“A great resort”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 November 2013

I have stayed in many "resorts" in Thailand, and generally they have ranged from indifferent to dreadful. This is one of the minority which is really worth visiting.

We stayed two nights here in a Thai House. The accommodation was small, but very clean and had a nice little balcony looking over a large lily pond. The site is very large and the accommodation well spaced out. Service was very good, and the staff friendly. On the second night, we had the resort to ourselves - weekends it is filled with Bangkok short breakers - but nonetheless the staff put on a very good breakfast for us, with freshly brewed tea and coffee, fresh milk (all too rare) and a good freshly cooked ABF.

The only downside is the restaurant appeared not to be open, there being nowhere I can recommend in Pak Chong, a true culinary desert.

We would definitely stay again and have booked for Christmas.

Room Tip: Thai houses are quite small. Go for a more expensive room.

My partner and I visited middle of the week at "peak-of-low-season", extremely pleasant and quiet - we even had the WHOLE resort to ourselves on one night!!

We stayed in Thai House for 2 nights, overlooking the lotus pond. The gardens of the whole domain (~140 rai) are exquisitely developed and maintained, a nice peaceful walk at night. Situated quite far off the main road to the Park, so worth having a car for ins and outs.

Resort staff were pleasant, even took us in for a 10am breakfast one morning (on a case of severe jetlag!). The place must obviously be more busy with the Bangkok crowd over weekends, so cannot really tell whether the peacefulness is maintained even on busier days. Definitely recommended!

Room Tip: Thai House rooms are quite small but cozy. Might be worthwhile trying the Bali House...

one step of our tour through thailand was the khao yai national park. at arriving there were some touts at the bus station but we want a pool at our accomodation, so we headed for the lilawalai resort. the food was ok, typical thai food and the pool were clean. the breakfast buffet was plenty full of local fruits and enough.
the first night we had a mouse or squirrel in our room wanted to get outside and made a lot of noise but after a while it was gone.
we booked a tour with an local for the khao yai np. we´d good guides, explaining a lot of things and we saw a lot of animals and birds. the very very best hightlight were the elephant we saw. we made a lot of photos.
on departure date the hotelier drove us to the train station. thank you!

We stayed here for 2 days in Apr 2013, loved the way they have maintained the resort and planted such beautiful plants and flowers makes you feel you are in paradise.
The foods is good too and quite reasonable.Nice pool for kids to play.
Its a little far from the National Park so advisable to have a car.
All in all a great and peaceful experience at an affordable price.

Room Tip: Take rooms in the B or C blocks

We spent Christmas at this log cabin resort in a beautiful setting. Rooms had aircon but that was not needed (12 degrees in the morning). Easy to access and superb service. The menu is limited but we were exploring Khao Yai so that was less important. Breakfast was good and included. Great breeze in the mornings. Peaceful yet just a few kilometres from the main access road to Khao Yai National Park (and we did need to go to a pharmacy). Would recommend personal transport (or a car and driver).

Ok place but my Thai friend's new IPad was stolen from her room when the group was out to dinner. Needless to say this put a big damper on the weekend. We'll never return to Lilawalai because of this.

I booked a little Thai bungalow for a cheap price (15 euro) in October 2009; unfortunately the manager didn't tell me in his mail that the spartan hut is situated outside of the resort; by arrival I was told that a bungalow inside of the resort would cost twice as much; unfortunately the bathroom was open air and full of insects and the breakfast was very poor; although the staff was helpful it has only little knowledge of English. I fell betrayed !
