We arrived as a group of 50 and were speedily checked in as we had give passport details and were give our room numbers on the bus before arrival. Good organisation.
All the staff helped to transfer our bags efficiently to modern clean well appointed rooms with good showers and fluffy towels. The rooms were spotlessly maintained by efficient charming cleaning staff daily with a linen change mid week.
The small restaurant staff who were excellent (all the time we were there) were overwhelmed by 50 people sitting down at once. This was crazy and should be better organised (blame the hotel or tour organisers?) some people would be happier to have a drink first rather than be herded to a trough.
It took us over 20 minutes to order a bottle of wine and we were first served.
We were on an dinner inclusive deal but only ate there on two evenings as the dinners we had were poor, uninteresting lacking in flair taste or imagination served in a cavernous room lacking style or atmosphere at refectory style tables. I thought I had left school dinners behind.
The breakfast suited us as we normally have fruit cereal and yogurt but it was a variable feast as even the fruit salad went from good to a single fruit.
Pity the juices were processed not fresh. Sometimes there was fresh fruit.
The hot option each day was scrambled eggs and streaky bacon that each day looked as if it had seen better days (or a boiled egg).
There was one slow toaster, plenty of drinkable coffee (not great).
Plenty of breads, pastries etc of reasonable quality.
If there was a shortage the staff were helpful and responded immediately.
There is limited seating in reception but an excellent outdoor terrace with views on the second floor.
Patchy wifi in bedrooms.
This hotel really wins with ALL the staff, waiters, cleaners but especially Teresa and Carmen on reception who booked taxis, superb restaurants, guided us to trains and buses, on trips to other towns, directed us around Ostuni with patience and smiles.
Yes I hope to go back, but not in a group and not including dinner as there is really great food in Ostuni. I urge you to visit Piazzetta Cattedrale Ostuni tell Roberto CC4Bees sent you, you won't be disappointed.
