The lighthouse is fascinating, and it dates back to the 1600's or even earlier, so yes, a really great place to visit. Guided tours happen every 30 minutes during peak holiday season. The tour lasts about 25 minutes and includes a visit to the outdoor circular balcony near the top of the lighthouse. Prices are good too and it's nice to see that they offer 3 different family combination tickets i.e. 2 adults with 2, 3 or 4 children. Kids 5 and under, are free, which is very decent. It's located at the bottom of the Hook Head Peninsula (nearest gateway - New Ross) and the location itself is well worth seeing. There is a really lovely cliff walk beyond the lighthouse which is also worth doing. There is a café on site ( I think run separately to the Lighthouse) which is not great, it does offer a good selection of snacks but the café itself needs an upgrade and the staff, while they are very nice, need more training. I saw some really bad work practices happening on the day of my visit, for example the young guy (really nice chap) who could not operate the expensive coffee machine or the other young guy who was mixing salad leaves in a large bowl with his bare hands. (health and safety issues here for sure). We were hungry but on entering the cafe very quickly decided just to have a tea and coffee and get food somewhere else later on. On site toilets are 'sticky' to say the least and also need attention by management. That said, the lighthouse itself is the star of the show, down there on the beautiful Hook Pen.

Just adjacent to the lighthouse is a very large field with some benches and tables and on sunny days, they put out a few games for the kids which is a nice touch (basketball, skittles, etc) and they encourage families to use this area for picnics which I think is very generous. There is plenty of parking on site and if that fills up you can park outside at the side of the approach road, and that is what a lot of people did on the day of my visit.

Overall a really nice place to visit and I would highly recommend it.

What an amazing little gem found in Co. Wexford. Went here with some friends for the first time, and the place is amazzing. Great and interesting detail about how Hook Lighthouse came about. Tour guide was brilliant in explaining the history of the place. Lovely play area out side for children with area for a picnic. Would come back here again
