“Perfect location for good food and of course wine!”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

I would completely agree with all the recent reviews in terms of location, comfort and the free wine tasting. We really enjoyed our stay here and although one of the two restaurants in the village was closed, staff recommended 2 other restaurants within walking distance which were really good. There are also free bikes provided which is a great way to see some of the other villages and towns in the area. My only reservation is in relation to the arrangements for breakfast. If you can't sit outside, everyone has to sit around one big table inside which can be a bit cramped and an odd experience if the hotel is full and all want to eat at the same time! Would definitely recommend the hotel overall though.

Wonderful hotel in a wonderful location and with extremely nice, helping and discrete staff. Family friendly: We stayed there as a couple with our three children (10, 8, 8). No fuss. Hotel recommended family friendly restaurant in Vosne-Romanee that turned into a big success, both in terms of food quality and ability to cater for a family with kids.

Room Tip: Get a room with direct access to the garden/court yard if traveling with children. This worked reall...

Rooms were spectacular, large well furnished and very comfortable. Wine tasting was included in the price we paid for the rooms. The garden is absolutely fantastic. We were of the impression that there was a restaurant at the chateau when making the reservation. This was apparently a misunderstanding, but the staff helped us with reservations at two restaurants within walking distance.

The Chateau was a nice surprise. I did not find too many options in the area other than staying in some of the larger towns. I wanted more of a village experience and that's exactly what we got. We loved the Ziltener.
Our room was huge and beautiful. I felt like I was living with royalty. The bathroom was big and bright with two sinks and a separate toilet area.
The Hotel is a great spot to stay and enjoy the many little villages nearby. The area is well known for it's wines and you will not be disappointed. Best to set up a tour as some of the wineries are not open without appointments. Don't forget to taste the Ziltener wines. They are well known in the area as well and as a guest it's free.
Breakfast is available. You can sit in the big dining room or the outdoor terrace area. It was basic but since there aren't many choices for this particular meal it sufficed.
Staff was great. Always there to lend a hand or give some advice on where to eat.
Definitely would go back.

The very positive comments from many other TripAdvisor users created a level of expectaion that was, in our opinon, not comprehensible. Although the team at the hotel was very friendly and helpful, we are sorry to say that we did not really feel comfortable.
The house itself has a somewhat gloomy atmosphere. Maybe it is the dark wooden interior in the reception area and the wine-bar and possibly the lack of natural light in the breakfast-/dining room or there is simply no atmosphere?

Our Juniour Suite was of generous size, light (dorma-windows) and was decorated in a classical style. Unfortunately the available space was not used to provide adequate wardrobe and storage facilities. The sofa was not positioned to allow comfortable TV viewing. The furnishings left an impression of not being quite finished and a little sparse. The matress was, for our personal taste, too hard. The bathroom was spacious, very well appointed, clean (as was the room) and had a seperate WC.

Good value is subjective but the price is, for a B&B experience, very high. The breakfast concept has been commented by many and could possibly be a nice idea in a less formal atmosphere but did not work in this hotel. The large common dining table quickly looks like a battle field if you arrive a little later and it s not cleared away or replenished. The fact that most of the guests were more focused on their iPads tends to distroy the last chance of such a communicative concept actually working. This can only be topped by the fact that a couple of eggs will cost a further € 6 and a bottle of water € 9!

Overall, the Hotel did not meet our expectations.

Enormous hotel and enormous experience. The estate is located mid between Dijon and Beaune. So you cant find the better location if you want to explore Cote de Nuite region. The road of great wines passes through the small town of Shambolle-Musigny. One who loves morning runs can get to Romani Conti location on his/her feet ;-) The reception is very warm, concierge function works perfectly (though some appointments should be made well in prior), the buffet is very family style (everything is served at the large table in a central room warmed with a fireplace!). The church's bells is the perfect alarm (it starts at 7 am), the town church is some 200 meters from the estate. You will love this place.

We spent 5 nights here in the Echezeaux room!! Loved every day here! Doris, Olivier, and Jessica are awesome! They will do everything possible to ensure you have a wonderful experience! Helped us with reservations at restaurants nearby!! And getting into some smaller vineyards for tastings! We plan on coming back!! If you have trouble walking up stairs you will need to get one of the main floor rooms as there is not an elevator.
