We stayed here for two nights in July 2014. After a week spent at beach locations, it was such a treat to be in the mountains in such a breath-taking setting. The hosts and the young girl who works there are very helpful. The best thing about the place is, you can really relax. We are animal lovers and really enjoyed the goats roaming the grounds and the two dogs who came trotting over for some fuss. Some reviewers have said it is basic accommodation, but we didn’t think so. The room was compact, but was clean and had everything we needed. We were worried about the heat at night, but it is surprisingly cool in the mountains and you can have the window open in the evening as there are strong insect nets covering them (although there were no problems at all with insects while we were there). There is also a small fan in the room. We stayed only two nights as we were worried about being stranded there without a car, but in hindsight, four days would have been better.
We went kayaking one afternoon on the river which was lovely and walked around the grounds and nature trails. We knew dinner was not always served so took food to cook in the communal kitchen. They have tea and coffee there and things like salt, pepper, oil etc. so you don’t need to take all those. There is a fridge and a freezer too. One night we ordered a pizza to be delivered (the young girl who works there kindly did it for us as we spoke poor Italian – she was great) and it was enjoyed with a glass of wine on one of the several outdoor seating area with AMAZING views. Really, they are amazing. Oh and there is a hammock, which is utter bliss at night after a glass of local wine.
We did not have a car and got a taxi from Cala Gonone. We went to the tourist office there (the lady was truly outstanding and helpful – thanks) and booked it the day before, it was 20 euros, a bargain. At the same time we booked our taxi to pick us up at the end and take us to Nuoro for 50 euros for our onward journey. A very good service, the taxi driver was friendly (like everyone we encountered in Sardinia). We decided not to get a car and use taxis and buses for our ten day trip. It suited us with our backpacks and we saved hundreds of euros.
We wish to thanks our hosts and staff for a wonderful break which was the highlight of our holiday. We will recommend Ecoparco Neule to all our friends and wish you the very best for the future.
