This was a return visit to Ostuni and to the Devlins' fantastic apartments, this time to La Terrazza. Spacious, completely equipped, beautifully furnished, and the most fantastic terrace with views across the old city and over to the sea. It's not just a functional place to stay but a home that's a pleasure to spend time and relax in. The location is perfectly poised between the Centro Storico and the newer part of town with its shops, cafes and market, nothing's more than a few minutes walk away. If the owners Tim and Angela are there too you will find them the most helpful and informative hosts. They will arrange all sorts of activities for you if you wish. From Ostuni you can easily reach dozens of beaches and historic towns, but the city itself is real delight. There can be few lovelier places to stay there than La Terrazza.

La Terrazza is a little foretaste of heaven which sustains us through the autumn and winter. July/August 2011 was our fifth visit and it never, ever, disappoints. Right in the heart of Ostuni, a lively, characterful hill town surrounded by olive groves where many of the trees are almost as old as the town itself, and with easy access to clean, friendly beaches, it's a wonderful setting for a holiday. If you like history, Bari, Brindisi, Lecce and the Norman heritage of the Terra di Bari are all within easy reach (and don't miss the amazing archaeological museum in Taranto, now that it's re-opened). If you like good food and wine, the choice of restaurants, from cheap to very classy, is extensive. And if, like us, you enjoy self-catering - savouring on the terrace, with its incomparable view, the choice of fresh produce from the twice-weekly Ostuni market - it's perfect. We've already booked our sixth instalment!

We made the long trek from Southern California to Ostuni and had a wonderful time with a family of four at Casa Esmeralda. The town is terrific, beautiful with great restaurants and an exciting night scene. Casa Esmeralda has a great roof patio with views to die for-perfect for a sunset cocktail. Parking can be a minor issue, but there are great day trips that you can do in the morning, and still hit the beach at Villanova in the afternoon. The hole in the wall restaurants on the beach near Torre Canne serve some of the best seafood on Italy. Taverna Della Gelosia was our favorite in Ostuni. WiFi, even for a fee, is my only recommendation for Casa Esmeralda.

We spent 10 days in Ostuni at the end of June to the beginning of July and had a lovely stay in L'Alcova. The apartment is very stylishly presented and has an excellent range of facilities. TV, Oven, fridge, beautiful mosquito nets over the bed and all very nicely decked out in Tim and Angela's impeccable style. The balcony is a nice addition to L'Alcova as we found it rather to nice to come back from a hard days sunbathing at the beach to come back to the apartment and have a nice glass of Prosecco on the balcony. I could almost be back there now...!

Ostuni is a very pleasant town with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Our favourite (although) a little expense was Porta Nova which had beautiful food and the nicest red wine I've had to date! I would also recommend hiring a car. Once you've got to grips with the big game of bluff that is Italian driving then it really does enhance your trip. A sat nav would also be advisable as it did make finding the beaches and getting around town a lot easier.

Ostuni is a beautiful place and Casa Tavani simply unbeatable for style, uniqueness and location. Highly recommended.

Tim and Angela Devlin have prior experience of transforming the shell of a potentially stunning building into a stunning home. Some years ago they bought a church in Norfolk and, with the help of their set designer daughter, performed a magical sleight of hand, with the installation of a wooden mezzanine, that conserved, yet showcased, all the original features - the vaulted roof and full length windows - that had first taken their eye. As a result they experienced the same "wow" factor each day they lived there there that they noted on the faces of first time guests to their home. The same vision that helped them see the potential of a decommissioned church as a home, allowed them to see the potential of a new home for themselves in Puglia, in the heel of southern Italy - a third floor apartment, reached by steep stone steps, whose high vaulted brick ceilings lead to a rooftop terrace that overlooks the white hilltop town of city of Ostuni and the Adriatic 7km beyond. Their former home - La Terrazza - is now a home from home for travellers who, I can attest, leave the stress of their journey at the top of the stairs as they step into the light, airy, stone-floored apartment with its white walls, white distressed furniture and mosquito nets draped over a deep, freestanding bedroom bath and low double bed. Their welcome pack is a mini guide book of "things to do" and "how tos" in Ostuni and the surrounding Puglia region, written by the experienced PRs they are. When you tire of reading it, there are ample books and DVDs to fill your evenings - or you can simply drink in the view, Our children John-Paul and Jasmine, 21 and 15 respectively, stayed in L'Alcova, a similarly beautifully appointed, self-catering, cosy two bed apartment with balcony on the floor below which crucially, for young adults their age, like La Terrazza, had wi-fi to ensure they were never out of contact too long with their friends.

Room Tip: La Terrazza is one of four flats for hire.

Me and my partner Chris stayed here for two weeks. From the moment we arrived in Ostuni Angela and Tim could not have been more helpful. Tim even came to meet us to show us where to park the car. L'Alcova, along with their others houses (we had a tour!) are absolutely beautiful, and Angela (a fellow Welsh girl!) and Tim are fantastic. They very kindly invited us to their house for a drink where we met some of their British and Italian friends.
I'm very late adding this review, but you really must go and stay with the Devlins!
FABULOUS.

We stayed at Casa Esmeralda for a week and what a great holiday.
The apartment was a little treasure where there was everything you needed.
The best was yet the outdoor facilities. Balcones to the narrow street where you could keep up with life in the charming Italian city. And most of all the large roof terrace where you could see all the way to the sea.
We had rented a car and after a few days we found a place where we could park just 50 meters away. Driving a car in the narrow streets were a bit of a challenge, but fun.
It is one of the best holidays we had.
Thanks to the nice Host Angela and Tim.
We very much hope to come back again
