Rented a car to hit the salt mines, ice cave, waterfall and Hohenwerfen Castle. Not possible to do all in one day. Wished we would have skipped the Salt Mines and here is why. Very hokey commentary and not vey educational about the mining process and history. Slides were ok, but nothing special-come to St. Louis and visit the City Museum where slides are no joke! It just was pricey and we couldn't make the castle due to this stop. Would hit the Ice Cave first, then the castle and the waterfall was defiantly worth a visit and that took much longer than expected. It wasn't cold and had no wait since we got there right after it opened. The little boat ride across the cave is totally overrated in reviews.... Had very large groups that made it tough to hear at times due to kids talking.

We love this place. It exceed our expectation. Very educational and fun. Apart from the slides and train ride was a surprise. The boat ride in Hallstatt was the most beautiful boat ride we ever taken . The view is amazing. We were there in summer , the mine was not very cold

Place was quite interesting. Learnt quite a fair bit. The slide was fun. Temp is a bit cold but still doable with t shirt and shorts, especially since they going issue a top and pants. For those considering doing salt mine and Tobbogan ride, I'll strongly suggest doing Tobbogan/zeinkeinlift first as the walk frm salt mine to tobbogan is upslope. Will be easier if u started frm zeinkeinlift first

It was the biggest disappointment during our trip. Yes, we slid down to the mine. Yes, we had a boat and a train ride. However, the fun would be much bigger at any amusement park. We wanted to learn the history and the process, but this educational part was not addressed properly. The group was huge, with approximately 15 English-speaking people, 15 German-speaking and over 30 people speaking Mandarin. Our guide, with the help of translator, talked around 5-10 minutes to one part of the group. When he finished and started the long description in German, the mine was filled with the impossible noise due to laud chat of the first group. When he finally addressed the information in English, everyone was exhausted. We run from one to another, missing many of them on our way. I was able to see only captions of the first video and didn’t see even captions of the second one, due to the wall of the people in front of us. The mine is not in Hallein itself. In Hallein, you need to transfer to the bus to Bad Dürrnberg. We expected the memorable trip, but got a tourist trap instead. It was a real waste of time and money.
