“Expensive for what it is”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

Stayed here recently on business.

Property seemed quite "tired" and in need of a refresh. Fixtures and fittings were generally not of a high quality; for example the ceramics in the bathrooms looked like seconds to me and had clearly visible flaws. Public areas in need of a refresh, repaint and recarpet. Rooms not well sound insulated; windows particularly did not offer good noise insulation, and given the town centre location this meant light sleepers may be troubled by noise

I paid €89 for one night, including breakfast. I felt like this was pretty expensive for the quality, and was not good value.

Positives:
Bed good quality
Free wifi
Decent breakfast

Negatives:
Noise, from inside and out
Poor quality fixtures and fittings
Common areas need repaint and recarpet
Expensive for quality

Thank you for your review. We hope we can make some improvements in the future with your remarks. We are renewing the windows to lower the noise. And we have already repainted the public areas. At some places we have renewed the carpet.
Kind regards.

Good location.
Walls in the rooms are very thin (plasterboard)and if you are a very light sleeper this is not the hotel for you. The doors open and close very loud which wakes you up every time someone comes in or goes out. If anyone is speaking the whole floor can hear. I suggest that management spend one night sleeping at the hotel and see what i mean.
Shower did not work, only the bath but the water was nice and hot.
TV remote was missing on arrival but when asked a remote was brought up in minutes.
Breakfast was ok.
I stayed one night and checked out but if you don't mind the noise and are not a light sleeper it would be ok for you.

Good location, rooms clean and comfortable. Corridors shabby but lovely breakfast room on rooftop. Friendly service. Rooms stiflingly hot and lots of noise from the street below. We stayed the night at the beginning of a cycling trip and one at the end, we didn't sleep well either night because of noise or heat. Management were very helpful and gave us a fan but there was only one. Not sure about value for money as we were on a pre-paid holiday.

Thank you for your review.
We are happy you enjoyed our services and rooms.
Although We are sorry about the noise and the heat in the rooms.
But it is also hard for us to lower the street noise because of the nearby bar, We sure will try to manage a solution for these problems.
We hope to see you again.

The hotel is very well located near the railway station and the center of the town. The staff was very friendly and proposed restaurant, shops and others on request. The room was renewed and very stylish (modern). Car park could be better....breakfast was extensive and well taken care off. Ideally for town visits or business trips.

Not worth the almost 100 euros per night and I don't know where they got their stars. Staff is courteous but un-enthusiastic and not what a weary traveler hopes for when checking in.Carpets need replacing, Tv is only tuned to 10 channels [out of 26], all Belgian..or Dutch...No CNN, BBC, or EURONEWS..No Bloomberg or MSNBC...No 24 hour news or weather channel in any language.
No tourist or info brochures in the room. Coffee maker with generic coffee pads in the room is about the only good point. I have slept in better beds, in cheaper hotels. This place is in drastic need of new, professional management with a vision to restoring what is otherwise a little gem of a location to it;s orignial ambition of being an overnighting" sensation.

Room Tip: if you really must stay here, see the room first, test the TV and hope for the best.

Thank you for your review,
We are sorry you disliked your stay with us.
in the meantime we already renewed the carpet of some floors, we are working on this.
The problem with the distribution network in belgium is that they threw of al these channels and so we can't receive these anymore. We are searching for a solution for this. The channels are also changed to the right numbers. And we also invested in new beds for a large number of rooms.
We are sure listening to your remarks and will try to improves us in the future.

very basic hotel with varying room quality, breakfast is buffet style and just ok, parking is a nightmare, if you arrive after 5pm then little chance to get parked so you have to park in the road - which is actually better than the car park! No restaurant for dinner.

Room Tip: third floor rooms are more upto date and seem cleaner

thank you for your review.
we are sorry about our carparkspace.
it is indeed a bit crowdy and hard to find a spot when we have a busy night. but as you mentioned there is plenty of space on the roads next to the hotel.
We don't have a restaurant in the hotel but there are a lot of restaurants in the neighbourhood of our hotel, you can always ask information at the desk.
we hope to see you again.

If you are on a short stay and looking for a central location, this hotel will do...just.
The welcome from the receptionist was very friendly, providing advice on where to eat. The room was a bit tired, but generally clean apart from some disconcerting hairs on the toilet cover and suspect stains on the white arm chairs. Coffee making facilities and an iron in the room were welcome. Free internet was available, the signal was weak making it painful to use. Outside noise was surprisingly audible..thankfully it was a quiet night, so managed a reasonable sleep.

Breakfast was buffet style and was fine apart from the Orange Juice, I suppose that at least it was orange in colour.

One night was enough for me.
