The Danna is the place to go in Langkawi if you want some luxury with your relaxing.

It has the biggest pool on the island, and there is an abundance of places to stretch out in the sun or the shade. If you need more relaxing, head to the spa where you can have an authentic Malaysian massage and the therapist will make sure that all your knots disappear. Then take a bath in the deepest bathtub you'll ever see and fall into your luxurious bed.

The food is excellent, try to be there in a Friday for the beach barbeque. Or try the traditional Tippin lunch.

The relaxing sound of water is everywhere (fountains by the restaurant, by the pool, and a waterfall in the central courtyard).

Staff seem to really care about making sure you are having a wonderful vacation. I won't spoil the surprise of the great check-in experience!

The magnificent hotel and each of its staff member made our stay the most memorable. Their hospitality and quality of service cannot be even compared to the other hotels and resorts around the world. They are way above the rest in all aspects.
We were there to celebrate my husband's birthday and they made it an extra special day and holiday for him and us.
We wish them the very best and will surely visit them again.

We absolutely loved our 5 night stay at the Danna. Everything was first class from the room appointments, cleanliness, breakfast selection, restaurant, pool area, staff and service, day spa and location. I come from a hotel background and noticed every detail and length this hotel has gone to, to make every experience special! I would highly recommend this hotel! There literally is nothing I could comment as a negative. Thank you Danna keep up the good work! :)

we just came back from a 4 day 3 night escapade at the danna langkawi, and i shall write this review while the memory is still fresh in my mind.
we were welcomed with a cold towel and mini glass of refreshment, also complimentary massage given.first impression, the lobby exudes grandeur colonial feeling, very quiet and peaceful place, thus making me somehow apprehensive about bringing my five kids to this resort.i was somehow assured by the reservation team that this hotel does welcome kids prior to our arrival, but upon not seeing a single soul below the age of 12,a sense of panic seeps in.my 4 year old boy, once released from the tiring journey, decided to roll on the floor as a sign of happiness?,after some disapproving stares from other guests,he decided to sit on the chair.check in was smooth,we were whisked to our room in about 15 minutes.
our connecting rooms were facing the courtyard, actually there was a coconut tree directly in front of our balcony thus i could only hear the sound of the water minus the view.
the room:
we took the grand merchant connecting rooms.spacious,4 poster bed in my room with 2 single beds in the kids room.attention to details were obvious, extra bed were set up prior to our arrival, though i relayed this message 3 months earlier while booking.prayer mats were provided, though i hope next time the alcoholic beverage could be removed as well without requesting.well naturally these 2 items just don't go together hand in hand!bathroom was equipped with shower area and bathtub, plus his and hers vanity area.one suggestion is to provide bath salt, comb and razor kit.one thing to note is the bathroom has a sliding door that cant be locked, must be real useful for honeymooners but not for us with kids.gave us a sense of panic if ever any of my kids decide to play peek-a-boo while i was using the bathroom.
housekeeping:
efficient and thorough.cleanliness is top notch.the only glitch is i didn't see them using the vacuum cleaner for the piece of carpet in the room.maybe they didn't use it while we were in the room, but i hope the carpet is vacuumed daily.water bottles were supplied daily.
the pool:
the best part for the kids.the have the longest pool in langkawi (according to the staff).so crowding is never a problem.there will always be enough space for everyone.water bottles were given out at the poolside.i am not sure about other refreshment as mentioned by other guests, but i did order ice lemon tea,ice cream and coffee, and they were all charged to the room.towels were also given out, more than enough for everyone.again there were no kids in view for the 4 days we were there, but my kids behaved all the while we were there,no screaming, shouting or splashing at the pool,so other guests could really relaxed by the pool.we didnt even go down to the beach,i saw some jellyfish washed ashore, but the hotel provide a safe area for swimming should you desire to play at the beach.
food:
breakfast was good and adequate.enough food for all kinds of palate.you can also order eggs to be made to your preference.i ordered omelette for the first two days of my stay, and was pleasantly surprised to be asked by the chef on the third day if i would like to have omelette as well.he actually remembered!i noticed they also provide variety of wines alongside any other beverages you would like to have, and it is included foc!truly heaven on earth..on the other hand, the prices of meal from the coffee house is exorbitant.fish n chips was priced at rm70,it was only 2 pieces of fillets on fries.not even some salad on the side.fried rice was rm60 i think.the best option is to walk to the many shops available in front of the hotel.many restaurants available, plus a convenience store and laundry.
surrounding area:
there is a very nice area of al fresco dining by the marina right in front of the hotel.there are seafood place, western food, middle eastern food, pizza and a lot more.you really don't have to go anywhere else for food should you opt not to dine at the hotel.
i noticed some guests mentioned about the lighting of the hotel.yes the lighting is very dim to my liking, but as mentioned earlier, this place caters to honeymooners and couples seeking relaxation..so i guess that explains it.though a bit more brightness would be much appreciated, esp at the lobby area.
the service:
this will be the icing of the cake for my review.the service from the staff at danna is second to none.from the concierge, housekeeping, poolside, room service, reservation, they all seemed to be the product of the same mold.they listen, they care and they show it.they are friendly and genuine,i am really impressed!there was never one occasion that they walked past me without greeting and asking how everything was.the positive energy is felt throughout the hotel.it does wonders to our tired minds.i requested for a mini birthday celebration via sms while i was shopping in town for my son,and it was prepared perfectly to my request.to other 5 star establishment, send your people to this hotel to understand the true meaning of 5 star hospitality.words just dont do justice.
to future guests,if you have money to splurge, this is the place.you will be pampered to the best of your knowledge.danna has set the standards so high i am not sure any other hotels can match our expectation after this.this is one place where you will never find rowdy guests or screaming or shouting kids around.(my kids somehow will always be at their best behaviour when we travel so thank god for that!).they do cater to the little ones,as they have a well equipped kiddies club.to the danna team namely ms zamimah, kudos to the excellent job done.also thank you so much from all of us for the wonderful experience,as locals we have had discriminatory experience from other 5 star establishment compared to foreign tourist, but you will never find those kind of treatment at the danna.we will return, surely.so if u are contemplating a stay at the danna,go ahead and book, you wont regret it.trust me:)

