I recently stayed one night on my way north. This is a family-run hotel, and the service was very friendly. The "public" areas are old and very charming. The rooms are nice and clean, but slightly sixties style. The breakfast-buffet was very good. All in all a good value.

Lovely hotel with easy access and plenty of parking outside. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and I got a very much needed good night's sleep after a very long drive. However, if you intend to sleep in, which I didn't, it may be worth noting that the hotel is located right next to a church with a great big bell in the clocktower which I think starts ringing at 6am (or it could have been 7am, not sure)
The only thing is that the amenities could do with an update, there was no TV channel in English and the TV was old and very very small, however that didn't matter of course since I couldn't understand the programmes anyway :)

I stayed two nights here with a friend while doing the southern loop of the 100 Castles Route. We had left things rather late and this was one of the only hotels with free rooms. It proved a perfectly satisfactory choice. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful, the room clean and serviceable. Breakfast was very good, with lots of choice (fruit, cheese and cooked meats, croissants, dairy products, even a decent choice of teas)., It was helpful to be able to leave our bikes in a lock-up garage.
The restaurant seems to have a good reputation with locals but we were never back early enough to eat in it. And, as this is very much a family business, the reception closes at about 22:00, so if you're planning to get back late and don't want to roust the owner out of bed, hang on to your key.
