“It was a bit of a blur!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

I would like to write an intelligent review covering the delights of Lippstadt but I was attending an army reunion for soldiers who used to be based in Lippstadt, so it's really a tale of alcohol and tall tales ....... but I digress.

The Lippischer Hof is a pleasant hotel with decent sized, comfortable rooms. The staff should be commended for their helpfulness and professional attitude, I stay at Best Westerns often and all the staff here were very good.

The hotel is virtually in the middle of town so travelling anywhere of interest (and dining out) is not an issue.

The hotel does have an underground car park which costs €7/night. This is pretty reasonable as there is no on-street parking but if you don't want to pay for parking there is an Aldi car park about 200m down the road which you could get away with a parking in.

Breakfast is excellent, with a wide choice of continental breakfast goodies and they'll also make up Japanese style noodles!

Not sure if the Wi-Fi has been sorted recently as I had no issues with it. No need to enter usernames or passwords however you did need to reconnect each time you came back to the hotel (if you had gone out of range).

A good hotel for a short visit and I will probably book again for next year's reuion!

This hotel would be great if you're there just for a short quick stay. Was there for business and stayed for a couple of nights. The room was really small but cosy. Bathroom was small as well but sufficient just for one person. Amenities were not provided but fortunately I brought my own as I didn't know what to expect as it was my first time staying there.

Clean towels and safe are provided for. Many channels on TV if you're feeling bored. Internet was fairly good and I could do my work in the evenings.

The temperature of the water however wasn't consistent and I had to suddenly repel from the shower water whenever the water suddenly turned cold and wait until the water the warmed up again to continue my shower. This was a bit annoying for I couldn't enjoy the shower in peace and had to hurriedly take my shower.

Location of the hotel was right in the heart of the town and you can easily access the main shopping belt of Lippstadt. Room was very quiet as the window faced an alleyway so there wasn't much traffic. Had a restful sleep on both nights.

Receptionists are helpful and will help you make taxi reservations which accept credit cards. Taxis in Lippstadt mostly accept VISA and not American Express so be sure to carry a variety of credit cards if you don't carry much Euro on you.

Overall 3 stars for an average stay. Would be suitable for the business traveller with no frills.

Room Tip: Choose room facing alleyway for a peaceful night's rest

The hotel offers a fine stay in all regards except as it pertains to the (free) internet connection.
The connection is great, once you have managed to login. The issue is the login as such and the fact that you are constantly disconnected throughout your stay. Logging in is a pain as the user name is likely long (your name) and the password is of a complexity to protect a bank, making the forced need to repeat the login a pain.
Unfortunate to mention, but the staff to whom I spoke related to this issue was hardly accomodating and accepting the concern I brought to light.
Again, other than that, this hotel is a great choice in all regards.

This is the third time we have stayed here and it never fails to impress. The hotel is situated right in the centre of things, within easy reach of the better restaurants and cafes. The hotel has its's very own fleet of bicycles and we would strongly recommend a trip by bike, there's so much lovely countryside to see - all on the doorstep. If you want to venture a little further, the Mohnesee is a half hour drive and the joys of Fort Fun a little over an hour away. The rooms at the hotel have to be the cleanest we have experienced. Breakfasts are fab, with a choice of cooked or continental. Finally, in our opinion it's the staff who can make a real difference to a hotel stay and the staff at this hotel are just so friendly and helpful. Really, nothing is too much trouble to them! We can't wait for a return in 2014.

No frills, no problems. A practical place to stay with parking (drive in slowly and carefully) and a helpful Reception team. Try to get higher than the first floor to be quieter. The walls are a bit thin so if you need perfect quiet to sleep ask for a room away from other guests if possible

The room was fine with no issues. As usual with this chain you do not get a kettle in room but have to ask. Then its free to make it in the room. Staff were helpful ordering taxis and advice on where to go with a very small time to view the town. Recommendations for meals were fine. Breakfast was a big let down. As usal with these places there is a range for different tastes but all was very limited and often not hot.

I arrived very late in the evening (01:00 am) and I had no issue getting the room very quickly. It was the first floor which is usually for me not the best for the street noises and sleeping, but there's no issue here.
Room itself was standard single room with good sized bed for even the bigger traveler like myself (186cm/6.1ft). The interior look standard although with retro light switches and old safety box. The bathroom/toilet was recently renowated and was very clean like the rest of the room as well. There was flat screen TV with over 30 channels and only English channels CNN and BBC for news rest of the channels dubbed European channels.
Minibar - each item costed only 1.6€ - very good thing and for the first time in long time used the minibar. Nice. :)
For safety - I didn't see individual smoke/fire detection device in the room which might be something that in emergency situations will save lives. There was such devices in the corridor but in case of fire the people are trapped in to their rooms if fire is detected only when it's already in the corridor. For me this is serious safety violation and in Finland we do have detection devices in every room.
Wi-Fi - free and coverage and speed so good that you are able to do even work.
Breakfast - very good selection of breakfast articles with original German items like miniature snitzels, sausages, cheeses. And nice surprise during December morning was Christmas chocolate.
The location of the hotel is very good and walking distance to downtown just few minutes and when visiting Hella KGa the walking distance is just 15 minutes while the reception lady told me that it's 30 minutes away and I should get a taxi. There are few restaurants nearby (there's no restaurant in hotel, just bar) and shops and stores and the Christmas fair at Radhaus square only 2 minutes away with central European things like Glüwein, sausages, Christmas decorations, chocolate etc. Very nice atmosphere all together :)
The thing that really make me smile and happy was that when checking out the reception lady gave me a bottle of water for my day/trip to airport. :) Excellent - it really saved my day to be exact!
Overall very good value for the money, service was nice and friendly, room clean and quiet.

Room Tip: Ask room away from the elevator. Elevator seemed only and cranky and might disturb guests in the roo...
