This is an excellent hotel, incorporating everything one could wish for a tranquil Greek island holiday. The cleanliness of the hotel and the rooms is excellent, with the rooms being attended to twice a day with fresh towels provided each time. A fantastic swimming pool with wet bar next to it, as well as, a magnificent sandy private beach (all with loungers and beach towels) are incorporated in the hotel. There are two restaurants, one next to the swimming pool serving European & Greek food and the other one serving Chinese food. The quality of food and the produce used to prepare it are divine. The staff service is highly professional, friendly and unobtrusive. The wine and drinks lists are comprehensive. All in all this is a very inclusive hotel that you can relax in, without needing to go around in Greek hot days. Highly recommended to anyone who wishes to enjoy Greek Aegean islands at their best.

Room Tip: The Junior Suites with sea view are the recommended type of accommodation. These are sufficiently la...

The Astir is located 2km from Naoussa, on a beautiful wide creek where you can wade in knee-high, warm turquoise waters for hundreds of meters -- you could literally swim to the trendy beach of Kolymbithres right across the water. The private beach is small but very appreciated when you see how crowded the other public beaches are in summer! The swimming pool is great, with lounge chairs all around and a pool bar. The hotel grounds in general, as stated in other reviews, are just amazing.

You could walk to Naoussa but it is a pretty long walk, and you might want to use taxis instead. The hotel shuttle is mainly used for transfers to the harbour and not really practical to use to go to town.

Like most Greek hotels, the Astir is organised in apartments spread over several small buildings; depending on the building, and the room orientation, you can get several different room setups. In general, they are open plan with a sleeping area and a lounge area where the couches are converted into beds for children. The first room we were offered had a balcony facing the road, and the air conditioning right above the children beds; we asked to see another room and were given a much better one, around a garden plaza and with aircon in the sleeping area. We were very happy with this room, which was serviced twice a day and kept very clean. Special thumbs up to the cleaning ladies who went out of their way on our last day to track and find a lost iPod :-)

The restaurant has a good Mediterranean menu, not really typically Greek, but if you prefer you can wade in the water a little bit and find a proper taverna 5 minutes from the hotel, or just drive to Naoussa and find lots of choice. The pool bar offers pretty decent food, including a sushi menu which I found reasonably good but slightly out of place in the context!

The staff is friendly and helpful, definitely a notch above the usual Greek standards -- especially Christos at the pool bar who works tirelessly to fulfil any request you might have. They were especially kind and patient with our children and we are grateful for that!

Now, don't be fooled by the palm trees, this is still a semi-arid Greek island, which gets really busy during summer! The front desk cannot make it rain for you, or stop the wind :-) They have always been helpful for us and always made their best to accommodate our requests, but sometimes if you need a car rental, or you want to rent a boat for the day, it's better to just walk around the center of Naoussa and ask in person and you might get lucky and get a deal!

All in all, I think the Astir is probably one of the best hotels you can find in Paros.

Whilst billed as the only 5 star resort on the island, The Astir has great grounds, very friendly helpful staff. The rooms are spacious and clean yet a little dated and the aircon, whilst efficient was a little noisy.

Bathroom had only a detachable shower over the bath, with a shower curtain... Not quiet what you expect for a 5 star.

You are paying 5 star prices but expect more of a 4 star experience.

We visited the island of Paros for the third time in July and of course we chose to stay at Astir of Paros. Needless to say Astir remains the best hotel the island has to offer to the traveller. This year the Thai restaurant is excellent. We stayed at a comfortable room that easily accommodated the 4 of us, it was also kept very clean. All in all we were very pleased with our stay there.

My trip here was a magical one. Coming from a very very busy schedule, in Johannesburg all I needed was to fully enjoy the regenerative effects of the island and the hotel, I can't express my gratitude enough to the staff and owners of the hotel. The quality I received was worth every penny, so if you are tight on finances I do not suggest this trip, yet if you are financially comfortable and willing to experience the ultimate in relaxation, then this is the place for you. I amped and ready for work back in Johannesburg.

The grounds are beautiful and pristine. The location is ideal as it is in a quite area away from the main town of Naoussa. As soon as you arrive the pool bartender runs out to the reception area and greets you with some type of fruit smoothie.
You are then led to your room by the "Drill Sergeant" (older female from reception area). She took us into our luxurious room and she opened the door we started to laugh. We had a Junior Suite with garden view (for $311 Euros/night) that allegedly sleeps 4 people. The room was nothing special. One full size bed and a sectional sofa with bed sheets that they called "sofa beds". The garden view they stated consisted of some flowers alongside a wall and the view of a half dozen stray cats. The photos online do not coincide with what we saw. The air conditioning unit was directly pointed at our 2 children who were sleeping, directly under the unit, on the "sofa beds". We had to keep the AC setting low to keep the kids from freezing. As a result myself and wife had to sacrifice a bit and sleep in a warm environment b/c the air did not reach us completely. We asked the front desk to see if they could accommodate us with another room and the front desk spoke to the "Drill Sergeant" who said sure for another $80euros/ day. They were willing to switch us to another room, same size, only difference is that the AC unit located near the full bed and on the 2nd floor. We declined and stood in our original room.
The wait staff at the restaurant and pool bar are awesome and hardworking individuals.
The front desk and Management staff are a different story. I've never been to a hotel where the front desk did not ask, at checkout, "How was your stay? Did you enjoy your stay with us? Thank you for staying with us? Here at the Astir of Paros I was explained my charges, signed my bill, and was told the time our transfer (shuttle from Hotel to port) would be. That's it.
We were told , by certain staff members, that the management staff does not care if you like it or not. They get your money and move on to the next customer. I guess that's why the hotel was a ghost town. Except for maybe 4 other families in addition to ours.
Definitely would not consider returning to the "prestigious" Astir of Paros unless management made some upgrades and changes to their front desk staff.

The grounds and common area of the hotel are gorgeous. However presenting itself as a 5 star Resort is misleading. The waitstaff at the restaurant and pool bar are extremely hardworking and tried tirelessly to make our stay pleasant. unfortunately I believe they are under appreciated by the management. It is unfortunate because they truly are what made our stay enjoyable. The staff seemed fearful discussing other restaurants and beaches in Paros.

The rooms were not up to 5 star Resort standard and extremely overpriced. We were given a junior suite for 4 people. There was one full hard bed a small hard sectional mini couch that was made up as two beds. The room is very small and the ac unit is attached to the sofa. There are larger rooms available but at much higher overpriced costs. The prices are twice what you would pay staying in a beautiful hotel in Santorini.
The hotel has a bizarre aura to it reminiscent of the movie "The Grand Budapest Hotel". They claimed the hotel was almost at capacity however it was a ghost town. We were the only people at the pool and restaurant.

Had the resort had a more fair price tag the rooms would be tolerable! Unfortunately we left feeling like we had been scammed and sold on dream
the management is trying to achieve.

There is even a strange binder with photocopies inside and a small notation about how they are trying to keep their 5 star standard so not to dry bathing suits outside.
The beach is very small. At high tide the one row of chairs is practically in the water.
