“Very nice agriturismo with lovely view into countryside and good location for visiting great beaches”
Reviewed 7 October 2012

An old farmhouse nicely refurbished into an agriturismo-type hotel. Quiet location ca 1 km outside of Dorgali. Easy reach from the Southern branch of the SS125. Turn right ca 300m before the road leaves the village. The sleeping room and the bath room had a good size. Nice look on the rural countryside from the terrace or the balcony of the rooms. Beds pretty good. Very good price/quality ratio.
You can have dinner at the premises. We did not use this, but other guests were very pleased with the quality (and the price). If you only want something small, drive to the town, e.g. to the trattoria “Il Giardino” located directly at the Northern branch of the SS125 (distance ca 3 km).
Only disappointment: breakfast rather modest.
The Belvedere is well located for visiting the famous beaches of and around Cala Gonone since these are within easy driving distance (ca 3 km). Cala Luna best reached by boat from Cala Gonone is a must!

Sebastiano and his wife gave us a wonderfully warm and authentically Sardinian welcome, made sure we were comfortable, offered us some advice on what to do and how to do it, and fed us with great home cooking and home-produced booze almost until we begged for mercy.

After an aborted stay in (for our taste overly) noisy Cala Gonone, we were greatly relieved to find this quiet place just outside of Dorgali, courtesy of the hotel owner (Sebastiano's brother). We had the first-floor room looking out from the back of the house, with a nice and handy terrace (good for drying that swimwear and to watch the pipistrelle bats cavorting in the evening), and it was very good. The bed was even made every day, which was an unexpected and considerate touch.

The location is very handy because although the place is located right on the edge of the town, close to two supermarkets and numerous petrol stations, it still feels rural, and the immediate access to the ring road makes trips to the surrounding area far quicker than from a place in town (picking your way through Dorgali in a car is not my idea of fun). The only difficulty (especially if arriving in the evening, straight from the airport) might be finding the place, as SatNav may well lead you astray, and the turning you need doesn't look as if it will lead you to the right place.

There was plenty to do in the vicinity, including a lovely beach just north of the town, at the end of the road where the famous cave is located, which we preferred to the more famous (overhyped?) ones by Cala Gonone. The coast road leading south from Dorgali affords spectacular views, too.

The only drawback of this place is that, as far as I'm aware, Italian is the only language spoken fluently by your hosts. However, this was not a problem for any of the guests we met.

Will the hosts' plans to expand the capacity of the place to 15 rooms affect the family feel of the place? Better check if any building work is planned when you intend to stay...

Room Tip: Ask for the quiet room with the side entrance with the view out to the back.

We stayed here for one night in October 2011 after a night in a higher rated, but we would consider inferior, B&B in the area. We went to enquire about availability and were immediately offered a glass of home-produced wine and shown around. Needless to say, we were impressed by both the hospitality and the premises so decided to stay.
The property is immaculately kept and the room was tastefully decorated with everything you could need including fridge, hairdryer, lcd tv, good bathroom and large terrace with table and chairs overlooking beautiful countryside.
Although we were the only guests that night, a meal was prepared for us in the small dining room and everything was delicious, and of course accompanied by more of Sebastiano's excellent home-produced vino!
Breakfast was simple and tasty and when we told Sebastiano we were off on a trek to the Canyon he prepared us a delicious panino with a hunk of cheese and even a little plastic bottle of his vino to fortify us!
A very enjoyable stay - we would certainly return.
