Hotel Il Querceto
Ranked #14 of 26 Hotels in Dorgali
Reviewed 9 August 2014 via mobile

The hotel is very clean and probably recently refurbished. It is a bit outside Dorgali and it is necessary to take the car to go to the town.
The restaurant is good, the food is fresh and well cooked but the service is really very slow.
It is not possible to eat outside because there's no lighting, probably the owner should evaluate the possibility to add the light outside, especially during summer period.

We are still here at the moment, nearing the end of a two week stay. Its unusual for us to stay in one place for a whole trip , so we were a little worried whether it would suit us. We have become very fond of this hotel though, the staff are universally excellent, the food is typically Sardinian and really very good. Omar, the chef is a really likeable guy and has prepared some great dishes for us during this trip. Nicole thought the vegetable soup two nights ago, was the best she has ever tasted. One night , as non meat eaters, we had a dish of grilled tomatoes with Sardinian roast potatoes. Sounds strange to English palates but it was totally delicious. The waiter in the Hotel is Georgio , we have become friends with him and we have a laugh every night , along with a delicious half bottle of white for me and red for Freda. This place is family run by three brothers and their parents (back of house) , vegetables are mostly from the garden fresh daily, massimiliano is in charge and extremely helpful, as is his brother Adriano. There's a French receptionist called Emmanual, a very gentle soul who tries hard to help at all times. This Hotel is peaceful, our suite is comfortable and good value, its a five mile drive to the hustle and bustle of Cala Ganone, there are lots of beautiful beaches and the clearest blue water we've ever seen outsideof the Caribbean . If you want to relax , have a good time and eat simply but well in typical Sardinian style, I highly recommend Il Querceto . You can phone the Hotel direct and speak to Masimilliano to book. No need for booking sites or automatic answering devices. Try it, hopefully you will be as pleased as we have been.

Did not get off to a good start as the lift was not working and we had to carry our luggage up 2 flights of stairs. Had a meal at the hotel restaurant - food wasn't bad but slow service. Had a brilliant dinner at a local pizzeria though. Breakfast could be a lot better and apart from the quiet location (we had a room at the back), this hotel offers average accommodation.

Room Tip: Rooms at back away from main road

A little bit outside of Dorgali lies the hotel Il Querceto. The location for this hotel is really nice, but this is almost the best you can get there. The view is excellent, if you are on the roof terrace. The rooms are modern and renovated, but if you get one facing the street, you will have a pretty noisy night. The food, it's below average. When you decide to stay in this hotel, choose to go out for dinner. The menu in the hotel will cost you 25 Euros. Yes, it's a three course menu, but it's not worth the money. Drinks are not included, so you have to pay extra for them. Breakfast is average italian style, not much and not really bad, but could be better.
The staff is nice and helpful and always there for a good chat.
Apart from this: the hotel itself doesn't have much to offer. No pool, no activities, nothing special. If you stay here, it's just for the night and nothing more.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the countryside of the hotel. The street can be very loud, due to fast moto...

Good place for 1 night stay underway to ... large hotel just outside the village center, quiet location. Nice facilities, friendly owner, clean place. Unfortunately, there was not enough staff to properly serve breakfast.

We were staying in Hotel Il Querceto in late summer 2012 for a week. First of all the booking was very easy since I could talk directly with the manager Massimilano over phone and get a fair deal. I chose Il Querceto because of its laid back location in the country side and due to its proximity to Cala Gonone (I found the hotels here very touristic and its exactly what I wanted to avoid during our small relaxing holiday).

And guess what? Il Querceto turned out to be a gem of a place, the way I imagined it! Calm, peaceful, with a view of the Mountains from our room. The Drive from Olbia to the Hotel too a little more than one hour and was pleasent. The hotel is surrounded by a orchard where local fruits grew in abundance. The room was very clean with an attached bathroom and a cozy balcony. The furniture were of solid wood and the minimalistic style suited very well to the character of the place. The breakfast was clean and basic with fruits from the country side and home made marmalade, bread etc. not to mention tasty. The charming little town of Dorgali was just a few minutes away from the hotel and littered with nice little cafes and pizzerias. The sea is a short drive across the ridge (hill) and the Mountains were also nearby if you are into hiking.

What I found the most amazing was the attitude of the people at the Hotel. Massimilano, his mother, and the other staff were very healpful and informative. They always gave us nice tips regarding the place, resturants, shopping, day trips etc. Overall a very relaxing experience.

We are definitly returning to Il Querceto for our next Sardinian vacation, may be with some friends!

My girlfriend and I are very grateful to the hospitality given by this hotel and its staff. The view was absolutely amazing, the hotel is very well-kept, with tons of local artists filling the walls, and they are always available to recommend places to visit, eat, and things to do. We will always remember our stay at il Querceto and I recommend this hotel to anyone in the area!

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony with a view. It's worth it!!!
