“Horrible experience!!!”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

It's very bad service!!! I and my family decided to visit Piano Resort Khao Yai because we had not other choices.... First we reached there, the staffs in information told us that we cannot got the room on that time (3.30 pm.) because of the household didn't finish the clearing yet.... So we need to wait until 4-5 pm..... Why we need to wait? It is not our fault.... We paid for full price and we should can get to the room in checking in usually time.... Moreover, staffs just served us the tap water!!!! And said please wait here... We are so tried from the long journey. My dad said "Are we in the hell!" .. DAMMM!!!

Shown a twin and a double room upon arrival so selected a double room with a better view but on returning to reception to check in was told that this room would cost 500 Baht more because it had only one bed as opposed to the twin with 2 beds. At a cost of 2,000 baht per night inclusive of breakfast we elected to go with the twin but if they had told us the additional cost was for the view we may well have taken that room. The room was clean & reasonably appointed for this country property. Breakfast was adequate offering western as well as Thai but the coffee leaves a lot to be desired. Unlikely to stay here again as dearer than most hotels in the area.

We were a group of four adults (Thais and Europeans) and one child staying for 2 nights. We booked a 2 bedroom suite so that we had space in the evenings to relax as a group and for my daughter to have her own space in the living room.

I could write a book on how bad this hotel is but to keep it short i will bullet point our experience:
- 2 bedroom suite booked was unavailable due to water damage from a leaking pipe. We were offered two other rooms, but no real apology for the original room being unavailable.
- Reception staff were keen to take our extra breakfast money before informing us of the problem with the room. This money was later returned to us but the damage had been done.
- Normal rooms were very poorly finished, fittings in bathroom were rusty and the water pressure was more of a dribble. Hot water came and went as the hot water heater was far too small to be effective.
-Suite room was damaged downstairs due to flooding but upstairs was liveable. Bathroom was poorly finished and dirty, water pressure was a joke. Bedsheets stained. Not enough towels in the room for occupants. No hot water initially as fuse downstairs had blown.
- TV in living room was in the far corner and unable to be moved so had to sit at a funny angle to see it properly. Living room and Kitchenette were basic and not clean.
- At 7pm on the second night we received a call to say another suite was now available for us to move in to. This was bad timing as we had only booked for two nights and would be checking out in the morning. Again this suite was not cleaned properly. Bathrobes and slippers were stained and smelt used. Bathrooms dirty again.
- Breakfast was very basic, somewhat random selection on offer. The orange juice tasted like powdered juice. Coffee was like tar. On the second morning we didnt bother taking breakfast. we just checked out.
-Wi-fi in the second suite was not available as we were too far from the base station in the main hotel building.
- Took 30 minutes and three calls for a golf cart to collect us and our baggage at check out. Bear in mind that the suite was only a five minute walk from the reception so 30 minutes was excessive.

On the whole we had a very frustrating stay which was a real shame as the surrounding area is very beautiful.

We will visit Khao Yai again but not this hotel.

Nicely appointed modern building in convenient location for Palio and Khao Yai National Park. Well furnished rooms but pricey for what they offer. WiFi everywhere but slow. Website vague about facilities - primarily because they are very few here. No gym, spa only open at weekends, nice pool but the pool area wasn't kept clean whilst I was there. A soiled nappy left for two days.

This place has a Thai customer base in mind however. Breakfast has very limited European options with an egg station, toast, some sausages and ham ( both bathing in water! ) . The coffee and tea are both on heated rings so the coffee is thick and strong and the tea stewed. A lot of the crockery at breakfast was chipped but when i pointed this out ot the staff nobody seemed to care. There was a greater range of Thai food at breakfast but it didn't look too appetizing.
There is no satellite or cable TV. 8 Thai channels, one Japenses channel and Aljejera news! I wanted to watch the Olympics whilst there but no joy - I'm missed all the GB medals on the Saturday. No taxis available at reception so if you want to go out for a meal someone will have to drive. No bar to speak of either in the hotel just a few seats in the restuarant. The restuarant is very small but offers a good selection of European and Asian ( Thai and Japanese) cuisine. Prices are high and the service unbelievably slow. Like many Thai places main courses come before starters and both are lukewarm at best. A duo played in the restuarant, he played piano and violin and she sang. All Thai music, most of it really old and uninspiring. No wonder the restuarant was very, very quiet.
Not somewhere I would rush back as there is such as great choice of resorts in this area

Room Tip: Unless you are Thai - try somewhere else
