“Good Hotel and Location.”
Reviewed 2 March 2014

Stayed here for two nights on business. Great location for getting around the local town and restaurants. Friendly staff both on reception and during breakfast. Clean modern rooms with good wifi access. Hotel is actually part of the train station platform, so looking out of my room window I could see the trains and commuters going by, not a problem with the curtains doing there thing. Plenty of free parking out front too, which is a bonus being in a town centre. Would stop here again for sure.

Stayed here for one night on a business trip. The hotel is right next to the railway station and bus station which is really convenient if you're arriving by train or bus. The train track runs down one side of the hotel, only a few metres outside the windows, but I wasn't really bothered by the noise when they started up in the morning. On the other side of the hotel is the main road and the bus station, so there was probably noise on that side too, but I didn't hear any complaints. The room was nice, big and clean, with wine and chocolates on arrival. Strangely though, there was no hand soap in the bathroom, which my colleagues tell me was the same in their rooms too. The most disappointing aspect of the hotel was the breakfast. There was a buffet, which looked like it had good choice, but when I arrived at 7:30 most of the platters were empty and were never replenished during my visit. The single member of staff tried her best to top things up, but most people had to just make do with the scraps that were left. All in all, it's a good hotel in a convenient location, but let down by the breakfast.

Room Tip: If you're bothered by noise, ask for a room on the road side rather than the train track side.

A very nice hotel, with friendly staff and a decent-sized room. Our room faced out toward town. Complimentary wine and chocolates awaited us when we entered the room--much appreciated. The hotel is centrally-located, and near all cafes, restaurants and pubs. Just an overnight stay for my husband and me, but we'd like to come back at another time and stay longer.

I stayed at BW Turnhout City for 2 nights for business purposes. The location is ideal being right next to the train station. I had a room facing the station and wasn't disturbed by trains passing. It was easy to walk into the town center, although most stores were closed by the time I got back to the hotel from work. The staff was super friendly and helpful. There was a mix-up with my reservation and the hotel accidentally cancelled it (and the hotel was sold out) but because I booked the room via AMEX Corporate Services, they were able to give me a handicap room. The only that that was different about the room was the bathroom itself being handicap accessible. There was no separation of the walk in shower (no shower curtains either) with the rest of the bathroom, so the entire bathroom would get wet whenever showering. The lighting in the bathroom was a bit dim, as was the rest of the room. I guess it kind of matched the weather that I had experienced while there (overcast and/or rainy). Overall, it was a nice stay! Oh, and I LOVED the free breakfast. The coffee was AMAZING too! I would stay here again for business purposes.

Room Tip: Room on 1st floor facing train station was quieter than I expected.

The hotel is right by the train station. Walk off the train to the hotel in under 2 minutes. This is good after a long journey, but not as enjoyable when the trains and buses start running. The hotel did invest in some sound proofing, so rail noise and bus noise are minimized if you are staying in a room facing the tracks (as I was). That being said, the hotel would benefit by adding some soundproofing to minimize door noise.

Check in was quick, front desk staff was friendly and informative. My stay was 4 nights. The room was on the small side, but was clean. The bathroom has obviously been recently refurbished. There is a "minibar" in the room (an unplugged fridge that I had to rig up on my own). The hotel supplies two cans of mineral water, 2 mini bottles of wine, chocolate, and cookies. A nice touch, it was all good quality stuff. WIFI was free, but kind of slow at times. Outlets in the room are limited, so you have to choose which item to use/charge at any one time.

Breakfast was plentiful, with a good selection. The food was always refilled and fresh. Kitchen staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel is near to town, and you can walk to the center in 10 or 15 minutes. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but there is one next door (not open on Mondays).

Based on the room and location, this would rate a 3, but the people and extra amenities really do add up. I call it a 4!

Room Tip: Get a room facing the road, not the tracks if you are not an early riser. And by early, I mean 4 am...

I stayed in May for 3 nights in the Best Western Turnhout and I was somehow shocked about the fact that this hotel is called 4*. The staff was very friendly but I was very disappointed by the tiny room which they call a hotel gym or the breakfast area which made me and others wait until 7:30 because one of the staff came late with fresh bread. The room was very poor and the minibar was empty and turned off. They dont ask you if you like to have a non smoker room, they just put you in there and tell you "sorry no other rooms available :( I would never go to this hotel again (not business nor pleasure).

Room Tip: I doubt they have a good room :(

Nice sized rooms with a big comfortable king size bed and clean bathroom also. The staff were helpful with questions and allowed us to keep our bikes locked in a property they owned accross the road. The air conditioning unit, sadly was very noisy, but we did have a sky light so we still kept relatively cool at night. If we was staying longer than a night we would of asked to have had this fixed. The breakfast was ok and what you come to expect in most european hotels.
