Being an avid Trip Advisor reader, we were a little sceptical about booking here as there weren't many reviews. But we needn't have worried - the place is a hidden gem! It's set in a tiny hamlet with just a few houses in the heart of the beautiful Schwarzwald, so you really feel like you're getting away from it all. We visited in January and the snowy scenes were picture-perfect.
The Gasthof is run by a very welcoming family who did their absolute best to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We ate at the restaurant downstairs and the food was fabulous - local dishes cooked to perfection. The friendly chef came out to visit each table in person and make sure that everyone was enjoying their food (although he wasn’t intrusive). The breakfast buffet was also tasty and plentiful – typical cheeses, meats and bread with eggs, cereals, fruit and kuchen.
The rooms are very cosy, well-appointed and modern whilst retaining elements of Schwarzwald charm. I loved seeing the beautifully coloured wild birds in the tree outside the window (jays and a nuthatch).
Thank you for a wonderful stay, we'll be back soon.
