“Exceptional helpful friendly intelligent staff in modern hotel”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

We arrived as a group of 50 and were speedily checked in as we had give passport details and were give our room numbers on the bus before arrival. Good organisation.
All the staff helped to transfer our bags efficiently to modern clean well appointed rooms with good showers and fluffy towels. The rooms were spotlessly maintained by efficient charming cleaning staff daily with a linen change mid week.
The small restaurant staff who were excellent (all the time we were there) were overwhelmed by 50 people sitting down at once. This was crazy and should be better organised (blame the hotel or tour organisers?) some people would be happier to have a drink first rather than be herded to a trough.
It took us over 20 minutes to order a bottle of wine and we were first served.
We were on an dinner inclusive deal but only ate there on two evenings as the dinners we had were poor, uninteresting lacking in flair taste or imagination served in a cavernous room lacking style or atmosphere at refectory style tables. I thought I had left school dinners behind.
The breakfast suited us as we normally have fruit cereal and yogurt but it was a variable feast as even the fruit salad went from good to a single fruit.
Pity the juices were processed not fresh. Sometimes there was fresh fruit.
The hot option each day was scrambled eggs and streaky bacon that each day looked as if it had seen better days (or a boiled egg).
There was one slow toaster, plenty of drinkable coffee (not great).
Plenty of breads, pastries etc of reasonable quality.
If there was a shortage the staff were helpful and responded immediately.
There is limited seating in reception but an excellent outdoor terrace with views on the second floor.
Patchy wifi in bedrooms.
This hotel really wins with ALL the staff, waiters, cleaners but especially Teresa and Carmen on reception who booked taxis, superb restaurants, guided us to trains and buses, on trips to other towns, directed us around Ostuni with patience and smiles.

Yes I hope to go back, but not in a group and not including dinner as there is really great food in Ostuni. I urge you to visit Piazzetta Cattedrale Ostuni tell Roberto CC4Bees sent you, you won't be disappointed.

The hotel gives you right mix of comfort luxury and necessity.

The staff made a quick check in close to midnite so i was tucked in almost immediatly

I stayed here just 3 days but felt at ease...would surely go back.

To be fair....Ostuni was at the very end of a long trip. We were tired and did not explore the area as much as we did other cities in the beginning. I was a bit disappointed in the location of the hotel thinking it would be in the heart of Ostuni. But it turned out to be just a few minutes walk, easy and pleasant. And I'm not sure I would have wanted to drag my bags through the old town had there been a B & B there. So in the end I would say the location is a good one. We also took a taxi to the Ostuni weekly market which was nice.
The hotel itself is new, modern, clean and comfortable. I love the rooms, especially the bathroom which had a window. Best bathroom and shower of our trip. There was also a frig and good TV where we watched Dancing With the Stars! The reception staff was extremely helpful and there was free use of a computer in the lobby. The lobby is quite nice.
Breakfast was just ok. The breakfast room was too cavernous to be welcoming in the morning. But the variety was fine. I like a more intimate setting for my first meal of the day. And more fresh fruit. The breakfast room furniture reminded me of IKEA's coffee shop.
There is a lovely view of the white city from the rooftop lounge. I didn't realize until after reading other reviews that there was a pool. I'm sorry I missed seeing the view from there.
The entrance to the hotel is not good for being dropped off or picked up. There is free parking not too far away though.
The hotel and city were both lovely.

An excellent very modern hotel in a great location just a ten minute stroll from the historic town of Ostuni. Breakfast superb, room superb, staff superb. Anyone visiting this end of Italy be sure to visit Martina Franca, Lecce, Gallipoli, Alberobello, as well as of course Ostuni, best nearest beach Costa Merlata, great hotel & a great addition to beautiful Puglia.

We were very pleased with our stay in this hotel and can find nothing to criticise. The location is good as it is just 5 minutes walk from the old town where there are lots of cafés and restaurants. There are very good views of the town from the terrace and pool. It is on quite a busy road but there is free parking just round the corner. Our room was spacious and comfortable, indeed the whole hotel is very modern and spacious having opened only three years ago. Everything was spotless and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The train station a 5 minute drive away (or there is a local bus) which makes visiting Lecce very simple.

We arrived at Hotel Monte Sarago on July 20, 2013 and departed three days later. During this period, my wife and I were looked after in a very pleasant and professional manner by every member of staff. The room was spotless. Built against the Sarago mountain, it’s pool is at a higher elevation, about 150 steps higher. These may be tackled in person, or the shuttle can take one up and down afterwards. Meals are served at the open-air terrace. I regret not having had dinner there due to the short time available and other engagements. The breakfast was ample, nourishing and the ‘caffè’ excellent. Both terrace and pool have unparalleled views of La Città Bianca. Apart from the traffic noise, completely eliminated behind double glazing, this is probably the finest hotel – we saw another top-notch hotel at Ostuni – in the city area. And it is a mere 7 Kilometres from a few smaller beaches that provide privacy. The parking garage – in the basement – is a tight squeeze on entering but is soon mastered. The hotel is highly recommended and we will be back whenever we visit Ostuni. The top suite - at very competitive rates - has a private patio with the same extensive views of the city.

This purpose built hotel is almost impossible to find by car, with a practically invisible entrance even after getting directions a mere 50m away from it! But once found, all was to our taste. We were put in a very quiet spacious modern room in the annex and slept well. For me, the smell of disinfectant in the room was overpowering, but my husband didn't notice it. I got used to it after 48 hours. Needless to add, the room was very clean! The location is excellent both for walking into town--a few minutes with a slight uphill incline--and parking--there is ample free outside parking across the street, once you are told how to find the entrance! Staff were friendly, and breakfast staff made sure we got the full range despite a bus party beating us to the buffet. I don't know if it was the bus party being there 4 days out of our 5 that meant the melon slices at breakfast disappeared and a fresh fruit salad was offered instead. But that was a minor disappointment given the overall experience. We liked Ostuni and we liked this hotel; we'll return if we ever return to Puglia.
