“beautifull Farmhouse and dunehouse”
Reviewed 21 December 2012

Grootvlei Guest Farm is outside of Lamberts Bay on a dirt road. Fortunatly we got the only room left for the night. The place is beautifull, with a big eye for details. Edmund is constantly working on his place and you see his love for the place all over. Our room was nice, size was ok, but the closet smelled a little moldy, after we opened the doors, the room smellde a little bit too.
Edmund send us to the nearby Muisbosskrem Restaurant, wich is an experience, but your clothes smelling after that like you got smoked.
Breakfast was very good, a good variety of fruit, bread, ham and cheese and a hot one cooked to order.
When in Lamberts Bay this is a good place to stay.

We loved this place, and in keeping with everyone we met in SA great, friendly hosts. It us such an interesting building with a fantastic location. Stunning views. Very querky in its design which makes it really interesting to stay in. The main farm where breakfast is taken is fantastic...very open, clean, and modern in design.
Would love to stay there again

A five star experience! The house is situated on the sea front with two large barbeque areas that are protected from the West Coast winds. The whole building is decorated in a rustique, truly West Coast style but is still as luxurious as any 5-star hotel. The staff welcome you with all the warmth and friendliness that have become characteristic of the West Coast people. This has truly been an unforgetable experience for me and my family and I will gladly recommend it to anyone. A must for any West Coast vacation !

The different venues, beautiful guesthouse, beach and friendly management and staff made our stay and the wedding of my daughter an extraordinary experience. The photographs of the wedding venue on Stephan Marais Photography on facebook (Denzil &Ingrid) will give you a good indication of this gem on the West Coast!

Room Tip: Rooms with a seaview in the main guesthouse or the rooms "Oppiduin" are magic.

A fantastic place to stay. Edmund is a charming host who will do whatever is necessary to make your trip perfect. We stayed in a beautiful room in the main house but Edmund gave us the key to spend a day at the beautiful beach property. So we had the best of both worlds. Sitting on the patio overlooking the beach, drinking wine and watching the sunset was a holiday highlight. We felt so far away from the hustle and bustle of the real world, it was a very romantic place to be.
We ate at Isabella's in Lamberts Bay which totally overcame our first impressions. It is in the working harbour and next to a chip factory! The food was great, very reasonably priced and the activity in the harbour - a seal catching his own dinner and the huge number of birds kept us entertained! The whole of the western cape area is a treasure to be discovered if you want to escape the holiday crowds, see breathtaking seascapes, amazing mountain areas, rock formations and cave paintings. We will be going back to see the spring flowers.

Room Tip: If you want romance and privacy go for the beach rooms.

It is worth going here just to listen to the charming host Edmund who can keep you entertained
for ages ,after all he built the place.

The house is a few miles out of Lamberts bay and inevitably involves a short stretch of unmade road ,but don't let that put you off,the room was perfect although we did have the room heater on at night and this was in november .The breakfast was good but the highlight of our stay was a tour of the beach house by Edmund a few hundred yards away.(again built by Edmund). This was truly amazing overlooking the sea with its own beach and no other persons in view as far as the eye could see.

He gave us the key the following day and we enjoyed a picnic sat in the sun all on our own .
Priceless.
