We loved our stay <3 the stuff was over well educated, The rooms were beautiful, the food delicious, the hotel location is just perfect, most if the attractions are just next to it!!!

Every thing was perfect thanks to Barry, Shafiq, Paul, Jasvinr, Awan, and every one in the stuff!

Our stay at The Danna was top notch. I can't say enough about the service of the staff.
Accommodating, happy, pleasant, and always asking if there is anything to make your stay more pleasant.
The included breakfast is outstanding with so many choices and even delivered to your table if you would like to order off the daily menu. It has local and western choices and free flow of champagne.
The infinity pool is the largest in Langkawi and poolside service is INCREDIBLE. Sunglass cleaning, cold towels offered, dry towels changed out constantly, cold bottled water (with a Danna label) offered often & free of charge.
Drinks are 1/2 price from 5-7 out by the pool, 7-9 inside at the Veranda lounge (also a fun gathering place!).
I only wish that the bar area around the pool was more inviting to gather around.
Our room was very spacious, had a really comfy bed, was really clean and well appointed.
Fresh fruit & water was always present and when we tried to go acquire ice, the staff insisted that we just pick up the phone and they would fetch it for us :-)

I would suggest skipping the Friday BBQ buffet & dance show. It was quite pricey and just average.
The staff dancers are pleasant & try hard (a bit hokey actually) but for the price tag, they really should hire a more professional performance.

The Danna is very near some great restaurants. My suggestions:
Privilege - Awesome & unique.
Mangoes Bar - Delicious homemade German/European food & dirt cheap. (20RM cab ride away)

We stayed here for 5 days at the end of an already amazing Honeymoon. Surpassed expectations in terms of quality and service. Rooms fantastic and incredibly comfortable beds, relaxed with ease the whole time there. Service was super efficient and views from the pool amazing. Happy hour is a must as cocktails are superb. Only one downside was the views of mainly a car park from our room balcony.

Room Tip: Request a sea view room if possible

Staff was as expected of a 5-star hotel, always smiling and greeting you, and always willing to help. We stayed at the merchant room, which had ample space and the bed was very comfy. Loved the pool and the pool service (had cold towel and snack offered once, and always complimentary cold water bottles available should you need to cool down). The happy hour from 5pm-7pm was very welcome as well, with cocktails and drinks going at half price.

We had a late flight out so we really appreciated that the staff gave us a complimentary "shower" room after we got back all dirty and sweaty from our jet ski tour. That was really helpful and we felt like they took care of us even though we had checked out :)

Downsides of hotel (not a deal breaker):
1. Really far from all the happening spots (except for cable car).

we rented a car and had to drive a good 20-25 mins to get to all the good restaurants at Pantai Cenang. This is good if you just want to laze around at the hotel, but we couldn't do it because we didn't like the food very much, which brings us to point no.2

2. Restaurant food could REALLY improve to match the standards of a five-star hotel.

We checked out the restaurant opened in the afternoon and I ordered a spaghetti marinara fully expecting fresh seafood since we are on an island after all. I got frozen squid, frozen mussels in a bland sauce. OK the prawns were fresh but still, I don't see why the pasta's price was so hiked up when it was fast food joint quality.

Breakfast looked impressive but was a letdown too. Pancakes were a dry affair while the mains offered were boring and bland. Springrolls were soggy and I had the worst sushi here. Ended up eating hash browns most of the time. We had far better breakfasts at plenty of other cheaper hotels. Although I did like the champagne, nice addition :)

With that said, as long as you don't intend to dine much in the hotel, it's still a fantastic place to stay at. We loved the rooms, the pool, the service, everything actually. And we wouldn't mind coming back for another stay.

I am sure this review will not do justice to how truly wonderful this hotel is. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms very spacious and comfortable. The pool was stunning and there were plenty of day beds available both on the beach and by the pool. The location is away from the main city centre which might not appeal to some but it was a short distance to travel to get everywhere and the views of the marina and the peace and quiet suited us perfectly.
The food was fantastic and I highly recommend the trio of rendang and the mee memak. My husband recommends the pad thai and my son the satay sticks. The food quality surpassed our expectations. We visited two highly recommended restaurants which were lovely but failed to compete with the food we enjoyed at The Danna. The breakfast buffet offered really nice options and it had items available different to the standard breakfast offerings at hotel buffets. The champagne available at breakfast included in the buffet was a luxurious touch.
That brings me to the staff. This is the thing that stood out to us beyond the other incredible things already discussed. A special mention to Igor who looked after our every need including setting up an introduction to another child my sons age for him to play with during our stay. The recommendations given were informative and exactly what we were looking for. When the staff found out we were trying to make this a special trip for our son they went out of their way to make sure it was a great holiday for him. They gave him special desserts and a gift on our last day. Every staff member made us feel welcome and we genuinely felt like they were happy to have us staying here. Whilst I have especially mentioned Igor I could also list many more staff members along with him.
The only thing that wasn't as perfect as everything else is that the pool in the afternoon was quite warm. It was still nice but more like a warm bath than a refreshing swim. That being said in the morning and early afternoon the temperature was perfect.
We sadly leave tomorrow but we leave as very happy guests of the Danna who happily recommend it. In fact my advice is to book here without hesitation as I am sure you will not be disappointed. we look forward to returning for another stay.

Room Tip: we had a sea view room which had a stunning view and extra room.

We stayed at the Danna after reading the amazing reviews and we were not disappointed in the slightest. It was outstanding. The setting is incredible a huge colonial building in its own bay with a marina and beach to top it off. Huge bedrooms with beautifully done bedrooms and bathrooms. The staff and the made the hotel what it is - the breakfast was the main highlight with a summary newspaper, a menu to order exquisite a la carte deliciousness, a huge buffet of western and Malaysian Treats and free flow prosecco - just amazing. The second biggest highlight was the cocktails which are incredibly cheap, huge and delicious. The free bar snacks in the varandah and the live band were so good! Lastly the restaurant is HUGELY underrated here we went to the planters on the last day and had the beef wellington and it was jaw dropping good - we are huge foodies and british so hard to impress with beef! We also ordered the house red and it was suprisingly delicious. The spa was expensive and good but not outstanding. The privillage restaurant next door to the hotel was average in my opinion but dinner at casa del mar was very good. All in all it was amazing. Go to the Danna, enjoy the service, have as many breakfast's there as you can and eat at least one dinner in the restaurant and make yourself available for happy hours.... enjoy!

We stayed here for 8 days and loved every moment. We were made to feel so welcome the moment our driver picked us up. We were upgraded to a beautiful room where we surprised with a complimentary bottle of wine to start of our honeymoon. The room service is fast and efficient and the menu is very extensive. The pool was amazing. We spent many days just lazing about. The pool is so big that no one gets in your way and you feel like you have it to yourself. If you don't feel like eating at the hotel, there is a marina - (1 min walk) that has many resturants to choose from. We didn't do much but pure relaxation but if you want to do activities, I would definitely recommend hiring a car (not expensive at all through the hotel) and explore the island. We did a private boat door across the Mangrove River which was awesome. We chose to do the cable carts on the foggiest day which was a disappointment . If you do that- plan ahead with weather. I would recommend this place for people who don't want to do much but enjoy well deserved R n R. We'll definately try to come back one day.
