“Don't go here!!!!”
Reviewed 21 August 2009

Don't go here! This was the most expensive stay of my holiday this year, and funny enough the most terrible stay!! The staff isn't friendly and helpfull at all. They even didn't want to arrange a taxi for us from the busstation and to the trainstation, just take the local bus they say!while greenleaf guesthouse had a pick up service!). The big swimming pool was lovely, if it wasn't full of leafs and other dirty stuf. Everything in the hotel was closed, internet, giftshop, and 2 of the 3 restaurants (of course the most expensive one was open, and didn't even had nice food)! Oke, than we wanted to book a tour into the khao yai park where we came for.... 2600 bath ex. the entrance fee of 400. So for 2 persons we had to pay 6000 bath! Crazy, as every tour to the park is the same. So we followed the lonely planet and called greenleaf guesthouse and ask them about the tour. It was the same as the one from juldis but for the price of 1300 bath per person inc the entrance fee! We did this tour and it was fantastic! Monkeys, pythons, wild elephants and the most enthousiastic guides they had! Khao yai is absolutely fantasic, but don't go to juldis and definetly book your tour at greenleaf guesthouse!

The Juldis resort seemed fine on the surface but had one or two flaws that eventually detracted from the experience.

Reception was OK and friendly but quite inefficient. We were on the second floor and there are no elevators, which wasn't a problem for us but would be a distinct problem for anyone with disabilities.

The rooms were fairly spacious with nice balconies and decent bathrooms. The door to the balcony didn't lock properly leaving some concerns about security. Overall the finish and fittings were quite tired but fine for our purposes, which were based upon ready access to the National Park.

The grounds are very pleasant and there appears to be a nice pool that we didn't use. There is a decent bar area, although we had to go to reception to ask for service. (Tip: buy your beer by the jug rather than by the glass, it works out about half the price.)

There is a steak restaurant which was really far too expensive. In addition there is a more traditional restaurant in which we ate twice. The first time the food was very good and the service very attentive if ponderous. The second time there were more guests, although it wasn't full, and our food took 30 minutes to arrive, which is scandalous by Thai standards. Once again it was of high quality but spoilt by the slow service.

Breakfast was OK but slow once more when the number of guests increased. The general impression was that the hotel was understaffed for the number of guests in occupation.

On our second night there were a couple of weekend conferences being hosted and the hotel became very noisy. The corridors are uncarpeted and outdoor, which meant that every pair of Thai stilletoes that passed by could be heard for miles. In addition the occupants of the room next to our talked noisily until 3.00 am and wouldn't quieten down even when asked. Given the fact that there are a number of other similar establishments close by this hotel will have to improve its performance to retain business.

Spent three days here last week, mainly due to interest in the National Park nearby. The hotel is some years old and looks it in parts! We stayed in a large bright room overlooking the gardens which was fine although it had a very strange french window from the bathroom onto the bedroom! Next time I would go for the balconied rooms which are smaller and overlook the pool. The cottages, some way from the hotel looked very gloomy. The service was laid back, even by Thai standards, charming staff but could do with some management prodding! There were no park brochures avaliable at the hotel and very little information, only a useless map in Thai! The gardens and grounds are beautiful, lots of trees and flowers and some fabulous views to the hills. The food in the Pub restaurant was good although the restaurant and breakfast not quite up to scratch. However the hotel is ideal for access to the Park and there are lots of interesting things to do and see there and also a fascinating bat cave about 30 minutesd from the hotel where you can watch a million bats leave at sunset for supper! The weather was bright and sunny during the day but definitely sweater time in the evnings which we found a pleasant change. Allow approxiamately two and a half hours drive from Bangkok. The hotel was virtually desrted during the week but I understand it's much busier at weekends.
