We were so disappointed with this place -- the so-called "castle" is a very small, pokey house that is divided into two rental accommodations. We rented the whole place, but renters unknown to each other would be squashed together on the shared terrace. The rooms are tiny, claustrophic and cobweb-ridden. There are mice in the kitchen and the bedding smells moldy. There is no air-conditioning (and it was hot when we were there in July!). The house is located on a mountaintop; it requires a tedious and dangerous 30 minute drive to reach the nearest town with a train station. Worst of all was the treatment we received from the owner: we regularly rent holiday accommodations in Europe and we have never encountered such rude, inflexible, unprofessional behaviour. Bottom line: there are many wonderful places to rent in Tuscany: the Lance Manor is not one of them. Go somewhere else!
