“Fabulous stay at Dolphins Hill”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2010

Mike & Penny are great hosts at their super Guest House, Dolphin's Hill at Brenton on Sea near Knysna. We had been recommended by friends and were not disappointed as Mike & Penny could not do enough to make our stay an unforgettable one.

The location is super, very peaceful with great ocean views from the swimming pool deck. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Mike's dinner is definitely not to be missed as he is a marvellous chef. The breakfasts are generous and the wine selection is excellent - just choose a bottle and write it on the tab.

Penny was very helpful with recommendations and restaurant bookings - the beach walk to Buffels Bay is memorable as were the 'Elephant Walks' in the Knysna Forest (...but no elephants!)

All in all a very relaxed, friendly place to stay - we will definitely be back.

We stayed here in MArch 2009. Mike and Penny are great hosts and cant' do enough for you. Its about a 20 minute (steep) walk down to the stunning beach and the area is very chilled out and safe (no secure parking or high gates around here - doors are left unlocked, cars left on the road etc.). Its about a 20 minute drive to Knysna itself which has a good choice of places to eat and drink as well as a range of shops and a nice waterfront area.

Mike apparently cooks amazing meals if you want to stay in during the evening (we didn't do so but the visitors book is testament to his cooking skills.

We stayed in the largets room (Beach room I think) which has a large bedroom, separate dressing room and bathroom. Large patio doors look out onto the pool area and to the sea beyond.

Great breakfast, comfortable bed (huge, firm and luxurious), great hosts and perfect location. Who could ask for more?

My husband and I and our 21 year old daughter stayed here last year and were made very welcome. The accommodation is lovely with lots of attractive art work done by our hostess. The view from the pool deck was magnificant. On our visit we did not actually meet the artist but her husband made us feel very comfortable, giving us advice on where to eat, and on our return a fire had been lit making the whole place feel very homely. The breakfast was perfect with plenty of choice. If we returned to South Africa we would definately return to Dolphins Hill, it was the best B&B we stayed in.
