A very large family owned castle turned hotel, with a dramatic history.
Unfortunately the hotel needs substantial investment in facilities, staff training and quality before warranting a top class classification.
Our room was in a building separate to the main castle (converted stables?), with a fair walk to the restaurant - luckily the weather was good.. The bathroom was pretty minimal and as examples there was no soap and it was only grudgingly supplied as a "favour". (A touch of East German surliness?). The towels were small, "thin" and were not changed in the evening.
The restaurant was only just acceptable.
Internet was free but only connectable in the main lobby.
The hotel is well located in the charming village of Luebennau in the Spreewald, but promotes itself as fine location for weddings and local shows - always, in my view, a sign that it is not a great hotel as such. On the other hand that may not be the owners primary objective.
There is nothing that some well managed investment could not sort out but until then do not expect a first class stay.More
