Liked best: Peaceful and convenient location with a fantastic kitchen and a washing machne. All we needed.
Liked least: Bedroom on top floor had steps right at the end of the bed that are between bed and bathroom. We did not use this room but it it would be easy to fall if you got up in middle of the night. I would not wanted to stay in this bedroom.

“Bijou, well equipped, beautifully styled and maintained - perfect Meursault holiday”

My husband and I have just come back from a fantastic week in this lovely little cottage nestled down a quiet road about 10 minutes walk from the centre of the village. We stayed with our friends, another couple, and found the property gave us everything we were looking to act as a base for exploring the Burgundy countryside and of course it's wines and food! The bedrooms are beautifully styled and comfortable with ensuite facilities for each double room. The kitchen leads out to the small courtyard garden and is equipped with everything you could possibly want. We had lovely weather and spent most of our time in the courtyard rather than in the sitting room but it was perfect that it came with UK television so we could catch Andy Murray's matches! The property's only downside is a lack of view, front or back, as the courtyard is surrounded by high walls and the front of the house is directly onto the little lane. This makes the rear area a suntrap and incredibly private however so even that is not a problem in the scheme of things. David & Sarah the owners had thought of everything and were incredibly helpful in both the booking process and providing information about things like wine tours and so on (also there is a wealth of information in the property itself). Now if only I hadn't put on about three stone over the holiday and my veins weren't pretty much 100% made up of gorgeous white burgundy from Puligny Montrachet and Epoisses cheese, then it would have been a perfect holiday!!!

“Cozy and well equiped”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2012 for a stay in November 2012

We spent a week in late October with another couple. There is plenty of room and privacy for two couples in this well equiped cottage. Do read the house instructions carefully as the locking procedure for the door is a little tricky. The welcome bottle of wine from a local vintner was a treat, particularly as we arrived in the dark and rain after getting lost in Beaune on our way in. Beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well equiped for the minimal cooking we did. There is a small refrigerator in the kitchen and a larger one in the garage. The plastic shelf for the interior refrigerator door was broken on one side and in order to store anything tall, you had to be really careful of it.

There are lots of maps, books, and tourist pamphlets available in the apartment and it pays to spend some time looking at these and also at the guest book when planning your excursions into the area.

There are a few things to be aware of in renting this property - as someone else noted, you will need to bring your own soap and toiletries. There is liquid soap at the bathroom sink but no bar soap or shampoo. Cleaning supplies are provided, though, so no need to bring laundry or dish soaps. There is a combination washer and dryer and also a 'clothes horse' drying rack. The drying rack only will open partially - one side is damaged. The dryer tends to either take a long time or to get very very hot, and the directions for use are not all that clear, although there is a small print English version as well as a French version - the labels on the machine are in French. There is a 'cool down' function that seems to be the key to getting clothes reasonably dry - to be honest, we never did really get this down very well. The pots and pans have detachable handles - this is in the house instructions, but if you haven't read them, the mechanism isn't all that self-evident, and the pots and pans are stored separately from the handle(s). The coffee pot is a French press - if you haven't used one before, you might want to study up on how they work, and also be prepared to use a lot of coffee in order to get a strong enough cup if you like strong coffee. Took me a while to get the right proportions and steeping times. There are a lot of stairs in this apartment. It is on four levels - you enter from the garage, up four or five steps to the kitchen, then a full flight of stairs (with no hand rail) to the living area - one bedroom is on this level - and then another full flight to the second bedroom, which is, itself, on two levels - the bed is on a sort of platform, with a stepdown to the seating area and ensuite bath. The bath on the living room floor is a bit odd as it is in three sections - -the toilet enclosure is separate and access is from the living room. Right inside the bedroom door is the sink (pull out mirror to the side, which my husband found awkward for shaving) and the shower enclosure is on the other side of the bed. There are towel warmers which are great, particularly as the towels are very thick and would otherwise be difficult to dry. We also used the towel warmers to complete the drying of some of our clothes. Heat is steam radiators and worked well - they are both thermostatic and individually controlled.

All in all, while there are some eccenticities, this is a great apartment in a good location, in walking distance to the town, which is very charming. We found three excellent restaurants in town, as well as two good bakeries, a butcher/deli, and a small grocery. There are two large 'caves' for wine tasting as well as a couple of co-op tasting rooms in the village and a vintner down the block (we never got around to calling him) who opens by appointment. The apartment is in the edge of the vineyards and in better weather, there would be great walking or biking in the area. There are wonderful little villages and wineries all around and we spent a day each on the major 'wine tours' in the tourist books. All I could have wished for was better weather!

“Perfect house in great village”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 September 2012 for a stay in September 2012

This was the perfect house in the perfect village. We were 2 couples and the equally excellent bedrooms and baths gave us lots of privacy. Charming and comfortable, beautifully restored, the house exceeded our expectations. Loved having a drink in the courtyard at the end of the day. Easy walk into town to shop, tour, have dinner. Great visit to Chateau Mersault for tour and tasting; staff welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. Took a great walk to Puligny Montrachet through the vineyards and were so lucky to see the harvest beginning. Owners have a very informative binder with local information. Did not make it to their favorite restaurant, but had a very good dinner at Le Bouchon. House is in a perfect location to tour nearby towns and villages. 5-10 minute drive into beautiful Beaune.

“felt like home!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We spent 4 perfect days in the apartment and it felt like home. The house is lovingly renovated and stylishly furnished, kitchen equipment meet modern standards and the garden is very cosy. The only "challenge" were the stairs (3 floors and the basement) when travelling with a small kid, our 1 year old daughter kept climbing the stairs up and down and had to be watched closely all the time. :) Driving to the carage with a large car was a bit difficult, but the carage was a real blessing: there was a heavy storm one night and it rained egg sized hailstones that would have damaged the car if left outside!

Meursault is a nice little town with a few restaurants, bakery, a small supermarket and lots of wine houses. Restaurants are open only at lunchtime and at dinnertime and in the meanwhile the city is very quiet, nothing to do except wine tasting. But Beaune is a short drive away and is a nice city for shopping etc.

“Marvelous in Meursault!”

We booked this as our first overseas Internet booking and we were absolutely delighted with the home and it's amenities. We would return in a minute!
Loved the location for touring Beune and Dijon and surrounding wine areas. Caves Dommard north of Beune had the best wines en vrac and beautiful painted bottles that you could have filled and personalized.
Very relaxing!
