My family (4 adults & 3 children) stayed at this hotel for 14 days in the Kaiser Suite. From arrival to departure the experience was superb.
Most of the travelling party live in Dubai and have experienced the super luxurious end of the 5*+ hotel scale, Sporthotel Wilder Kaiser does not claim to be competing with these sorts of hotels and met our expectations of a European 4* Sporthotel perfectly.
After having driven 1,450 kilometres from the UK to this hotel for our annual ski trip the warm greeting upon arrival was extremely welcome. The rest of my family were guided to the suite whilst I was walked back to my vehicle and directed to the suite's private parking space.
We stayed on a half board basis. The selection and quality of food at breakfast was good and our 3 (all under 5 years old) children loved to sample the wide variety of food and drinks on offer before we headed to the ski slopes each day.
The dinner comprised of a varied salad bar, soup, main course and dessert. We all really enjoyed the variety of food on offer and all tastes were catered for by the hotel offering a choice of 3 different main courses every night on the half board plan. I enjoy sampling different drinks and the waiting staff were helpful in suggesting from the variety of beers and other options on offer.
It was our eldest daughters birthday during our stay. The hotel decorated both the breakfast and dinner tables and made a huge cake for her. This was a really nice touch.
The wifi at the hotel is a paid for service. Wifi access for the entire duration of your stay (regardless or length) is €5 (cheaper wifi options are also on offer). I did not mind paying this until I realised that the wifi signal did not extend to our suite, nor to relaxation areas such as the swimming pool. I would suggest removing any charges for the wifi until it is demonstrated that coverage extends across the entire property.
The swimming pool was a very good size, with multiple locations where massage bubble jets could be activated. An excellent feature at the swimming pool was the jet trainer. At the push of a button high speed jets start up in one area of the pool so that you can swim against the current it creates for good exercise.
We found it useful that there was a small supermarket across the road from the hotel.
The hotel also had a selection of toys, games, dolls, teddy bears etc that the children had free access to, this was a lovely touch.
We used the hotel as a base to ski in the Austrian ski resort of SkiWelt. It only took about a 25 minute drive each day which we all found acceptable. The German ski slope 'Hocheck' lies directly behind the hotel in Oberaudorf but this would not keep keen skiers entertained for 2 weeks. Hocheck did however have an excellent toboggan run (rodel bahn), this was 3km long and we all loved many runs down this track.
Overall we found Sporthotel Wilder Kaiser to be excellent. The management and staff were friendly, and being a family run hotel it did feel as if we were being welcomed into their home. We would definitely stay there again.
Thank you to the Astl family and their team, from the UK and Dubai based Lewis family.
