“Good location but too smokey”
Reviewed 23 August 2014 via mobile

This hotel was in a good location between the main part of town and the train station. I had a single room that was very quiet, especially given the odd double door arrangement. Wifi was not free which is odd in Austria and annoying, but such is life. The breakfast was ok but nothing special and the downstairs floor smells like an ashtray. If you stay in your room , it is fine.

This hotel is located a short walk from the Rosenheim train station. There are shops and cafes all around. The hotel has several good things going for it. The hotel is well located, the rooms are very clean and tidy and the rooms have double entrance doors so that you dont hear noise from the hall. This is especially important because the hallway floors creak. The hotel has an old charm to it and I found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

When I was leaving the hotel, I could see into several of the rooms that were being cleaned and therefore had their doors open. Each room was furnished differently. My room lacked a desk, table, or any solid surface on which to work or put your bag. There was a glass topped table that I could use as a desk, but no desk chair. However, other rooms did have desks. So, if you need a desk for your laptop, for example, it is best to ask for one when you book. If you are planning on plugging in a laptop and a phone, I should also mention that there were only two electric outlets in my room which would have been a problem if I wanted to plug in multiple devices.

If you stay on a weekend, be aware that there is a cafe nearby that plays pounding music until around midnight. During the summer when you want to keep a window open due to the heat, all you hear is the thud of the music and the sound of people on the street below. The street noise goes all night. I was awoken at 4:30 AM by women singing on their way home from the bar and several other times during the night when cars stopped out front with their radios booming. I would recommend asking for a room that doesnt face the street if you stay during a weekend as they may be quieter although maybe wont have as nice a view.

There is a bar downstairs behind reception that is smoke filled in the evenings. There is a glass door to stop the smoke from rising up to the room levels, but this is not always closed.

The internet is 3 Euro per day per device. If you want to use a phone and a computer, that will be 6 Euro. There are repeaters on every floor, but none of my devices would connect to them. This is not the fault of the hotel, but something to be aware of if you plan to use internet in your room. You may have problems connecting. I could only access the internet if I stood in or near the lobby as it seems my devices would only connect to the primary router.

Breakfast comprised of cereals, bread, a selections of meats, cheeses and spreads. The selection wasnt huge but it was satisfactory.

Overall, a good choice if you want access to the train station, clean rooms and to be in the middle of things. However, be certain to ask for a quieter room on the weekends and be sure to ask for a room with a desk or a table if you want them.

Room Tip: Street facing rooms are loud on weekends during the summer when you have the windows open. Ask for...

I stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights in May/June and found the general atmosphere to be positive and helpful. The lady on the reception (the owner's daughter) was extremely welcoming and the room was very clean, as was the rest of the hotel itself. I find it hard to understand why people bemoan the lack of English of the staff when they themselves are in a different country and appear to have made no effort to attempt to speak any of the language - if you try to speak the language with the staff, they are more than happy to help you even if they don't understand fully what you are trying to say. I would recommend this hotel and be more than happy to stay there again, but in my experience it books up quite fast - which can only be a good sign! The only thing I was disappointed by was the fact the lift still said that the hotel has a restaurant, however this has unfortunately been closed for some years now and I only found this out by asking at the reception desk.
