“Just about the perfect ski trip!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 January 2013

We stayed her for 7 nights in January and we really could not ask for more; what a lovely hotel.

Great food, great facilities, amazing service, a genuinely warm and friendly staff, all overseen by the fantastic attention to every detail by the family management - it was a real pleasure to stay here.

Access to the extensive Kitzski area is via the Flekambahn Gondola; only 1 stop away on the skibus which stops outside the hotel. The interconnectivity between resports and runs is terrific in this ski paradise.

It was great to feel part of the family when we stayed at the Adler and we can't wait to go back!

We stayed at the Adler for 8 nights over Christmas and everything was top notch. The hotel is family run and they personally go out of their way to ensure that guests are properly taken care of from the moment they arrive until check out. Natascha in particular was lovely and very welcoming. The location is perfect: very easy access to key lifts that are part of the Kitzbuhel Alps with the bus (free for skiiers) stopping literally in front of the hotel. As other reviews have indicated, the food is excellent. From a smallish hotel I wasn't expecting such a high quality of meals but we were pleasantly surprised each day. The room was spotless, more traditional than contemporary but very comfortable. We hope to return next year and now wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else in the Kitzbuhel area: highly recommended!

This family owned hotel near Kitzbuehl was our destination for the Christmas 2012. We booked the four day full board package and were very happy about it. Breakfast buffet alone would actually keep you going until dinner, but in addition there was an afternoon snack with soup, salads, etc., you could grab. Dinner on the arrival was an Austrian farmers' buffet, the rest of the evenings a four to six course menu was served at the table. Food was great and the chef was very kind and helpful with respect to special need of our daughter (gluten free diet) - we were extremely happy as she rarely gets to enjoy the same courses as the rest of us!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. There's a room for skis/snowboards you can store your equipment in and let the shoes dry over night. Location is very convenient - you can walk to Kirchberg and to nearest lifts. Bus takes you to the other lifts (for free if you get the ski pass) from the front of the hotel.

We had the wellness room with our own sauna, which we enjoyed to the fullest. Room was a little small for a family with two kids, but very clean and quiet. Beds were comfortable and the view from the windows spectacular.

Hotel features a spa, which we didn't get to try because of our own sauna. Kids went swimming in the pool almost every night and we also used the fitness room.

Room Tip: Wellness room with sauna.

Stayed 12 days in the family appartment which is on the top floor facing south with double length balcony as this has been converted from 2 rooms. Priced per room with only small extra cost for extra persons made it a good choice in the summer. The two bedrooms are joined by a corridor along the outside wall with windows and the shared bathroom is off that corridor so has no windows but frosted glass partition allows light from the balcony windows through whilst allowing privacy within the bathroom. Adjusting the shower head proved a bit tricky; it needs a new holder.
The children's room has an austrian twin that was positioned against a side wall during our stay which was no problem because we only had one person in the room. Would be fine also for 2 kids unless one was fussy about not having a side to get in at. Might be possible to position the bed centrally if you asked.
The main room had an extra wide austrian twin, great, the sofa provided nearly double bed width when folded down for the other child. We had some allergy free bedding provided on advance request.
No fridge in the room even though one item of furniture was designed for one to be placed within it. Would have liked to have kept some of our drinks cooler but you don't really need to provide your own snacks as the hotel's 3/4 pension is so generous.
Hotel allows you to make packed lunches during breakfast as a regular thing, they will provide aluminium wrapping foil if you ask.
The afternoon snacks (jause) varied enough although the formula was rather unchanging but all very tasty and plenty enough to treat this as your self service lunch with it starting at 12:30 assuming you are in the hotel.
Breakfast choice was very wide though as is normal only a small number of hot items. Dinner always had a meat, a fish and a vegetarian main course option and in the 12 days everything was well prepared, presented and served. Tyrolean menus mainly but more special and gastronomic style than the lunchtime choices you get in mountain inns and huts.
Pool area was a medium size (larger than photos made it seem). Access to pool was via the main reception so not entirely discrete but the staff and owners are very open and friendly people so it felt absolutely fine. To get to the sauna / wellness area it's back into the reception and down the stairs so you do need to use your dressing gowns (which are provided in the rooms but remember to bring your own flip-flops as hotel slippers were an extra charge) and the facilties were entirely up to standard. The woodwork in the sauna was simple finnish style rather than what some alpine hotels provide with lots of carved wood and better lighting. The 2 steam rooms were well designed and rest areas too.
So we were really happy with our choice. There was definitely no noise from the main state road a few hundred metres away and in cuttings and tunnels. The view on the garden side towards the mountains was beautiful and although the ground slopes up at the back it is quite gentle at first so the garden side is open to the light even at ground level.
Free adult size bikes available (not MTB's) were sturdy Kettler models and some others. We used the 3x8 gear versions which one could ride uphill quite well wherever there was asphalt on the road. They can also cope with gravel with reinforced tyres though you wouldn't want to use them at too great a height or gradient then - rent an MTB for that sort of work.
All drinks are chargeable but tap water is free and good and not any embarrasment asking whether at meal times or for bottle refills. Dinnertime child drinks only free up to 13 years but it did not say so anywhere and we were a bit taken aback and they know they should have stated the age somewhere, for us they eventually allowed it up to 16 years which we are very grateful for but you shouldn't expect it, we got it as a kind gesture after a few days and probably because we were staying quite a long time and we clearly weren't going to cheat on it.
Thanks to the owners and their parents (who ran it previously and were in charge for part of the stay) and all the staff were very kind and attentive.

Room Tip: Garden facing rooms face South and away from the road and the hotel layout is such that most rooms f...

Super stay at the Adler for our family ski trip. Our second visit to this hotel. Friendly welcome, excellent service, nothing too much trouble. Found all the staff spoke good English but also valued our attempts at German. We were made to feel individually welcome. Superb food, lots of choice and so much of it, with excellent free buffet lunch/tea even though officiallly half board. Good ski room( boots warm and dry on heated racks) and ski bus right outside for lifts in both directions, the easiest access we have found to the Kitbuhel alps and can also access Ski welt
Lovely Sauna, steam room etc. Liked the facts it was adults only, peaceful and relaxing.
Nice room with spacious bathroom. Hotel very clean the cleaners were constantly working hard to keep it so.
Try the Adler if you want a lovely friendly family run hotel with Superb food.

We stayed here in January 2012 over the Kitzbuhel Hahnenkaam race weekend. Having booked 10 months ago, the decent hotels in Kitzbuhel were all fully booked, so we opted to stay 5kms away in Kirchberg. Turned out to be a very good choice, excellent hotel. Run extremely well by a lovely family, and we genuinely don't have any complaints, or even minor suggestions for improvement. All the meals were absolutely fine, plenty of choice & good portions. We made extensive use of the bar, which has a friendly atmosphere, and is well stocked. The rooms are perfectly adequate, exactly what you would expect in an Austrian 4* hotel. The skibus stops right outside, runs regularly, and it is very easy to get to any of the access lifts. The service was excellent throughout. Natascha & Maria on reception are very helpful & were always happy to arrange taxis or meals out. They also got our lift passes in advance of the 1st morning's skiing, and we didn't pay for them until check-out. Jacob, Julia, Sheila & Claudio looked after us very well in the bar & restaurant. A great few days. One caveat for the race weekend : Getting to the Strief piste on race days wasn't easy due to some lifts being closed due to regular high winds. Having said that, we would recommend watching the races on foot from the bottom or near the bottom, rather than on skis. The atmosphere was incredible. We are looking forward to a return visit as soon as possible !
