We were a group of 2 couples with a kid of 1.5 years, since already two people have given their comments i don't want to reiterate the same.
Some additional points:
1.Twice during the first day dinner and the next day breakfast the owner told indirectly that we are consuming large quantity of food.
2.The second day dinner the chicken curry which was prepared had max 10 pieces [for a group of 4], i think thats the way the owner felt that our food can be controlled.
1.Since you are paying 3k/ night we expected the basic housekeeping stuffs to be done once you are back the next day. Even we informed the same when going out also that please do clean the rooms and toilet and change the bed sheet as we have a one and half year kid.
On coming back we saw the room as it was and the reason mentioned was it seems we have not kept the door open and she started arguing as if she is doing some charity and when it gets out of control she will play the feminine card and goes to personal level which is also evident from the response given by her to our fellow traveller's review
I think everything started off with this incident and to take revenge for the same the next day billing she increased the food price from Rs 300 to Rs 400 per head saying it is a season price which it seems she has forget to mention initially on phone.
When we were asking about the details why it is the case, then again it goes down to we are letting you guys to use our facilities [btw all the things mentioned were in the amenities section and there is no mention of any charge ].
Now i know the management response for this one also [ like my other two fellow travellers who had provided reviews] will be that it seems i have not visited the place itself or i am a bogus reviewer or am a man who is showing his manly claim.
As my friend suggested "If one is in the business of hospitality then the business handling needs to be much sharper."
And yes about the rating i could have given None but giving One only for the GUY who keeps on doing all stuff with a broken hand and the pet dog with whom my kid has spent a good time.Cheers :)
Booked this place directly as the owner informed that the current units are booked in TripAdvisor, but if we pay 500 Rs extra there is a bigger room we can avail. With limited options for the long weekend, we went for this.
The location is nice but the property itself has a lot of scope for improvement. The rooms have been given with basic amenities. One king size bed ( the mattress was really hard) and one spare single bed. There is no WiFi, no TV in rooms, no table, no cabinet and no closet to keep clothes. The windows do not have nets, and since it's in a coffee estate insect are plenty. So basically you need to keep your windows closed all the time. The bathrooms have a tiled roof and dirt keeps falling off those making the floor messy. We had to keep pouring water to clean. Rooms don't have water jugs but water is kept in old monks bottles which we weren't sure to consume. We had to buy water since we saw cockroaches around the water purifier and didn't risk it.
The staff is helpful but the place is understaffed. One guy with a finger injury was trying to do the cooking, cleaning and managing the rooms with one hand. We felt sorry for the poor guy.
The breakfast spread is about average. The upma and poha served on both the days were bland and dry. Puri sabji is just ok. The place doesn't serve lunch so we ate out based on the recommendation given by the owner.
For dinner, we had pandi curry ( pork masala) which was really tasty. Unfortunately, the biriyani and the chicken curry was below par. For day two dinner we had fish rava fry which was nicely done but other items like chicken curry and rice balls could have been better. The spread needs to be worked upon.
We were told initially that veg dinner price are 250per head and nonveg was 300. When we received the bill it was bumped out to 400 per head. It seems it was seasonal pricing and the owner forgot to mention it. We ended up paying 800 rs extra. At 1600 bucks for 4 you can eat your heart out in Bangalore itself. It left us feeling cheated.
The owner needs to work on her customer service skills. She gets defensive if any mistake is pointed out. She treats it like a personal insult. If one is in the business of hospitality then the business handling needs to be much sharper.
Overall wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
Had been to Coorg just this weekend (May 1) and I wont deny that this was the most unpleasant homestay experience i have ever got. We were a group of 2 couples with a kid of 1.5 years and the stay has not been upto the expectations. To start with I would recommend the owner to have a proper customer communication which explains all the facilities (including milk, tea, gas usage etc.) and the costs attached to them as we were billed some hidden costs with the meal and the explanation was "we forgot to indicate the seasonal prices". You are in customer driven business and I think their satisfaction is one thing that should matter. Defensive approach may ruin things. Cleanliness is one thing to focus on, you can find some spiders and cockroaches giving you company in the room and the kitchen area in dining. Food was just ok, not many options to choose among. Every guest is different and may have different food choices, Management needs to understand that there has to be diversity in spread and the quantity since you are billing us good. To me this place was understaffed and lacked some of the basic necessities like soap in the washroom and a usual room cleaning which is provided in other places. And yes, really not a choice when you are with such a small kid as getting the room cleaned and sanitized is a challenge and you may end up living in the same mess. Overall an unpleasant stay among all the homestays I have ever lived in, the services, customer approach and basic amenities could be way better.
It was great experience staying at Mitra!
We stayed for 2 nights. The room was spacious and comfortable considering that we were a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) staying in one room. The food served was also very good.
The Homestay is located in a very quiet and calm surrounding which was very much to our liking. The bonfire was a welcome add on.
The place is exactly as per the description.
The striking feature of course is the hospitality. We felt at home instantly and loved the hosts!!
We highly recommend the place.
Thanks to aunty and Megha for making the stay memorable for us.. we would love to be back again.
We booked short in advance and we're lucky to even get a room.
When we arrived really early in the morning we were welcomed friendly.
WE were enjoying a wonderful time with great food and nice talks. They even lit a bonfire for all guests!
We were 8 guys booked all home for 2 days, we expect to loose ourself and it happened with greatest hospitality from host Megha and Shanthi mam.
The food was extremely great - had chicken gravy with fish fry along with rice balls. From all of the food tasted in different hotels at madikere- the dinner at stay was great and tummy friendly.
Went along the homestay for more than 3 km,s accompanied by blacky- the most welcoming pet.love to be back again in the coolest season.
Located 6kms away from Madikeri..has very good connectivity to all the tourist spots..peaceful place!!..Nice place for family friends and couples to chill out.Very well maintained home..Very beautiful coffee plantation right in front the home. Thanks to Prakash uncle and Ramji for their wonderful gesture through out our stay.Breakfast was good.Overall a very good experience through out our stay here... Looking forward to visit again !!
