The only reason to come here is visit Khao Yai, and Bobbys puts on an excellent tour. We stayed 4 nights and did the 2 and a half day outing. Every aspect was excellent, except Bobbys location which is near a busy main road. However we slept OK and the nearby Tesco store was a welcome change from typical SE Asian small shops.

Room Tip: Always check your room first and ask to change if it is not OK

Bobby's is a well-run place with simple, basic but comfortable rooms and very good food. The only reason to stay in Pak Chong (and Bobby's) is for the access to the National Park so Bobby's location on the edge of town (handy to a big Tesco Lotus) is not an issue as they provide a free pick-up and drop-off service from town and the tours leave from Bobby's.
The jungle tours are fantastic, Arun (Mr Sexy) is an enthusiastic and entertaining guide with a passion for nature and a keen eye for spotting wildlife. Most people seem to do 1 and a half day tours as we did, although we liked it so much that we tacked an extra day on. You will see different things on different days. The bats are awesome and we also saw elephants, barking deer, guar, gibbons and lots of spectacular hornbills. We didn't camp, although we dropped a party off to stay a night in the park and rejoined them the next day. We were well rested having gone back to enjoy the cold beer and wonderful food at Bobby's, I'm not so sure about the campers.

Got a pick up from the train station, the owners are very nice and helpfull. We did the the 1,5 day jungletour and that was a lot of fun. If you go there, try the delicious Masaman curry (best I had in Thailand!!). Rooms and bathrooms are clean. Location is perfect for the tour. Maybe not so good if you go there and want to do something else, not much around.

Although I enjoyed the jungle tour, it would probably be the same if booked with other tours or guesthouses. The owner made me feel very unwelcome and the guesthouse is located next to a highway and no real options to do anything when there. The tour guide was very rude and the tour was not at all as advertised. I would recommend to go to one of the other cheap guesthouses.

I took the 1.5 day tour and my experience was a very positive one. The first half-day started slow by swimming in a hot spring which felt warm at most considering I had been diving in Phi Phi the day prior but ended on a very good note with the visit of a cave and the sight of millions of bats (seriously, there's a ridiculous amount of them!). The other day was pretty good as well. The tour guide, Ben, loved what he did and it was obvious. We started by a 4h trek in the jungle during which we say Gibbon monkeys and almost got charged by deers (very cool!). We then went to a very nice quiet water fall where we spotted a pretty big water monitor lizard and swam a little bit in the cold water (which was welcome after a hot trek). There was even a possibility of cliff jumping the fall, which surprisingly, only Ben and I did. The tour finished with some attempts at elephant spotting in a pick-up truck. As we were about to give up the search, the guide overheard a noise in the forest while driving and we were met by a family of 4 elephants which we observed in their natural habitat for a good half hour. The mother elephant was somewhat concerned about our presence at first and threatened us a bit (very cool experience), but settled down after a few minutes.

The hotel was basic, but the rooms had the minimum required despite the beds being very stiff. That said, you get what you pay for and the price for the rooms was very reasonable. The restaurant was good as well, but since the hotel is a little remote to everything else, you don't really get a choice and pretty much have to eat there unless you've got your own transportation.

Everyone we met there was very friendly; the owner, Mike, kept making sure all of our needs were looked after and arranged a pick-up/drop off at the bus station.

Overall, a very good experience that I would do again.

We stayed at Bobby's apartment for 2 nights and did the 1 and 1/2 day jungle tour. The room was the most spacious, clean and comfortable I have stayed at in Thailand in this price range. We arrived just in time for lunch before the 1/2 day tour, and I can say the food was excellent. Large servings of great curries - which can be adjusted for a foreign palate. The guides on the tour were really lovely and enthusiastic. The full day in the jungle was a real highlight. If you are short on time the 1/2 day component could be missed - its only really worth it to see the bats come out at night! The best thing about this weekend away was the people. We were really lucky as we had an excellent group on our tour, who we were then able to share meals and drinks with back at the accommodation. Max, the owner, was very laid back and helpful in making sure everything was ok and helping us get back to Bangkok. Highly recommended.
