“Dream Vacation”
Reviewed 15 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

For our summer holidays this year we chose Vila Gric Trpanj, Croatia, based on the reviews from TripAdvisor.

Initially, we would have liked to return to Peljesac, where we had been in 2009, since it is considered one of the ripest area of Croatia. But now I don't think we could have made a better choice. Since we were two families spending the holidays together, we booked the entire first floor of Gric Vila for two weeks. From the first time we stepped into the garden, we were welcomed by a heavenly scene: orange trees, figs, kaki, palm trees and other Mediterranean plants very well grown and kept by owners. I don't think there are many properties of such range and charm on the Dalmatian Riviera. The owners, Tina and Drasko, are effortlessly enjoyable, warm and friendly, which shows class and good upbringing. The Vila has a vintage and charming appearance, while the architectural details, finishing, the mix of old and new, high ceilings, wood flooring, the fine interior fragrance contributed to our daily wellness. The rich breakfast, served in the garden under a Mediterranean tree (ficus, I think, but I'm not sure) helped us start every day at leisure. For dinner, the owners made some great recommendations, in Trpanj, as well as in the area. One day, Drasko took us to a wine tasting at a local producer, where we had the chance to compare wines from different years and we bought a few bottles of the famous wine produced in Peljesac.

The coastline is at 4 minutes from Vila Gric, in an enjoyable walk through a wood of cypress, pine and fig trees. Trpanj is on the Northern coast of Peljesac peninsula, which has an added advantage: on the beach you can find natural tree shade, so rare and enjoyable at the seaside, especially on very hot days. The sea water is very clean and the East-West currents keep it fresh and invigorating. One day we went to the beaches of Divna and Duba, where we found white rocks, turquoise water and a smooth sea bank, but our boys who want rocks and high cliffs for cliff-jumping have preferred the idyllic and uncrowded beaches of Trpanj.

We already feel nostalgic for this place and we wish to return...

“A magical place”
Reviewed 29 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We stayed here for four nights in Sept 2013. I was heavy hearted leaving Tina and Drasko. I loved every second that we stayed here and hope to return next year. This is a very special place. I heartily recommend it.

“Superb - AGAIN !!”

This was the second time that we have visited Trpanj and stayed at the excellent Gric B&B. Once again looked after impeccably by Tina and Drasko. They are always on hand to help and advise but are NEVER intrusive. Follow their recommendations on restaurants and you won't go wrong. We have for the last two years and never had a bad meal yet.

How delightful to have breakfast on their lovely shaded terrace. We had the same room as last year which is huge with antique furniture - spotlessly clean with a small Juliette balcony.

Trpanj is a lovely spot with the right number of bars and restaurants for us - if you want nightlife then look elsewhere. Lovely walk around the coast that takes you to a pleasant beach with a bar that even in the height of the season was not overcrowded at all.

Give it a go and you won't regret it.

“Fantastic Escape”
Reviewed 13 April 2013 for a stay in March 2013

We came to Gric B and B during "sleeping season" but that did not at all tarnish our experience. Drasko was the consumate host, telling us all about the village and introducing us to two exceptional restaurants. The room was great for a family. We had a mini-apartment with a double bed and two bunk beds in two separate rooms. It was warm despite the chilly weather. Breakfast was phenomenal. Thank you again for the fantastic experience!

“Beautiful, stylish and very friendly”

Me and my boyfriend stayed here in room s4 for a few nights on our way down to a wedding on the other side of the peninsula. We were incredibly happy with our stay, Drasko and Kristina were wonderful hosts, so friendly and helpful and calm, and such a gorgeous location and a gorgeous comfortable room.

The breakfast was very tasty and really good quality, and in such a pretty setting in the back garden next to the orchard and in the cool shade of the trees where we said good morning to the other guests (who were also very friendly). Our room was stylish with beautiful vintage furniture and it was also spacious. The bathroom was very clean (they have cleaners in every day), modern and a good size. We had a small problem with the shower, but Drasko fixed it immediately, waiting until we went out so he didn't impose and it was fixed when we came back. The view from our balcony was so gorgeous, very relaxing. The only downside to our room was that it was a little bit hot at night because there wasn't any airconditioning, though there was a strong fan which really helped, my boyfriend gets hot at night so he found it hard to sleep (bed was super comfy!). But we did go when it was a heatwave, even for Croatia, so I think normally its fine. I think there are other rooms in the building that were much cooler. You can hear the church ringing from the house, which was also a sweet addition to the stay.

The location is great, 10 mins from the ferryport, 5 mins walk to the swimming area, where you can sunbathe on the rocks and jump into deep sea water. 5 mins walk into town, where there is a lovely restaurant that Drasko booked for us - we had the local fish and sat outside, really lovely atmosphere. You can walk a bit further along the coast for about half an hour (really nice walk) and there is another beach that is pleasant, and from memory has a small cafe/bar type place. There is also an area on that walk where there is naturally occurring medicinal mud that you can go into but we didn't try it.

On one of the nights Drasko drove us (and then picked us up) to the most stunning restaurant ever, where they served traditional croatian food. It was high up on the hill near to Korcula and the sunset view matched the food - absolutely stunning! It was so incredible. We dined with another couple and their baby who had come in the car with us and it was such a nice experience. At the end of our stay, Drasko also offered to drive us on to our next destination with a small charge to cover petrol, he really was so accommodating.

I highly recommend staying here, I would definitely stay again if I came to that part of Croatia again.

Don't bother staying in Ploce though, its pretty grim...!
