“Great Stay in Khao Yai”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

Location: Picturesque! Close to Khao Yai National park on a little side road surrounded by nature. Lush grounds, set in a garden.

Service: Great, very attentive. The minute we drove into the car park we were meet by an attendant and our bags were quickly whisked away.

Room: All dark wood, lots of teak, french doors, nice windows that offered great views!

I also liked the variety of room options. I've stayed at the PhuWanalee Resort twice and both times I have stayed in a more traditional hotel room with Thai furnishings. But, in addition to the more traditional hotel rooms, the resort also offers villas and upscale tents.

Food: Dinner options were plentiful and the food was great. When one of the meals was not cooked as we had requested, the chef personally came to our table cheerfully and asked us how we would like the dish prepared and after he prepared it, he returned to our table to see how we liked it. I was impressed by this service.

Breakfast: There are plenty of Asian options, but for western options one needs to make a request to the waiter/waitresses. I didn't know this during my first visit, but after learning this on my second visit I was able to find more options during breakfast.

Nice place for families, the solo travel, and couples.

Both times I have stayed at the PhuWanalee I have enjoyed my experiences. I highly recommend it and look forward to staying there again.

Choose the tent instead of standard rooms would be an interesting experience when perfect match with Kyao Yai theme where a silence natural place. Only a few tents in the resort where simple but clean and safe enough to stay there just you may still have the chance with visitors but it's kind of natural experience which traveler should have well prepared already. Tent size is suitable for max two people and a short stay. Staff are very friendly and helpful where is a lovely getaway place to stay.

I love Thai hotels like these! Located a little remote from the main street this hotel offers everything the heart could wish for: a pool for refreshing in the heat, nature, a huge lovely garden, trails through the jungle and a lot do discover. We stayed in one of the Boutique tents and it was awesome! So close to nature we wake up with the sound of the animals around us. Only the mosquitos disrupted our luck. Super service! Friendly service staff! The breakfast was okay but nothing to get excited about. The Nationalpark is around the corner so the resort is a perfect basis for an adventure in the park.

Room Tip: In Google Maps this hotel is not spotted at the right place. Look for the street signs when you arri...

We spent 2 nights at this hotel for visiting Khao Yai NP. The location for that is perfect and since we came by car we had no problem getting to and from the hotel. ( This might be tricky if you arrive to the region alternatively). The whole complex is well maintained and the rooms had a good size. We visited in April (lower season) and were almost the only guests. It is just what you prefer.. Some might like this private party others won't; for 2 nights it was perfect. We could eat at the hotel for a fair price or at one of the local street restaurants down the street (10 min walk)
Only the staff spoke almost no English, so ordering or asking for advice if needed would have been difficult.

2900 Baht for the room (in the main building), we thought a bit overpriced. Our experience is that one should always look at Agoda to compare prices, often Agoda is cheaper than the price the hotel itself gives you. Phuwanalee was cheaper on Agoda than the price the lady at reception gave us when we drove up in our rental car. But do pay attention as prices can be inclusive or exclusive hotel tax and service tax.
The hotel is pleasant, well maintained, dust free, decorated with lots of wood and a kind of antique furniture. Friendly staff. Pleasant overall experience.

We liked the room, it was spacious and clean. Soft humming aircon, comfortable beds. Unfortunately the 14 channels on TV were only Thai channels, not one international channel! We found no hot water coming out of the taps when we arrived end of the afternoon. Why?
Wifi is a bit slow and only available in public areas, in the room one must pay to receive Wifi.
As I have said in other reviews: wifi is like soap in the bathroom, it should be there for free.

We got the impression this hotel caters mostly to Thai customers as nothing is indicated in any other language then Thai and most staff speak very little or no English at all.
I do not understand why, in a country where tourism is so important for the economy, English is not better spoken. This should really be improved. Have kids watch Sesame street :-) and learn English. This hotel could work on it, with their room prices, I am sure some money is left to invest in an English language course.......

Breakfast buffet is nothing special, limited choice. You can order an omelette. Breakfast is served inside. Why not outside, next to the pool? But again, Thai probably prefer to sit in the (cold) aircon while most tourists would enjoy morning breakfast outside under a parasol or leafy tree, with a few air fans around.

Lovely pool but only 4 loungers. They were occupied, so where do we lie down? Why does the hotel not add a couple more loungers around the pool or on the grass?
Hotel has a lovely garden. We asked to look at a tented room. They look ok but inside they smelled bad. The outside of the tent was a bit greenish with moss. I would not recommend the tented rooms.
We had a pleasant stay, but will consider another hotel next time.

We stayed in rooms in the main building and they are comfortable and well decorated. They hotel has a nice swimming pool and the staff is friendly & service minded.

I only think that the restaurant should do better, both in quality as in choice of food & drinks. No wine, only 2 kind of beers, no cocktails, no nice desserts.

Room Tip: I think that the "tent" rooms are a bit depressing both in the location (dark area) as in...