Room Tip: all rooms are good.

We have been to Malaysia many times, but this was the best.
The Datai has a more stunning location in the rainforest, but the Danna beats it hands down on service.
Every single member of staff seems genuinely delighted to welcome and assist you. For example, Dinesh Kumar insisted on sending some delightful pastries to our room, just because they weren't available at breakfast time. Nothing is too much trouble. This speaks volumes for the induction/training programme led by Pascal, Hafiz and the management team.

Special thanks to Ingo. It was my wife's birthday during our stay, and the staff made sure it was a very enjoyable one - complete with birthday cake and a bottle of wine. The pool is fabulous!

We look forward to returning at a future date.

Great, clean five star hotel. Pool was lovely, we did not swim at the beach due to jellyfish. The staff could not do enough for us, the service was excellent by all. The room was lovely and very large, we had a room on the second floor facing the ocean. The housekeeping was also excellent with our room cleaned and serviced twice a day. The hotel is a 20 minute taxi ride from the 'action' and we did go into town for dinner on one occasion. However, we found the food in the hotel to be better than any we had, had on the island so ended up eating most meals there. The selection of the restaurants in the marina next door were ok, the convenience store was handy and we also got some washing done and the laundromat.
The hotel however did quieten down after 10pm, and it was a little 'sterile' and missing that little 'something' as mentioned in other reviews. However- you will love every minute of your stay here!

We came to Danna's Hotel in order to find peace and for the rest hanging a few days. We found the ideal place: comfort, irreproachable service, warm welcome and delicious breakfast. The services for the children are also brilliant and friendly (baby-sitting and kiddy's club). We shall return. It is sure!
