“So relaxing!”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

We stayed here for two nights in July 2014. After a week spent at beach locations, it was such a treat to be in the mountains in such a breath-taking setting. The hosts and the young girl who works there are very helpful. The best thing about the place is, you can really relax. We are animal lovers and really enjoyed the goats roaming the grounds and the two dogs who came trotting over for some fuss. Some reviewers have said it is basic accommodation, but we didn’t think so. The room was compact, but was clean and had everything we needed. We were worried about the heat at night, but it is surprisingly cool in the mountains and you can have the window open in the evening as there are strong insect nets covering them (although there were no problems at all with insects while we were there). There is also a small fan in the room. We stayed only two nights as we were worried about being stranded there without a car, but in hindsight, four days would have been better.

We went kayaking one afternoon on the river which was lovely and walked around the grounds and nature trails. We knew dinner was not always served so took food to cook in the communal kitchen. They have tea and coffee there and things like salt, pepper, oil etc. so you don’t need to take all those. There is a fridge and a freezer too. One night we ordered a pizza to be delivered (the young girl who works there kindly did it for us as we spoke poor Italian – she was great) and it was enjoyed with a glass of wine on one of the several outdoor seating area with AMAZING views. Really, they are amazing. Oh and there is a hammock, which is utter bliss at night after a glass of local wine.

We did not have a car and got a taxi from Cala Gonone. We went to the tourist office there (the lady was truly outstanding and helpful – thanks) and booked it the day before, it was 20 euros, a bargain. At the same time we booked our taxi to pick us up at the end and take us to Nuoro for 50 euros for our onward journey. A very good service, the taxi driver was friendly (like everyone we encountered in Sardinia). We decided not to get a car and use taxis and buses for our ten day trip. It suited us with our backpacks and we saved hundreds of euros.

We wish to thanks our hosts and staff for a wonderful break which was the highlight of our holiday. We will recommend Ecoparco Neule to all our friends and wish you the very best for the future.

This was the first time that we spent a night in an Agriturism and we will definitely try it again. To arrive at Neule you will have to go through 2km of rough roads (as mentioned in several posts), but nothing to be scared of (except if you drive a very low sportive car). Anyways, these 2km are totally worth it as it will lead you to Paradise!

When you arrive at Neule you will quickly realize its incredible situation with its amazing view on the mountains and the lake. The hosts, Gianpiero, his wife Mona and Lino also contributed significantly to the wonderful experience we had at Neule.

We also had the luck to participate in the first dinner of the year (organized by the owner on special occasions) where we could taste delicious (and organic) typical Sardinian dishes. Gianpiero explained us that everything we ate was produced locally either by him or his friends and family. For him it’s important to keep his Ecoparc as close to Sardinian life as possible. We enjoyed this night as well as our stay a lot and had great fun with the other guests and Gianpiero.

We will definitely go back to see how Gianpiero’s dream is evolving and highly recommend this place if you want to have a real Sardinian experience during your stay!!

We found Neule by chance online. We had our previous accommodation cancelled by the owner 9 days prior to our trip (see my other review). A few searches led us to the Expedia website for Neule. It had few English reviews but we decided to take our chance.

To get to Neule, be prepared to have to go through 2km of semi paved roads which may not be suitable for smaller cars (we rented a Polo and that was fine). Neule is about 2km away from the mountainous town of Dorgali and 10km from the seaside beach haven of Cala Gonone. Other excellent beaches such as Cala Fuili, Cala Ossalla and Cala Cartoe are within 30 minutes' drive.

When we arrived on a sunny June afternoon, we were greeted by Gianpiero (who speaks very very little English) and his wife Mona. They also have two young children and a few dogs and cats on site. Mona offered some excellent advice as to where to visit in the local vicinity.

Essentially Neule consists of a valley with access to a lake on lower ground (where you can swim or kayak), and on higher ground there is a farm, and the main buildings. On site you can also hill walk, mountain bike and horse ride. We actually spent a whole day on site just strolling around and enjoying the stunning scenes and quiet.

In the main two level farm house, there are bedrooms on the top floor, each with on suite facilities, and some can even sleep 3 people. The ground floor is a massive common area, with kitchen facilities, so it was good that we could make our dinner with local produce from Dorgali. The rooms are well furnished, clean, and decorated with local art. There is no air conditioning on site, which wasn't a problem for us in June (at night time it was about 15-18 degrees) but it may be a concern in peak summertime.

Breakfast is served outdoors next to a hillside with stunning views over the valley. Everything served is sourced locally. Gianpiero also served a traditional Sardinian dinner on one of the nights, which was an excellent opportunity to mingle with other guests over wine and local delicacies such as the roast suckling pig.

There is free Wifi on site although reception can be patchy in the rooms on second floor, and sometimes our laptops fail to hold a connection. There is a TV with some couches on the ground floor.

Neule exceeded all my expectations. The views over the valley are stunning, Peace and quiet is on offer by the plenty. It is not luxury but is probably as close to nature and complete relaxation as you can find. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and cannot recommend Neule highly enough.

Room Tip: Ask for mountain / lake view rooms. The sunset view you get is absolutely stunning.

We stayed in the Nature Park Neule one night and enjoyed the great view on the nearby lake.
The rooms were very clean and well equipped. The nature park is part of the Agriturismo and is great for walking and for me for jogging (;-))

We ordered the big dinner in the evening, that was one of the best i ever had on Sardinia.

Thumbs up!

Regards,

Michael

This is a a simplistic, yet wonderfull place. We stayed here for two wonderful days. And we fell in love with the place and its hosts. Although they are not the strongest speakers of english it does not matter, because they are so kind and welcoming. The rooms are simple, yet has everything you need, a good bed and a small yet good bath. The greatest was the view we had when we opened our door. We looked out over the mountains and river.
It is a peaceful and beautiful place with wild boars walking the grounds late at night. And if you like being close to nature then you are in for a treat.
We loved taking part in one of the dinners, where Lino cooked simple local food for us. It was great fun to sit together with the other lodgers and exchange experinces of the day, eating tasty food and drinking local wine.
We will definately come back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the mountains and river.

This was the first time I had ever stayed at an agriturismo so I was apprehensive as to what to expect. Agriturismo Neule exceeded all my expectations, I can honestly say I have never stayed anywhere more welcoming, beautiful, and relaxing before.

The views of the mountains and Lake Cendrino were breathtaking. Our hosts were wonderfully helpful and gave excellent advice about activities and information of the area. The facilities were extremely clean and there was everything you needed. The food was delicious especially the breakfast and the suckling pig.

Whilst we were there we went on some fabulous treks up mountains, around canyons and to little beaches. We also went on a horse ride organised through Agriturismo Neule.

There are many other activities on offer all provided or organised by the hosts.

I would recommend this place to everyone.

It is also great value for money!

This place has it all - the farmhouse is perched on top of a hill offering stunning views of the surrounding Gennargentu mountains and Lake Cendrino below. Simple clean lovely rooms (with ensuite bathroom), various outdoor activities on offer (canoeing, horse riding, mountain biking) and countless paradise beaches a mere 15 minutes drive away.
While we were there, the owners organised a boat trip on the lake followed by a typical DELICIOUS Sardinian meal and we were lucky enough to meet and talk to locals - Sardinia is a fascinating island, steeped in ancient culture and Sardinians feel passionately about their land.
The owners are very hospitable and the whole experience is very affordable, I heartily recommend it to you!
