gone midnight. Definitely amongst the very best hotel staff I have ever encountered!
Beautiful large infinity pool although poolside bar is a little disappointing but this is made up for by happy hour on cocktails starting at 16hoo!
Rooms are large, cool and airy.
Restaurant is not up to the standard one would expect but breakfast is excellent and there are dozens of very good restaurants within a £7 taxi ride and some within walking distance.

I must admit I have delayed the writing of this review for a number of months as I have just returned from my second stay at The Danna in 4 months and wanted to make sure the first and second stay were consistently of the same standard. That my wife and I have returned so quickly, and have also booked a further 2 trips this year to the Danna speaks volumes of what we think of it.

We have been fortunate enough to stay at several hotels in Langkawi over the years including the Sheraton, Datai, Meritus and Casa Del Mar. The Danna in my opinion trumps them all in most aspects. However, keeping things honest there are a number of minor shortcomings that the Hotel should address.

The most irritating is definitely the habit of some guests in reserving the best cabanas and pool chairs, some to the point of waking up before dawn, chucking their towel on the deck chairs and returning to their rooms only to emerge hours later. The Hotel should have a policy and the staff should be vigilant and make the loungers and cabanas available should they be unattended for more than a few hours at a time.

Mostly we had a fantastic time at the pool but I have to note that the pool staff and waiters are selectively more attentive towards caucasian guests compared to locals such as myself. I thought at first it was an oversight but after the third evening of being summarily ignored at the pool I figured there was more to it. The neighbouring cabanas had no shortage of service wheras I saw nary a cold towel....ever.

Other than that we loved the hotel very much, and most of the staff are truly attentive. The rooms are the best on the island and the bathrooms are massive and luxurious. We stayed in the Countess suite which has brilliant Marina and Beach sunset views and massive balconies. The Boston Acoustics sound system with iPod dock worked flawlessly and the in room Illy espresso machine made great morning eye openers.

The four poster beds with massive pillows (you get to choose your perfect pillow from several choices) make for the best nights sleep and the blackout curtains make sure you aren't woken before you want to be.

The breakfasts are truly special and prepared to order so they are always fresh and flavoursome. Much superior to the masses of flaccid greasy fare you get at most hotel's steam tables and chafing dishes on their massive but mediocre buffet lines.

I do hope the hotel addresses the minor issues that we and other travellers have brought up on TA so that they can be just that bit closer to perfection. They are almost there, I cannot for the life of me figure out why they come second to a hotel like Casa (?!) but perhaps when they iron out the kinks they will get the top spot they deserve.
