My husband, daughter and two friends and I spent two wonderful nights here. Miss Margaret and her family were quite welcoming! Miss Margaret told us about the local sights and arranged a tour for us, with the tour company coming right to the door to pick us up. The dinner menu was extensive and everything we had was delicious. The breakfast buffet had a great variety of items and the coffee was excellent! The rooms were spacious and the beds were quite comfortable. There is a city bus stop right across the road and the bus system is easy to use.

We stayed here one night in order to visit the Christmas market in Salzburg. It was snowing so we couldn't really see the pitches, but the staff were really helpful and the hoo-up was easy to access.
The sanitary facilities are fantastic and there is FREE Wi-Fi across the site.
There is a bus stop immediately outside for the bus which takes you directly into the centre of Salzburg and we were alos able to pre-order bread rolls which were ready for us in the morning.
The hotel also has a lovely looking restaurant which we will try the next time we stay here :-)

We stayed one night at the hotel. We had a lovely room, the staff were very helpful. We borrowed free bikes from the hotel and had a nice ride along the river. The food was delicious and had good choices for breakfast. The bed was very comfortable, and it was very peaceful.

My two daughters, husband and I stayed here for two nights while visiting Salzburg and Berchtesgaden. The hotel is perfectly situated between the two cities. We booked a family room for four but Mrs. Reiter called and offered us two rooms for the same price. My daughters were thrilled to have their own room adjacent to ours. We were all pleased with the style and cleanliness. No, this is not a five star hotel chain. We did NOT want that. We wanted a small family run hotel with true Austrian charm. No, they do not have little bottles of shampoo and lotion. It didn't matter to us, we bring our own everywhere. The rooms have wonderful family photographs from decades ago and offered everything we needed. We enjoyed dinner and a wonderful breakfast selection in the restaurant. The kids loved the playground. Nearby is a brewery with a restaurant as well. We ate dinner there on the night the hotel's restaurant was closed. Everything was wonderful. Wifi was great too. We truly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it to families and others looking for cozy, charming and friendly places to lodge.

We stayed one night in this hotel, which we selected for its proximity to a nearby salt mine tour. The owners were friendly and helpful. The room was large and comfortable, and the bathroom was quite satisfactory. The hotel wifi was immediately accessible - no fussing as can sometimes be the case. The hotel's rural location and the time of year (early October) meant that the surroundings were quiet. There was ample, convenient parking. However, there is no lift in the main building, and rooms are upstairs, so don't overpack your suitcase!

The road signage going through Hallein was a bit confusing, but we were able to locate the hotel after only having to backtrack once.

The owners answered our emails promptly, and clearly strove to please their guests. We would be happy to stay here again.

The surrounding countryside is beautiful.

However, we cannot recommend the Hallein salt mine tour (even though the wooden slides were terrific fun). After taking the train into the mountainside, there was an extended walk - at least 2/3 of a kilometer - uphill through a barely-lit tunnel with uneven footing. There is more walking required at the end of the tour in order to return to the train. It would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues, or who is in below-average physical condition. This is not mentioned by the tour operator at any point in advance of being faced with the situation, and it should have been. Try another salt mine tour, or at least be prepared for the walking at Hallein.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2009

We spent 4 nights at this nice guesthouse on the outskirts of Salzburg and had a great stay. We booked one of the apartments as we were traveling as a family. The apartment was quiet, had a nice kitchen that was well stocked and offered ample space for an American family of four. We found the staff helpful and welcoming. We found the location ideal for exploring the area around Salzburg. The Salt mines are only 15 minutes drive in one direction and downtown Salzburg was 15 minutes the other (or take the available bus). It was a great spot for easily getting to the Mondsee, Berchtesgaden and the "eagle's nest" and a much better value than staying in a hotel in Salzburg.
