“Nice way to pass a couple of hours”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

We visited here whilst in the area and was pleasantly surprised. We didn't go into the chateau itself but the gardens and stables were lovely. It is undergoing some work, much needed but well worth a visit.

“I'm glad I don't have the upkeep”
Reviewed 2 November 2013

This delightful Chateau in Vernon is charming and has undergone various transformations over the years. Still a private residence but listed under the heritage and upkeep made possible by the state, this is a nice example of how the wealthy used to live, from kings, dukes and barons. Occupied by the Germans during WW2 as a radio station for the submarine fleet, some things still bear the scars of that era. The gardens surrounding the chateau are pleasant enough as are the furnishings which is a mix of Napoleonic and pre revolutionary times. Well worth a visit.

“a work in progress”
Reviewed 28 September 2013

lovely to see this old belle getting some much needed attention and preservation. There is not too much to see but the price is reasonable and the staff is pleasant.

“Charming chateau...”
Reviewed 11 September 2013

We visited with a guide as part of our river cruise on the Seine, so did not use the on-site guide. The chateau us beautiful with an interesting history and still owner-occupied, situated overlooking the town of Vernon, with a gorgeous courtyard with a lovely fountain that was adapted to bathe the horses (check out all the old carriages and the stables). The carved wood panels in the music room were really impressive. The rest of the chateau is fairly standard, but this is worth a visit if you're in the area. There were no crowds, just a handful of others outside of our group.

“Amazing guided visit”
Reviewed 27 August 2013 via mobile

We had an unpleasant experience during our guided visit in versailles, therefore, we were even more amazed by our increadible tour in tbis chateau. The guide was a lady who loved history and she showed every piece of Bizy. She was increadibily patient in replying our kids questions and our family left the beautiful place very happy!
