“Nice and spaceous rooms, very good food”
Reviewed 3 January 2014 via mobile

We spent our christmas holiday at this hotel with kids and friends and although the village had not enough snow, we enjoyed skiing on higher altitudes. The staff at the reception of the hotel was very helpfull, but it did not feel very polite and wellcoming when on christmas eve they had a small celebration with everything spoken in german and not a single english wish to their english speaking guests! An other thing annoying was that on christmas eve all lifts and ski lessons ended at 14.00 o clock, then dinner in the hotel started at 18.30 as also the staff had a long way to return home and celebrate christmas. I am sorry, i am christian as well but in ski resorts when the highest season is christmas and new years eve holiday, you expect everything to operate as usual! I am glad to have visited other austrian resorts where they follow the schedule. Well the food in the restaurant was very good, however the afternoon snack too poor (only one single dish)

We spent one night mid September at this very good hotel. Arrived too late to make full use of spa facilities but spent an enjoyable but all too brief a session in the saunas and indoor pool. I was disappointed that there wasn't a hot tub. Not sure what other reviewer meant by "the mandatory nudity could be handled better"; the sign was in English so I don't know how else it could be done (and yes, it is the norm, it is also the law in Austria as using saunas with clothing on is unhygienic, pointless and frankly daft. Britain really should get its act together and operate our spas properly) and the saunas, although labelled in German seemed to be fairly clear in what they were. Robes were supplied but no slippers which if you hadn't brought your own meant traipsing downstairs in bare or socked feet if you wish to change in your room. Minor point though. Dinner, included, was excellent with 5 good size courses including an excellent choice from a salad bar. We have no complaints at all about the restaurant food and service though providing a jug of water unprompted would be nice plus, depending on waiter, you need to insist on tap water. One waiter was reluctant and didn't deliver, the other was prompt in giving what we wanted. Breakfast was also excellent with eggs and ham cooked to order. However, from a vegetarian point of view there was, I believe, no segregation between utensils used for cooking/serving meat and non meat items. I may be mistaken on that point however.
Included in the hotel price were vouchers giving free return rides in the cable car to the top of the highest local mountain, over 2000 metres. This would cost €19 return each otherwise. A must do as views are outstanding.
The rooms were fine, spacious, a little dark but were in the section not yet modernised so they were not as bright and as modern as presumably the other rooms are. There were snacks in the room but fortunately they had a pricelist next to them which we saw first otherwise they would have been devoured. Prices for these were high. All in all a very comfortable hotel in which to stay with friendly staff and beautiful location but beware of extra charges.

Room Tip: Go for refurbished room if possible.

Surprised to read last review. Stayed in 121, uk feb half term. Cannot believe the complaint about breakfast. It was fantastic. Everything you could want, hot or cold. Staff happy to bring bottled tap water to table if requested, no charge. Dinners were high quality, five courses with choice of three mains. Salad buffet always available and plenty of it. Had a sleep 4 room, with kids on sofa bed, no issues. Room was clean. Location is ideal for ski and there is a quicker route to the town if you walk the path rather than the road. Bar prices reasonable and about half what you pay on the slopes in France. The ski hut is small but it's authentic and the free lunch is a nice touch for half board. Agree the nude sauna a bit odd for Brits but probably the norm in Austria. It also has an empty gym on 4th floor if you can face it after ski. Only thing to watch is some websites include free wifi in their price for the hotel which the reception staff may not realise. Check it when you arrive. Also they charge for snacks left in the room which we thought were free as there is no price list anywhere. Good resort for improving skiers lots of reds, limited black and one blue run about four long lifts away. Although you can get to st Oswald, it takes about 40 mins on the lifts. The staff were very friendly, as we're Austrians generally, as if they were happy to see Brits staying there. The French could learn a thing or two about hospitality here.

