“Austrian Riviera- fit for families and royals alike”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Nearly a century ago, this is where the Duke of Windsor took his bride- it is suitably out of reach for rumours not to reach the paparazzi, but equally magnificent for one not to miss home. The Lake is the warmest in Austria and is indeed drinking quality! Bizarre enough to try, but you won't need to. The Beach Club is simply the best- clever planning and enormous, luxurious loungers allow for privacy, yet views of the astounding riviera. Service is rapid and freundlich all day- till 10 at night! Children adore the aluminium pool and drop into the Lake, when bored. A sufficient variety of boats are for hire, catering even for the most extravagant egos. Alternatively, take the ferry, which criss-crosses the lake all day. The slides in the Poertschach area are worth an excursion for the children. The rest of the hotel is simply as fabulous as one would like- don't be put off by the very odd design of the public areas. they are not made for dwelling.

Room Tip: Since the rooms have been upgraded towards the back of the hotel, you might not have a view of the l...

We concluded a VBT cycling trip in Velden and had several nights at this hotel courtesy of the tour planners. Could not believe when we walked into the room how luxurious it was...fluffy pillows and towels, a marvelous rain shower, and an equally marvelous big bathtub. The breakfast was superior to anything we had on the trip (and that's saying a lot, we, er, ate quite a lot on this trip), one simply could not try everything, but I would especially recommend the salmon and trout....and the fresh orange juice and sparkling wine. We had a lovely view of the lake from our room. I heard the spa was marvelous but didn't have a chance to try it myself. I would stay there again, most definitely.

Room Tip: We were in room 310 in the original building (not the newer section), which you actually get to from...

We spent a couple days biking in the area and stayed in this incredible hotel. The room was huge and very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was top notch (including my wife's favorite--salmon) and the spa is unlike anything we have seen. It is simply a real treat to stay at a hotel like this.

Spend two days biking around beautiful lake area. After biking second day went to spa and was totally blown away. Indoor and outdoor pools. Both heated. The outdoor one you can enter from indoors through a glass door that slides open. There are coed saunas at least three or four all different temperatures and steam room with very cool lite ceiling. Men's and women's locker rooms have hot tub and steam and sauna too. There are half a dozen relaxation rooms. One shows movies on the ceiling. And I could go on about the spa. The rooms are very modern and nicely appointed. We had a room in old castle section looking into nice grassy courtyard with a little view of Lake. Breakfast was outstanding buffet. This is one of the nicest places I have stayed and the nicest spa hands down.

We spent (too) short family vacations in the spacious suite in the castle – I prefer old buildings, than modern ones. They've got both and the new part is interestingly build in a U shape and covered with grass roof, so it is almost »invisible«. The big modern spa is also inside the new building.
Teenage daughter has got her own room in a gallery and said it was like in fairy tale. Lia , our border colie did not say anything . But was visibly impressed over the canine dessert . Yeah, in probably the best hotel at Wörthersee, they know how to take care for four-legged guests as well! We even got maps of walking trails , which are most suitable for walks with the dog .
Suite in an old castle part of the hotel has proven to be an excellent choice . The spacious living room was separated with glass doors from the living room. We had beautiful views from associated terrace to the most interesting part of the castle and courtyard marked with skillfully planting roses. The bathroom was equipped in style. I have been impressed by large hot tub embedded in a combination of black and white marble , and even more with a niche shower in which water flows from the ceiling and gives the impression of a pleasant warm rain downpour . The suite is also equipped technically flawless.
We all liked food in the restaurant Schlosstern - an excellent culinary offer was kind of combination of the Alpine- Adriatic cuisine. If weather permits , it is nice to have dinner on the balcony, which boasts beautiful views of the lake. Well daughter enjoyed more breakfast, as it was served quicker and she had option to take food (big choice) by herself. Well, dogs are not allowed to enter restaurants and Spa, but Lia liked the castle park and specially nearby fishing ponds. I hope, we'll come back one day...

Room Tip: suits at the top part of the old buildings are really special by shape and with a nice view...

Spending 3 or 4 days there is a real treat. Just about 2 hours by car from Venice, everything is a combination of style and luxury. Large rooms with nice comfort and technology, bath rooms easy to use and a very nice staff is always there to help you. The spa is unbelievable; I tried treatments, both pools, all saunas and was never disappointed. The main restaurant was also something to discover with great wines and rather reasonable prices for the quality. Last but not least, I tried a wonderful golf nearby and went around the lake with a nice e-bike provided by the hotel. Truly a memorable stay.

Room Tip: New rooms overlooking the garden

I was impressed from the minute I walked in. We found the hotel easily from Munich airport and it was a beautiful trip, the views were breath taking.

The staff on reception were efficient and professional and they wasted no time checking us in and showing us to our suite which was perfect. Rooms are spacey, comfortable with full amenities including beach bag, flip flops and beach towels.

The food was delicious and the dining room was fantastic. Breakfast was excellent served in big boardroom and terrace. Staff were very attentive, friendly and professional.

We did not have time to try out the amazing spa but we will next time we are there.

I simply cannot find any criticism about this hotel.

We only actually stayed for the weekend for our friends beautiful wedding but we will be booking for next year with the rest of our family.
