Saw this place online and was very intrigued to stay there for 2 nights despite the fact that none of our German friends seem to have heard of this place. Emailed the place directly for the rates and decided to spurge on a tower room. We were given a room right at the top and despite it being such an old castle, we were pleasantly surprised when we entered our room. The room was very modern and it had state of the art technology! Room was spacious and bathroom (with a view) was big. There was a huge 4-poster bed and there was even a surprise (which I will not spoil the fun) when we got into bed.

Breakfast and Dinner was spent in the main dinner room from a good menu and the food was excellent! As this is a family owned place, not surprising, the husband was the chef while the wife was the one who helped to take the orders and check us in. They don't speak much english, but there are others around who made our stay extremely lovely and memorable.

In terms of activities, there isn't very much on the weekday except to have a stroll in the Tierpark ( a 5 minutes stroll downhill), which also has a small zoo (excellent for children). I believe there are plays and more activities in the weekend.

Overall, we had a lovely stay and would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a place to relax. Be warned, there is no television or wifi in the room. But the sunset view from the room is so breath-taking that one could just sit and look out with a nice glass of wine. Also, there are no lifts, so travel light if you intend to stay at the top floor.

Room Tip: The tower room might cost more. But it's worth it and more private.

I almost didn't book this hotel because I wasn't interested in booking the more expensive tower rooms and the "standard" rooms had gotten some poor reviews. I took a chance and booked 2 standard rooms for my family and they were way above expectations. Everything was clean and it had more outlets than many of the modern hotels. The "old" furniture that other some reviewers had mentioned was hand carved and very impressive. Someone else had mentioned plastic furniture - and there were plastic chairs on the balcony but what do you expect outside? The balcony was awesome - an incredible view and extremely peaceful. The restaurant was incredible and the service there was the best we got in Germany. We ate dinner and breakfast and both were good. If you're looking for an American style hotel, this is not it. If you're looking for a wonderful, unique experience, I highly recommend it. Also, take the time to go to the adjoining zoological gardens. The animals are kept in big, natural enclosures and you can interact with many of them. It too was much better than expected.

Room Tip: Several reviewers mentioned that you should do the tower rooms - but the standard rooms we stayed in...

We never visit Germany without a trip to Sababurg! We stayed there in both 2012 and 2014, and both experiences were a delight. The food and service is 5 star and the accommodations are delightful! The jacuzzi tub outshines any resort hotel, and the views are beyond compare. The village of Hofgeismar is just 15 minutes away and offers any convenience you might need, including great restaurants and desserts. Step back in time to a fairytale adventure. We hope to return!

My girlfriend and I just stayed one night at this castle, AMAZING. What to expect: amazing location, outdoor hiking, rolling countryside and phenominal food! Staff is very helpful and our tower room was just what the doctor ordered for our first castle hotel experience. Small, intimate and not too crowded, just the way we like it. Do not pay too much attendtion to negative reviews, thinking some folks go in with false expectation. Small/quaint and ability to experience a 14th century castle without feeling overwealmed.

Efter having stayed in other castle hotels in Germany, it is easy to conclude that this stands out from the rest - and not in a good way.
it has the story... And that is it. The renovation is cheap and without charm. The food is - at best - average (I.e. The breakfast is a joke). The service is not at "hotel level" and the whole setup seems to be oriented at day-tourists looking to buy an ice cream rather than guests spending the night. With that in mind the prices (compared to I.e. Schloss Wernburg with its 2star Michelin) is completely out of proportions.

This hotel is an absolute must if you're travelling the fairytale road. Great rooms, friendly and attentive service, magical atmosphere, great surroundings, fantastic restaurant and good value. A romantic place to enjoy as a couple, but equally OK to visit as a family.

This place(Sleeping Beauty Castle) is remarkable. Yes there is no internet, but you should be spending time with the people you came with.. The Tiergarten and the forest being close by, great for walking.. The near by town Warburg beautiful. Also close to Trendleburg Castle.. The staff was amazing. They all spoke good English. The food was out of this world. Breakfast fruits, meats, and eggs... we ate dinner there, so amazing. It was well worth the money.. We will be visiting again.

Room Tip: We stayed in the one of towers. Not sure about any other rooms. Our room was very romantic and qui...