We were truly hoping for a relaxing vacation. The previous year at another hotel was paradise. The location of the hotel has it's ups and downs (literally) about a 20 min walk on a steep road to/from the center, but it is on a minor ski slope. Reception was professional and courteous, but as it was 1300, the room was missing robes and we needed to ask for them. The first impression of the room was good, but problems began to show. On the wall next to the bed there was a stain that was either chocolate or blood, then an empty condom wrapper was found on the floor. They keep the rooms uncomfortably warm, where at times you had to open a window.
The restaurant was slightly disappointing. Breakfast was rather generic with very little explanation of the foods and almost always in german. You were allowed only the house coffee, a cappucino was charged for, not what you would usually get at a 4 star. Bad Klein is known for it's water, but the wait staff insisted on bringing bottled water at 3.90 euro per liter. Dinners, again, offered nothing to remember. The food was typical, and had prepared sauces and gravies poured over them. Desserts were good enough to look forward to. Our waiter, Robert was very friendly and always tried to please. The ski hut that the hotel owns was a tired sagging cabin, with 4 tables and if filled, left no place to even stand.
The spa was maintained a little better. However the indoor pool was warmer than the whirlpool, the outdoor pool was much too chilly for a winter swim. The saunas (approx 5) were all labeled in german, so you never knew which was which, and the mandatory nudity could be better handled.
The childrens play room, has several videos games all coin operated at 1 euro each, expensive to keep a child entertained for a few hours.
Overall a well built hotel, but lacking in several areas: The most stand out was the owners' trying to make more money at every turn.

Thank you for your hotel, for its cosiness, comfort, friendliness, magnificent kitchen and the most beautiful a place where the hotel is located. It is possible to believe safely that the hotel corresponds to the name. We were at you for the first time and we think that is exact not the last time.

Best regards,
Tatiana, Denis Babushkin.

A fabulous hotel being one of the few hotels we return to each year and have recommended it to many friends, all of whom appear to have enjoyed their stay as much as we have. The Hinteregger family run their hotel well and each year make improvements to the hotel to keep the standards high. All staff are friendly and helpful with a good retention rate over the years. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. The breakfasts and evening meals are very tasty with something to suit all whether a child, hungry teenager or health concious adult. We have really enjoyed the skiing direct from the hotel door. The hotel is situated at the top of a nursery slope which is great if your children can mange the button lift but to get to the meeting point for lessons but can involve getting a minibus or car down the road or walking approx 10 minutes. The ski school is well run and friendly and ideal for young children learning to ski. The hotel provides a free simple lunch in their hut which helps keeps costs down.We have really enjoyed the swimming pool in the evenings and separate adult relaxation area for unwinding after skiing. BKK is a great family resort with safe, wide, uncrowded well and wellgroomed pistes but advanced skiers may find it limiting with few off piste areas and black runs. The local pools at St katherine and Romerbad are well worth a visit and eaqually of a high standard.

Room Tip: Its worth paying extra for a Kircheim or garnet room which are spacious and tastefully decorated

We (2 adults 2children) had 2 rooms ('garnet') with interleading doors. Both rooms were tastefully decorated, were big and had excellent bathrooms. The furnishings were of high quality. The rooms were a touch on the dark side (we were on the 1st floor) so I think if you are higher up that would be better. We had half-board with dinner being 4 course (at the breakfast the menu was on the table and you indicated what main course you wanted.). Food was of a high standard but not always 'superb'. Drinks prices as other reviewers commented were indeed on the high side. The children's buffet menu was mundane - I expected better from a 4 star hotel but having said that, it was also ok to order from the main menu as well. The wellness areas were super - especially the quiet areas where children were not allowed. The outside pool was very good as well. Golf ' driving range' was poor and not worthy of the hotel. Staff were all very good. The location of this hotel is excellent for mountain biking and hiking - rotes starting right outside the hotel. We had a superb stay and do recommend it - especially the wellness area.

Room Tip: suggest to take an upper floor (first floor south side was a bit dark)
