Our stay at the Sofia Pension came after completing an extraordinary Rick Steves' tour of Greece. This pension was highly recommended in The Lonely Planet book on Greek Islands. We were warmly welcomed by the owners, Sofia and Manolis Barbaris after arriving on the Blue Star ferry in the town of Parikia on the island of Paros. The beautiful pension, located only blocks from the ferry dock, is immaculately maintained. Every detail of the accommodations and surrounding gardens have been created for the comfort and enjoyment of guests. Manolis tends the gardens daily. The rates are the most reasonable that we encountered and the optional breakfast was better than we ate in restaurants.

This little pension is situation in a yard with beautiful gardens and little sitting spots all over. Almost makes you want to stay there instead of going to the beach. My family and I were able to walk here from the ferry with all of our luggage (there was a lot) with no problem. The owner (Emanuel) was kind enough to load us all up in his car and bring us to the ferry when we left. The rooms were so cute and very clean with lovely little balconies. There was a mini fridge and a real shower (not these tiny ones in most Greek hotels). They do a breakfast in the morning that includes french press coffee, a welcomed relief for a coffee lover like myself. The owner and his wife were so nice too. The hotel is located just a block or two from anything and everything (good restaurants, beach, shopping). It was great and the price was incredible!! They had a computer for guests to use for free and had wireless that could be accessed in the garden

We stayed at Pension Sofia for 5 nights. I had picked it from the reviews (and the very reasonable off season rate) and we were not disappointed. We could not fault it. Manolis kindly picked us up from the airport (9km away) and we were in Room 9. It is the largest room there (i think) with a huge balcony with a pergola covered in grape vines and bouganivilia and water views. We loved the privacy and being able to sit out on the balcony for breakfast and lunch and to read and simply relax. The other rooms have quite small balconies, but there is plenty of room in the garden and on the communal balconies as well. As others have commented, the garden is a real oasis and a rare thing in Paros. The room had a fridge, and Sofia gave us a kettle and cups, (and corkscrew and glasses) so we could make our own cups of tea etc. The room was well designed, eg the power points in convenient places so we could actually use the hairdryer and shaver in front of the mirror and the bedside reading lamps were the best in Greece. It was spotlessly clean and the hosts most helpful. The beach and Port are only minutes away as are a nice bakery and a huge supermarket on the waterfront.

Third time in Paros but has always been a transit place to Santorini, so decided to stay 1 night. Wrong move. Because most shops are closed for the season and the election. so its almost a ghost town. However there are still taverns to fill your stomach.

The owner pick us up and i must say the hotel is cosy and cute. The gardens and the pets makes it a special place compared to the commercial hotels. Nice people and true hospitality.

Rooms were small but decent. For the price, i wouldn't complain. 10-15 mins walk to town.

Excellent Service! The owners, Sofia & Manolis are always there for absolutely everything and anything.
It was a very comfortable stay with a beautiful view of their green garden. The beach is only about 2 minutes away and can be seen from the place. It's also very close to the town centre, bus stop, supermarket and bakery.
Manolis will personally pick you up from the ferry upon arrival too! The internet is also free.
Very enjoyable and relaxing stay.

We absolutely loved Sofia's! The owners are simply lovely people, very accommodating and they looked after us really well. They were more than happy to pick us up and drop us off at the port and added such a personal touch to drinks, breakfast etc. Very friendly people. The pension itself was also a gem. Plenty of shade in their beautiful garden, very private balcony, fantastic fruit breakfasts, snacks and drinks available throughout the day and very close to one of the nicest beaches there. We loved it and we would definitely return. Highly recommended.

We stayed at Pension Sofia for a week in June 2009.

We were impressed by the fact that the owners kindly picked us up at the harbour and drove us to the hotel, although our ferry arrived very late.

The room service incl new bath towels and bed linen was daily! The facilities were absolutely sufficient - a small bath, phone, television, refrigerator, air conditioner, a safe, and a balcony with a view to the garden. In the common room there was also a PC with free internet.

In its price and facilities category, this hotel is really worth it, especially if you get a discount due to middle season, as we did - the owners are always willing to help, the rooms are clean, everything is well-kept, the garden is lovely, the town centre is just 10 minutes away by foot, the sea is 3 minutes away by foot.

And on top of that, you will enjoy the quiteness and the peaceful atmosphere - during the nights and during your breakfast in the garden (extra charge, 7 EUR) in the shade of the olive trees.

I definitely recommend this hotel!
