We stayed in the annex 200 meters from the main hotel. The balcony gave us a lovely view over the lake. Our meals were in the main hotel where we also had the use of other facilities, bar, sauna, broadband etc. The room was a reasonable size and although some of the furniture was a bit care worn, everything worked and was spotlessly clean. The meals and service were excellent and all the staff very helpful.

Room Tip: Lake side gets the morning sun, mountain side the evening sun. It was very hot when we stayed in Sep...

Pertisau is a town that has developed the business of parting tourists from their money into an art form. In the town itself are a number of large, expensive hotels each trying to out do each other by expanding and adding expensive facilities, and in so doing have lost some of their original individual character and personal attention. But if you like large impersonal hotels then fine. The Hotel Bergland is not one of these! While it is quite big, it is still family run and still manages to make each guest feel they are known and welcome. It stands a little out of the town surrounded by meadows. This gives it clear uninterrupted views towards the Achensee in one direction and up towards the Karwendel mountains in the other. Whether by deliberate design or just pure good fortune I don't know, but it is situated so that it is one of the last buildings in Pertisau to keep the sun as it sets - most of the other hotels are in shade while the Bergland basks in the evening rays.

Inside it is spotless as you would expect in a hotel in the Tirol. The rooms are excellent with generous balconies to sit and enjoy the view (though equally you can lie in bed and enjoy the view!) While I was there the room staff serviced my room while I was down at breakfast - always a sign of a well-run hotel. The dining room has wonderful views across to the lake and the stuberl - the bar area - is large with lots of seating and a comfortable terrace area outside for when the weather is warm with a couple of trees conveniently situated to provide a lovely shaded area for when the sun is really hot. In the basement area there is a newly installed health suite with saunas, fitness room etc. The food is excellent. A typical buffet breakfast is offered with a wide choice. (Although a little un-Tirolian,they even have bacon and scrambled eggs which were excellent!) I had opted for half-board so each evening the meal is firstly a salad buffet, next a soup, then a main course and finally a dessert. There is a choice of four main courses each evening, at least one of which is vegetarian. The menu changes completely each day.

It is a two minute walk to the base station of the Karwendel cablecar up to the Zwolferkopf and a five minute walk into the town and the landing stage for the lake steamers. In common with other hotels in the area, all guests get an 'Achensee Guest Card' which entitles you to free travel on all the buses in the area which makes getting about very simple. Pertisau is the final destinatiion for buses going there. They run right past the hotel with a stop in one direction right outside (you have to walk a little for the other direction!) The buses actually do a loop ariound the village when they arrive from Maurach, the next town, and before they leave for Maurach which takes a little getting used to. (Don't confuse the Achensee Guest Card which you get free from your hotel with the Achesee Holiday Card which you have to buy - 57euro for 7 days - which gives you unlimited use of various cable cars, the lake steamers, the cog railway and various other tourist attractions. If you are going to make a lot of use of these things the Holiday Card will probably save you money but do your sums first!)

I have stayed in many hotels in the Tirol and the Bergland is now right up near the top with the best of them. Certainly now when I return to Pertisau it will be my first choice because of it's unique location and excellent facilities.

Room Tip: If you are a morning person, ask for a room on the lake side of the hotel, and you will be able to s...

We stayed at the hotel for a 7-day vacation in the Achensee region which is located in 900 m above see level and thus is a perfect choice for summer hot days. The hotel is situated in a quiet place on on the large meadow with excellent views of the lake. We booked a more affordable room (typ D) in an adjacent building which had been a former breakfast-pension. The room typ D had a simplier equipment but was very clean and with no disturbing noises so we could sleep with open door to the balkony. Breakfasts and dinners was very rich, and fullfilled all our dreams about Austrian cuisine, to which I was used to from my grandma. When I plan a next summer vacation in Tyrol, this hotel will be the number 1 choice.

Great accomodation ( but pay a little extra for a good size room), most helpful and friendly staff and quality food in a beautiful location with views of the lake in Pertisau.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the front with a lake view.

Stayed here for a week at the end of June 2009. The hotel wasn't right in the centre of Pertisau, but a very short walk from the boat dock and an even shorter walk to the gondola cable car lift. The staff at this hotel were very pleasant and in the main, spoke good english. Our bedroom was small, and had a balcony facing the gondola lift. The room was very clean as was the bathroom. The housekeeping lady didn't speak English, but was very friendly and speedy at servicing our room every day. The only drawback for me was the very hard mattresses and the threadbare towels in the bathroom.
The food here was good, breakfast consisted of the usual kaiser rolls, cold meats, cheese, cereal, coffee, juice and a cooked to order boiled egg.
The evening meal was also very good (4 courses), with a wide choice each evening including a vegetarian option.
On the whole I would say that this hotel is a good choice, convenient to both the boat dock and the gondola with excellent views across the lake and the mountains.
