It's a very old christian cathedral, that has been rebuilt and restored since it was destroyed by an earthquake in the 50's. It is dedicated to Virgin Mary and a great celebration takes place in 15th of August. One can also see fragments of an ancient temple and ancient ruins in the area nearby. It is surely worth visiting.

An amazing example of early protochristian churches. The original building dates from the times of emperor Constantine and his christiaon mother Helen.

An incredible, awe-inspiring church. A must see, when visiting Paros, regardless of religious beliefs.

The guidebooks are right - this beautiful cathedral should not be missed. Visit in late morning and buy a guidebook (4 euros) from the bookstore just inside the main gate on the left. Read each section of the book and explore. It is a lovely way to spend about 90 minutes.
