Also Belgium is an extraordinary place for good cuisine!
High quality local cuisine, whether fish or meat, from appetizer to dessert nice taste with local product from the farm or from the close see. Lovely, quiet and romantic area.
For the third time, 3 generations enjoy their lunch, the atmosphere and the service quality. Absolutely friendly people, listen your wishes from our lips with fast execution. Nice but not pretentious. Fair price. Reservation needed is always well attended.
One of my preferred location in Europe

Don't expect a michelin star experience, with fine dining.
Do expect:
- very friendly staff
- excellent prepared honest food, for honest prices
- a fully booked restaurant. Make a reservation, or you won't get a table.

Unfortunately, they changed their openings hours, and are closed on weekends.
The coq au vin (chicken in red wine sause) is to die for (although my wife doesn't like it, I would gladly make an hour detour just for this. Bizarely enough not available during the wild season).

To avoid disappointment inform yourselves how it works. They do have a site on which you can see what it is about. One can make a reservation by phone and online. Yes they do work in shifts so we reserved for 8.30 PM to be at ease. The day before I received an e-mail to remind me my reservation and to ask me to respect reservation time.
Beautiful landscape on your way to the place. One can see immediately on arrival what to expect , classical setting , good smell and busy waiters . No stars nothing posh ....the real restaurant. We where shown to our place after a minute . Linen table cloth , linen napkin . Starters as well main choice between 15 + dishes. Famous for local food : shrimps , eel , game , lobster , steak , sole and ....
Fresh food , hot plates , hot food well served in classical style. It looks simple but it is real Belgian cuisine well served. Good service . Not expensive and one pays with folding money .

This was our second visit to Siphon. After going there on the night of our engagement we decided to take trip down memory lane and booked a table during our trip to the area. Siphon is very popular with the locals and they run two sittings, we were booked in to the later sitting. Initially the staff were relatively attentive in their slightly brusque manner. The food was fantastic, simple but beautifully cooked. After we finished our main course we were looking forward to ordering a pudding. Sadly, because of the 45 minutes taken to eventually clear our plates we decided it had got too late and we went home instead. The waiters walked past us many, many times but basically ignored us and the other couple we shared the table with. It seemed that evening that perhaps there were bigger fish to fry. We won't be going back again as feeling like second class citizens is not what we are looking for on a special night out. If you do venture here, be aware that they only take Maestro, not something we have on our GB debit cards anymore, so it is cash only.

Fresh fish from the sea, nice meat from the woodfire. Correct quality, nice interior, little old fashioned, small outdoor terrace.
