“Great attraction”

Well worth the out of the way drive.
Play area and picnic area in the grounds, basketball net, jenga, connect four, plenty for the kids to do while waiting on the tour.
Tour is every 30 minutes. Nice little cafe and gift shop.
Tour was very interesting and geared for all age groups.
Plenty of steps as you would expect but the view at the top is magnificence.

“My happy place”

We have family in Wexford so visit at least a couple of times a year. Hook Head is one of the first places I like to return too... I love it there. It's wild and mysterious in the winter, and a great place to chill out in the summer. I'm delighted this year that there were some games for the children to play with on the lawn outside, including giant Connect 4, skittles and a rugby ball.

“take your time and see the penninsula”

What a delight to visit! We arrived late in the day and as such were the only people on the final tour and our guide Stephen couldn’t have been more pleasant & helpful. Whilst there are naturally a lot of stairs, they were not a problem as the tour stops at each level. Unfortunately, as it is a working lighthouse, the public cannot go to the very top to see the bulb and the mirrors but there is a smaller lamp which came from a different lighthouse in the bottom floor so you can still see what powers the lamp.

The view from the top is stunning, although you cannot walk 360 degrees around you get to see plenty!

At the weekend there are lots of extra activities to encourage people to spend time there – volleyball in the lawn, face painting, garden games etc… The gates to the car park close at 6pm but there is plenty of parking outside and an open gateway into the grounds so that people can still have some fun!

The place was very clean and the staff were very informative and friendly. There is even free wifi. In our case, we found out about Hook via the Kellogg’s promotions so we only needed to pay for the 2 children making this a very affordable 7 euros.

The journey out also passes other places of interest and it would be easy to spend a full day on this peninsula.

I had been to Hook lighthouse as a child a "few or so" years ago but I must admit to not remembering much about it . So 3 years ago I brought my own children and it was a fantastic day and last year with 2 more of my childrens friends we returned for what was a beauitful sunny day and where they all really enjoyed themselves. They actually still talk about it. If in doubt go you wont regret it the view from the top will be more than worth it.
